In the summer of 2019, I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. Fortunately, I do not remember the accident. The EMT’s put me into an induced coma at the scene of the accident and after a few days in the hospital I was brought out of the coma.
After waking up, all I wanted to do was to get out of the hospital and back to work in a business I had just started. I felt that the aches and pains were just a distraction from the dedication I needed to make the business successful. My punctured lung, broken ribs, broken other bones, smashed in face, missing teeth, my body numb from the hips down, and a severe head injury with a hematoma could just be ignored. Maybe I was not thinking straight!
My wife suggested that we should sit down with an attorney regarding the accident, and I reluctantly took a meeting with Paula McCandliss from Brett Law. I wasn’t keen on lawyers, and I did not put much effort into the meeting. My thoughts were that I’d quickly get over my bumps and bruises and Paula would be wasting her time with my case. Well, I was not thinking straight, and thank goodness for Paula putting up with my callousness.
The physicians and hospital staff did a respectable job putting me back together, but it’s hard for them to determine the extent of the injuries, and of course the medical profession cannot get you back to 100%. After my discharge It took time for me and my primary physician et. al. to determine my ongoing care and what medical problems would be permanent.
Let me say this- I was fortunate to have met Paula and her team at Brett Law. They were always personal, professional, and caring, and not to mention they worked tirelessly on my case. It was ‘my bad’ to assume that they were just a firm chasing an ambulance. To my ignorance, I didn’t perceive the onslaught of hospital and specialty physician invoices, the art of dealing with medical and auto insurance companies along with collection agencies on invoices that were never presented to me. Paula helped us get through all these unforeseen hurdles with kindness, legal insight, and experience. She is a great coach to lead you through the myriad of difficulties you may face after a painful accident, and I highly recommend her. You will appreciate both her legal skill and warm personality.

I would consider Steve Chance to be one in a million. He is one of two lawyers that I have dealt with in my lifetime that had the honesty and fortitude to lay our case out in black and white. He explained the weaknesses and the strengths that our case had and did not make ANY hyped promises as to what we could expect. He has a quick mind and doesn't miss a point during depositions or trial. You would be hard pressed to find ANY lawyer that walks into a meeting as well prepared as Steve. I have several friends and family who are medical physicians/doctors and after explaining my situation
and providing the evidence to those friends and family they said I had an extremely strong case. Mr. Mumford's office took less than a day to get back to me declining my case. They didn't even have the consideration of sitting down and chatting with me in more detail or bother looking at my evidence. No explanation on why they couldn't take my case. Just a simple "We'll not be considering your case at this time".

Called this attorneys office looking to have them do an owner financing contract for us. The lady that answered the phone was asking numerous questions that a lay person would not know unless you were well versed in the subject. I explained to her that's why we were calling for attorney assistance and this route was suggested by our realtor. She very much enjoyed talking down to me. Do not go to TMAnderson for your legal problems. After paying a few thousand dollars for a representative in a case where I wasn’t able to make the court date, I was just met with stress and stupidity from the firm. After delaying my court date, I had randomly received a phone call alerting me that I have a mandatory court appearance the next morning, them being completely oblivious to the fact that I had already mentioned that I cannot make it due to living on the other side of the state. When I appeared via zoom call last minute, the judge on the case tore into Tom Dunn, my representative, for failing to provide any signed documents stating I approved of the zoom appearance, as well as failing to provide evidence of my completed traffic course of which I sent evidence to weeks in advance. After court, I wasn’t given any instruction to the process of paying the fines and was ignored by Elizabeth Fish and Tom Dunn when I sent countless emails asking about the payment process. Elizabeth Fish had a horrible attitude when she wasn’t ignoring my emails or phone calls, and I still haven’t heard anything from Tom Dunn. When requesting for some sort of reimbursement for their lack of effort, I was met with a email telling me that it wasn’t possible, and that basically my thousands of dollars had gone down the drain.

My husband died May 11,2020,Had an open claim with Labor Industries Self-insured Claim.I have called my/this attorney unable to get through. Secretary says on a line, busy ect. Leave message to call me , never does. Received a letter from him January 10th that said they had received a portion of my husband's settlement. Said " Enclosed please find a check with the proceeds of that payment less full attorney fees plus $23 in miscellaneous. Nothing ENCLOSED ,NOTHING,I have called several times to talk with him..He is always with a client,and unable to speak with me according to the secretary. There was NO CHECK enclosed! That is the truth.I have not recieved anything. I try to call about the missing check. I have NO money, been waiting for help since my husband died. To recieve a letter from my attorney, that says enclosed please find a check with the proceeds...and NOTHING there, was very disheartening. No words to explain what I am going through. . Depending on and attorney that doesn't reach out to his client even after leaving a message. Letter stated self-injured employer has paid $30,7771.41 and I has the widow, have not recieved a dime...At this point in time I would probably think twice if asked about my attorney.
