Wayne represented me in my divorce, my bankruptcy and advised me on overdue child support. Each case worked out in my favor, which I completely credit Mr. Pearsall. He represented me with the upmost respect. I would highly recommend Wayne to advise on any legal matter. Later, I realized his fee probably did not even completely cover the court costs. Wayne also represented my mother in her divorce as well as advising my son. We all agree, Wayne truly helped each of us and guided us in the right direction in our time of need.

Wayne represented me. I was not able to pay much at that time and that's the service I got. NOT MUCH. It wasn't until I began law school that I realized how ineffective he was. He didn't argue "elements of the crime". The case was attempted theft. At hearing I myself raised the issue of ownership which had not been established. A second case was burglary. However, one element of burglary is the "intent to commit a second crime". There was no second charge in that case and the owner of the house testified, "I am responsible... I told him to help himself to whatever he wanted." Wayne said we could appeal but then did not file a timely appeal. The mess is still not cleared up.

Mr. Pearsall is one of a kind. His knowledge of the law is second to none. It's his personality that separates him from the rest. He's as down to earth as they get and yet professional when called to duty. He took on my case and although it was not anticipated to continue for almost a year, due to dirty antics and such from our opponents. He knocked it out of the park in the last inning. He is the best !

For anyone considering hiring this firm for divorce representation, I highly encourage you to reconsider. Upon retaining them for my own proceeding, I had thought I was hiring the best in Cleveland. In every aspect I felt I was under-represented and there was a complete disregard for communication and explanation of processes. Unanswered emails, phone calls never returned, attempts to reach out to senior partners (that never responded) to try and resolve matters. In short, I can only say that as one of the most stressful situations you will face in life, it is my opinion that you will only be compounding that stress in hiring this firm. A truly disappointing experience.

People try to find lawyer because they need help. They have a income guideline, $60,000 a year. If I have a child and need the child support, isn't obvious I don't make that kind of money. Especially while in school. Terrible. Layers just don't care anymore

I was never visited by this attorney and when it came to trial day she used information entirely irrelevant to me case as a defense and for a an agreement that got out offhand she got me three years in prisons, my mother in the heat of the agruement pushed me and I pushed her back, from preliminary in municipal court, to pretrial to trial her story constantly changed it went for I hit her and pushed her in the police report to trial where she made it sound as if I beat her senslessly. This woman is use less, I am going to upon my on expense gather all the reports for comparison and open a legal, malpractice case against her I highly advise staying away from her

This attorney is a DIAMOND in legal representation! At the time I hired her in 2022 I was in the most horrific private custody battle. My previous attorney was horrendous. The majority of other attorney's either flat out turned down my case or wanted a $20,000 retainer. Mary Jo listened to what was happening and jumped in with both barrels blazing. For the first time in 2 years, I felt like my attorney was on my side. She fought and advocated for me. She contacted me the morning of hearings to check in. My previous attorney NEVER provided guidance on hearings. Money - remember how I said most attorney's wanted an outrageous retainer? Not Mary Jo. She asked for a reasonable retainer and throughout my case has not over charged. My previous attorney billed 8.50 for an email with less than 5 words. Mary Jo does not believe in that predatory billing. Choose her, I promise you will be forever grateful you did!!!

My wife and I engaged Mary Jo Hanson for a step-parent adoption, confident in her claim of expertise in such cases. Despite promptly paying a retainer, to say that our experience with her was less than satisfactory would be a gross misscharacterisation. Over two years, communication was scarce, and it became evident that she requested unnecessary information and purportedly filed documents that were never submitted. After deciding to navigate the process ourselves, we discovered that the adoption procedure was more straightforward than initially presented. In a matter of months, we successfully completed all necessary forms and procedures independently. Subsequently, we requested a refund from Ms. Hanson, who declined, leading us to pursue legal action. Throughout the court proceedings, Ms. Hanson exhibited a consistently rude and disrespectful demeanor. Fabricating information and providing conflicting accounts during phone conversations, she demonstrated a lack of professionalism. In court, she continued with false statements and repeatedly referred to my wife by the wrong name, despite corrections. We discovered her actual lack of experience in these cases and her main intention being to use our money and case to learn from...that is not what we paid for. Despite her requests for numerous continuances, we eventually had our day in court. The judge found Ms. Hanson's claims of filing documents to be untrue, while our case was supported by clear evidence. Despite a judgment in our favor, Ms. Hanson has made no attempt to fulfill the court-ordered payment. We are currently exploring additional avenues to collect but it has been nearly a year since the judgement was ordered and over three years since we paid her. Our intention in sharing this experience is to inform others considering legal services from Ms. Hanson. Had we known about her unprofessional practices, we would not have chosen her for such an important matter. We hope our story aids others in making more informed decisions when seeking legal representation.

Mary Jo is an unorganized liar and only wants your money. She will not do anything right for a client who is African American. She will lie her way through to be retained and after she is retained she will not do anything you ask even if it’s beneficial to your case even if you give her enough evidence to do so she will find reasons not to. If she knows anyone personally on your case, she will side with them and set your case up to fail. She will not keep you updated with your case nor with your fees and overcharge you constantly for the smallest things. She will constantly request you to come into her office so she can over charge you for nothing. She will also overcharge you for every call or text message you send her. If she tells you she personally knows anyone on your case do not hire her. If your African America. DO NOT HIRE HER!!!! She will secretly work with them against you. She will even try to call you a liar and say you didn’t request something. Every African American client is treated as if they are ignorant of the law and as if she knows best. I suggest everyone who has an issue with her to make a review for everyone to see and to file a Grievance against her through the Supreme Court and the American Bar Association. The more grievances the greater outcome of her being disciplined.

Mr. Bondra was a great help to my son. He walked our family through the process of resolving my son's criminal matter in a way that led to my son both being held accountable and him being able to have a second chance. Today, my son's future looks good.

Attorney Anthony Bondra represented me and was very professional and very well educated in regards to my case. I would highly recommend him. I dealt with other lawyers when this matter came about, and Mr. Bondra by far was the most knowledgeable when it came to the laws. I refer him to everyone now.

My sister was a victim of an assault case and Mr. Sauline kept in contact with us quite often. He seemed like he cared about helping us and not just putting someone away. If I am ever the victim of a crime or if something happens to my family again, I hope he gets the case again.

He was a total disappointment . Apparently he does improv on the side and must. not be very good at it. He totally plagiarized the other counsel and came up with no original material . It was frustrating and I almost felt sorry for him. He put on a terrible show. Do not recommend him.

Mr. Bashien came highly recommended, but within 6 weeks, I began to see red flags. He took 2 weeks to respond to a simple phone call. He failed to show for a hearing after confirming that he would be there, and failed to communicate in any way about the 2d hearing. I requested that he withdraw a motion that he made without consultation, and he failed to respond to my request, or communicate in any way. I discharged him, and am happy with my new attorney.

She took my case about 8 months ago. The store owner ignored her attempts to send collect his insurance through the mail and that was it. All I got was a text from her secretary every 5 weeks or so. Currently have a case and I'm with the Keaton Firm and it's a much better feeling.

Ms. Paris was very efficient, professional, but also friendly and understanding. She was a pleasure to work with and I felt confident in her abilities to handle my case. Through such a difficult time it was a relief to have a competent lawyer who was also easy to talk to. After my accident, it was overwhelming talking to the insurance companies, while also being in pain. As soon as Ms. Paris became involved all that worry was taken off my shoulders and I could focus on getting better. I had an idea of what my compensation for this case should be and she exceeded it. I highly recommend going with Ms. Paris.

*STAY AWAY!* Pamela J. MacAdams DESTROYED our lives. We are the Odetallah children (4), that were the victims of lies, with emails to prove against her deception withheld from court. Macadams vouched for an absent, neglectful, and abusive father, that influenced the judge to reallocate custody to a monster. My stay at home mother of 20 years, has been receiving NO CHILD SUPPORT. We continue to live with our mother since birth. MacAdams biased swaying of the judge has been a direct cause of: -NO CHILD SUPPORT FOR THE 4 MINOR CHILDREN -Severe health emergencies -Numerous preventable police reports from We The Children towards our father, of his physical, psychological, and emotional abuse -No food for the children -No annual glasses for 2 kids -No driver’s license -No gas -No clothing -Living with no money to repair mold

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
