Dave and his team are truly the best at what they do. I stumbled upon Dave when asking a question on Avvo after I had my identity stolen. I was referred to the Finkel Law Firm, specifically Dylan Glick by the SC Lawyer Referral Service. I was scheduled with an appointment for 10/3/24 @ 9am which was a 3 week wait. I called at 9:05 am since no one had contacted me. I was told I was Mr. Glick was tied up on another call, then I was told Mr. Glick does not have me on his schedule. I was put on hold yet again and another person came on telling me my appointment was at 2pm and she never schedules consults for early morning! I'm not really certain why I was treated this way; however, it's absolutely unacceptable. Perhaps because I was referred by the SC Lawyer Referral Service and they discount their fee for the initial consultation. I did reach back out to the SC Lawyer Referral Service to file a complaint and also to find a different attorney for my specific need!

Ryan Lane and his office staff are to be commended. Mr. Lane represented me to modify a divorce regarding child support. I truly experienced justice with him. I told him several different outcomes I wanted as far as child support. He thoroughly explained why some things would I wanted were in line with child support law and why some things wouldn’t be good because they weren’t in line with the law. It is my opinion that this law firm has very aggressive billing practices and rates. When dealing with Chris Archer I mustered together $7,500 that I did not have at the time due to the circumstances of my case and literally being left with nothing but a car and clothes on my back. I did this to try to see my toddler child whom was taken from me and transported across country.
The majority of that $7,500 retainer was used up in what seemed to be a matter of days with absolutely nothing accomplished. I have since used other attorneys and it has taken them months to reach that same $7,500 quota while they did more work and attended multiple hearings.
In hindsight, it’s my opinion, that Chris Archer should have never even taken my case with the legal knowledge that he should possess. Due to the circumstances of my case he was unable to accomplish anything on my behalf and he (in hindsight and in my opinion) should have known as much before accepting the retainer.
When choosing an attorney do not forget that they are not your friends. They are operating a business. The goal is for them to make money and take care of their family (not yours). Someone has to pay for that office in Downtown Columbia. Do your own research and make the best decision for you. You won’t get a second chance.

I hired Charley Krawczyk at Finkel Law Firm to try and save a case that my previous attorney had blundered. Gerald and his team were so organized and his expert witnesses were so good that he won the biggest verdict ever in Hall County, GA., according to Jakob Medley's grandmother. Jakob needed a breathing tube when he was born, but it took eight minutes for the hospital to supply one, and he was born terribly brain injured. The $8.5 million the jury awarded showed they agreed the hospital was at fault. Jakob's grandmother now will have the financial means to give him the best life possible. She has nothing but praise for Gerald and would recommend him to anyone.

Ken won a $6.5 million settlement for the Riveras, whose son was born brain-injured at the hospital at Ft. Hood, TX. According to the lawsuit, Kasie Rivera’s pregnancy had been proceeding normally until near the end of her term, when the doctors decided to induce labor because the baby’s growth slowed down. Even though fetal heart monitoring showed the baby was in distress in the womb, the doctors kept Kasie laboring instead of doing a C-section. When the baby was born he was severely brain injured. Suing a government hospital is hard, but Ken did a great job and got the Riveras a settlement that will help them take care of their son for the rest of his life. Based on what he did for the Riveras, I think Ken would do a wonderful job for anyone needing his help.

Paul was the 2nd chair in my case which involved defamation and civil conspiracy. It involved my termination that was based on a new manager that recruited members of my staff to misuse a corporate hotline and make false allegations. There were other events that ensued over the course of a 90 day period before I was let go.
We took on a major corporation who had retained an attorney that enjoyed telling us more than once that he was a Duke School of Law graduate and he had 30 years of trial experience.
He and my lead attorney worked together as a team to present my case and I was included in the intense preparation. Each idea was thoughtfully discussed and we game planned together to make the story flow for a jury. He also provided valuable critique to help me keep my testimony sharper so that the jury would focus on the real issues. We all worked together once we got the jury list to do quick online research of the potential jurors. Paul offered significant input into each name.
When J. Paul Porter did the close on my case, he was all of 26 years old. His closing was masterful. He pointed out each inconsistency and argued each point.
We were also up against a hostile judge that could hardly contain his admiration for the defense counsel, and key points of our evidence were excluded, including the fact that my manager was not properly licensed in SC to be a nurse at the time she was spreading false statements about my competency and character. So the odds were against us.
At the time of our verdict the average defamation in SC brought somewhere between 7-15,000K. Not a bad day's work for "kid" against a seasoned 30 year veteran.
Paul is young and a good trial lawyer. The jury responded well to his questioning of witnesses and his closing. The only cure for "youth" is life experience and he is getting that. He has positioned himself in a position of being mentored by one of the best in employment law, J. Lewis Cromer.
The verdict was delivered almost 18 months ago. I have stayed in touch w/ both he and my lead attorney. You can't go to war against an impossible opponent and come out w/ a win and not feel a closeness you fought along beside.
In my case, it was never about the money, although I did suffer financially b/c of the actions of others. To me, it was about my reputation and the damage that had been done. The size of the verdict was a resounding rebuke of a major corporation and the corruption that has been exposed as being hospital wide.

Mr. Koon gave the best advice to my husband and I in regards to falsely charged of a crime he didn't commit. Mr. Koon went above and beyond on the case in front of judge and the grand jury without any hesitation. Not once did he bat an eye at taking our case on and I'm well we're extremely impressed with Mr. Koon. If accused of the criminal charges they wanted to charge him with actually happened he was facing major time.
