This is in regards to a slip and fall accident I had on September 23, 2013. This slip and fall caused injury to my left knee and middle of my back. Because of this slip and fall I had a meniscus tear, strained ligament and plica problem with my left knee, a bulge in one of my discs in my back. Because of this I had to undergo months of physical therapy, ended up having left knee surgery and then continuing physical therapy for another couple of months. I hired Moody Law firm in order for them to assist me with getting my medical bills paid etc.. I cannot thank them enough for their assistance during this horrible time in my life, from the very beginning until the close of this case they were extremely helpful, kind and considerate of the situation. Mr. Spurgin (who is one of the lawyers with Moody Law) was not only very professional and knowledgeable in these matters; but was extremely kind and understanding in all aspects of this situation. His legal staff were exceptional, there was never a time I could not reach them with any questions, concerns I may have had during this case. They answered every question and concern I had, whether it was a simple one to a difficult one. I always received the utmost care, concern and felt as if I were the only case they had. Never once did I feel as if they did not care, or I was just a “number”. This law firm is exceptional in the way they handle each individual person. They show the utmost care, understanding and definitely go above and beyond their duties as personal injury lawyers. I will be forever indebted to them, because not only did they solve my case; but they stood by me every step of the way through-out the legal process, explaining every step, or question I may have had through-out this ordeal. They never once looked upon any of my questions, concerns as minor and replied back to me immediately. It was a stressful time for me having to experience a slip and fall injury, but they truly made the process easier due to their care, concern and regard of not just the injury itself; but of me as a person. Whilst I was experiencing this injury to include the pain, the inability to be able to function normally because of it and all the physical therapy, surgery it entailed. But during this time my sister was diagnosed with cancer, and ultimately died from it. So, not only were they very supportive of my personal injury, they were extremely supportive of what I was going through whilst trying to cope with my sister’s illness and ultimate death. I most certainly was blessed having them on “my side” so to speak, and will be (as I stated before) eternally grateful to all of them, they really do go above and beyond and are an exceptional law

One month after paying retainer and this attorney has not even made contact with his client in jail. Has not filed motions promised. Has not requested discovery as promised. Will not take my calls and will not return calls. A very poor excuse for an attorney in my opinion. I can not even fathom how or why he is an attorney. Do not waste your loved ones time or your money on this guy. Will be calling the Fl. Bar Association.

I met Mr. Burnetti when my GF was in a car accident. She got a nice settlement for her injuries, so I called when I was rear-ended. He explained everything and his staff was so friendly any time I called with a question. I just settled for the maximum amount and he even got my medical bills reduced! I would highly recommend Dean Burnetti Law to anyone who is injured.

I hired Dean Burnettilaw firm after personal injury. I broke my neck . I spent 4 years trying to get this resolved. I went through 4 different legal assistants. Had to explain to all 4 about my case. They barely returned any calls, emails, texts. A couple of times they thought I was another client . They got my information mixed up several times. I see poke with Mr Burnetti on a Friday afternoon, he said an agreement had been met and he would call me that following Monday with the details. Several weeks went by, just before the limit of time for my case was I g I t a notification my case had been dropped. I made several calls , no answers. I never received the settlement. I too decided to hire this attorney because he seemed like an honest Christian. I will forever have hardships from my accident, including financial. He did nothing for me.

Mr. Burnetti represented me for injuries I got in a car crash. He got me the full policy limits without even having to file a lawsuit! More importantly, Mr, Burnetti is a man of faith. He prayed with me, provided me with Bible verses and listened. I can tell you from experience that Dean Burnetti is a warrior for Christ!

Contracted w/firm end-of-Oct, '16, after aggressive solicitation for WC TBI case. Had to BEG for single talk w/Feddeler before he 'assigned' me to Bradley Smith. 2 talks w/attys in almost 4 months! There seems to be no administration going on in this firm. Smith's asst. is (now, after months of doing very very little) sending me notices of action AFTER I have sent her 'request to discharge firm'. Is ANYONE running this office? No trust in them whatsoever.

Carl Feddeler is very knowledgeable in Workers Compensation Law. He listened to my complaints and my needs. He then provided me with legal help when it came to dealing with an insurance adjuster, and the insurance company's attorneys for more then several years. During many mediations he put my best interest first. By asking for the items that I only needed. The outcomes from the mediations were always in my favor.

Bankruptcy issue. Communication with attorney was practically non-existent. Most contact was with paralegal. I had to contact her each time as issue arose. There were two times that she didn't respond to an inquiry at all and almost cost me additional money. Will not consult with him again nor recommend to anyone. Very disappointing.

I used rthis attorney oncee and he did not finished the job and do what was agreed. He said he would allow 3-4 hours free and the next time I need him. When I called and asked to use them, he went off on me and said I didn.t pay him last time and would not honor the free time. I had a case with a settlement and he took his money off the top, he paid himself on the first case. I am a single father of a five-year-old Little girl and also pay child support on another daughter. This law firm and their reckless and inept Doctor financially wrecked my family. Choosing this law firm was the worst possible mistake I could've made. Please do not make the same mistake. I was victimized more by Burnetti Pa's Jeff Diamond and Sarah and their Doctors than the actual person that caused the accident. At least he was honest and admitted to what he did. The driver that hit me told the police he was looking at his phone, and another driver with a dash cam sent me a copy of the accident on video. AND THEY STILL MANAGED TO RUIN MY CASE. And when I asked them to address the problems that was going on in the case they told me I was asking them to do something unethical or illegal. Since when is asking someone to do their job a reason for such allegations. I sat around over 6 weeks not working thinking the matter was taken care of and further running my family into to debt to get by based on counting on Burnetti Pa. The doctor's office called Physicians Group on Himes Ave that they sent me to completely wrecked the case over a simple mistake. And instead of owning up to the mistake and correcting it they all left me and my daughter to suffer for their wrong. And I had to catch the mistake, the attorney didn't even know. I have 3 college degrees and I assure you I can tell when a Dr tells me to go back to work or not. Physicians Group on Himes Ave do not care one single bit if you and your family get your money as long as they get their medical bills paid. There has been constant legal problems for Physicians group and them taking advantage of people through it's founders the 1800 Ask Gary and 411 pain networks. Google 411 pain and Physicians group. This is who Burnetti aligns themselves with. YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER TO THEM BOTH. They both want to run up medical bills that is what they do. The only thing that Burnetti PA was aggressive about was getting me to sign away my case to them and from there they did nothing. A month after accepting my case they still did not have the police report and I had to go get it myself and fight with the insurance company myself to get them to take liability for the case. And even though their investigator and Jeff Diamond told me they would help me with my car repairs if I needed it that turned out to be a lie just to get me to sign with their firm. Later they informed me they do not handle that. Lol. That's unethical and illegal. This firm has caused my family a lot of undue stress please do not make the same mistake. The firm and the doctor's office knew that me and my daughter just lost our best friend that was like family to cancer the prior week and they still could not be bothered to return a call or do their job and left me suffering all holiday weekend. Worst law firm ever. I was trying to buy a home for me and my little girl and now I am pawning things to pay rent with no relief in sight BECAUSE OF THEM. BEWARE!! PS That Dr Office employee was so rude to my 5 year old lil girl the first time I brought her I didn't have the heart to make her go back with me. I had to cancel appointments to not have to bring her back. My kid wouldn't stop bringing it up, seriously.

We used him for a case which I found out later that it was actually not what it appeared to be. Created a buisness and when the job was done this attorney didnt dissolve the buisness, he continued it but changed officers and signed our names??. We were the officers he was only our attorney and had another person as a registered agent. He continued the buisness in our name claimed we sold stock to him never received the money for anything and thought it was a closed case. he used this buisness for his own personal use later and bought and sold property under the buisnesses fictcious name? Very expensive. Has he not had several DUI's? I was under the impression he has never had any misconduct by the bar I dont know though?

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
