During our estate plan, Richard was very patient and flexible in walking us through the process. One of the reasons I wanted to work with Richard on such an important area was because of how trustworthy he is. Based on published reviews for Sari Kurland, I hired her for a help and paid $5,000.00 retainer in February 2024. I request a few times appointment, and she refused to meet with me. As of today no word from her, no bill and no refund. We are all stun by her dishonesty.

My mother accumulated a lot of credit card debt which I discovered upon helping her with finances and her health following a stroke. Due to her stroke, she was unaware of the gravity of this situation. Paying off her debts were increasingly becoming a huge burden to her financially as she also needed to be cared for at least 75% of the day. Upon researching and contacting local law firms handling bankruptcy cases, we discovered the Kurland Law Group. An initial contact from their office was quickly followed by an initial phone conference with one of their attorneys, to determine the type of bankruptcy my mother would qualify for. Following the phone conference, emails were sent to inform my mother and I the procedure, the contract, and paperwork requirements. While the process seemed to take a long time, as long as we provided all the information required, the Kurland Law Group was quick to do their end of the process. There was always good and clear communication. They made the bankruptcy process seamless. Attorney Hope and her assistant thoroughly briefed my mother prior to the meeting with the creditors. Audrey was great, supportive and reliable. each time i called she was responsive and i am thankful for her effort, she came to court about 10 time for my case and did not ask for any extra time cost which i think she did it because i had to pay a big amount of return to my client and she knew that was putting me in a tight financial situation and was the only way to get out of the mess, That to me is valuable in a person.
Something we should know that i learned is lawyers work based on the document you have not your story, I was almost getting charges and being guilty because i pleaded guilty but i realized I have to dig into my document and send them to her which took my hours and days and when I sent them she started to organize them and send me things for correction and presented a great defense and finally from pleading guilty the case dropped and all charges to Null.

A few years ago, I was the victim of a hit and run accident in Silver Spring, MD. The driver fled the scene after hitting my left leg, under the influence of opiates prescribed for his mental illness. I was left terrified and alone with an ACL tear. Luckily, I was able to memorize the driver’s license plate.
Upon consultation with Mr. Morgenstern, all was well and I was told everything was rather clear cut and could be easily handled. When I met without Mr. Morgenstern in person as an African-American woman, I was suddenly met with apathy.
Mr. Morgenstern stepped away from litigation of my case and gave the job to one of his partners. The man was so rude and condescending I honestly forgot his name. He looked at me with disgust during my deposition, looked at me with astonishment when I told him I was a college student on an honors scholarship, and repeatedly told me to fix my posture and general appearance during court.
Without my knowledge, Morgenstern and his partner worked directly with the defendant’s lawyers to come up with a mutual process to effectively dismiss the case. I watched before my trial as Morgenstern paid more attention and care to the lawyer he was supposed to be defending me against. It was demoralizing and wholly unacceptable.
During deposition the driver who hit me stated on record that he had even been in a vehicular incident similar, killing a deer. He also stated how the medicine for his bipolar disorder was recently changed. The facts lined up so clear cut in this case a circus clown who failed the BAR could have won it. There were obviously much more sinister hands at play.
At the end of my case, I walked away with nothing, the driver (who was guilty of a hit and run) walked away without fault, and his insurance did not cover all of my medical bills. Mr. Morgenstern’s partner told me with a smile that I would not be able to purchase a home well into my 30s because of it.
Five years later, at the age of 26, I bought a home with excellent credit and am happily married to a lawyer who’s family has been delegates and politicians in this state for generations.
This experience taught me that some lawyers only care about themselves and do absolutely NOTHING to service their communities. This experience also taught me to stick to diverse litigation in all of my legal matters. If your lawyer does not understand or empathize with you as a person, they will NOT work their hardest to win your case.
If you are a minority, I urge you to not waste your time or precious energy by being devalued by this law firm.

March 2014, I was hit by a D.C. Circulator bus walking
in the cross walk with ample seconds to cross. Hit on
my left side, I suffered multiple fractures of my left
wrist and extensive bruising on my left side as well.
A visitor to D.C., I returned to Chicago and one week later,
Dr. Daniel Mass at the University of Chicago operated on my wrist.

Almost three years of giving me the run around regarding my case, Thomas contacted me the last week before the statue of limitations expired, and informed me that he couldn’t proceed with my case. I have sent him numerous emails and left him hundreds of voice mails but he never contacted me whatsoever. He only responded after I emailed him and informed him I was filing a complaint with the bar association (I have the paper work to prove my attempts to teach him and get an answer regarding my case).

Do not hire this attorney or this law firm. I hired Mr. Bender for a
medical malpractice case he completely misrepresented himself
and his abilities. He never gave a monthly accounting of fees.
He said he had forty years experience yet could not handle the defense at trial.
He did not have any support staff. Very low budget law firm.

Stay away from him. It's impossible to communicate with him given his bad attitude, nasty temper and some sort of learning disability. He turned a successful case into a disastrous failure for no apparent reason. He did not discuss the pros and cons of his approach and at the end of the process his charges turned out to be more that what the opposing side had asked to settle! Then the final outcome was a financial disaster for which I have to pay with my really hard-earned money forever.
He should retire or better, be disbarred. A combination of greed and bad attitude plus incompetence. There was absolutely no reason not to settle but he made his money and "took tremendous pleasure" in ignoring the opposing attorney (who was actually more professional than him) basically ignoring what was good for me but pleasing himself at my cost. The legal system is plagued by monsters like this who act with impunity.

I hired Justin when I was in a bad time in life he was was willing to take payments with what I made and he. This man asked due a retainer, never gave contract or receipts. He was suppose to represent fir a simple assault case and never even entered his appearance for the court. He has lied over and over saying he is doing this or that and never does it. He won't return calls and prefers to text. He was given $2750.00 and literally didn't even show on court date. He has a tacky associate that really has limited experience in what he advertises for representation. Stay far, far away
