Allison took my money for 12+ years, once I was at the best place in my case to settle, she withdrew, stating a conflict of interest. I had no conflict, I asked to go public, she didn't think it was a good idea, although we had been before. I followed her instruction and didn't go public, she still withdrew after receiving over 85k-100k of my hard earned money. I still have not received any justice.

Mary and her assistant were friendly and Mary said she would help me as she had helped another client in the same situation, (the one that referred me to her)I called frequently inquiring about my costs and to see if they needed anything else from me other than what I provided. With a looming court date I started calling almost every day. The Friday before my Tuesday court date Mary said she had not even looked at my case and would review it over the weekend to let me know my fees to pay on Monday. Her and I had spoken at length about me entire situation, as she was the one that had told me the plan of action. But that Friday she worried me. That Monday no one answered the phone in her office and my Tuesday court date came and went without council. It had a grievous effect to not have representation. I had others depending on the outcome and it would have been in my favor had she been there. I would not trust this law firm, or Mary to have your back. She lies and she does not care.

I have never had to ask Gia to help with any malpractice case but I had the privilege of meeting her and even hired to work on her property. So I know that she is not one of those ambulance chasers. You can tell that she chose malpractice attorney because of she doesn't agree with the way people are miss treated . And you know what? My mother was mistreated badly in the hospital and has a chance of dying and its caused by neglect. She will always be my first cho reason being is because I also contracted with some of the companies she has won many times in court with . I can't believe that she would stand up to these companies in court ,but she is not afraid to stand up against the biggest people in this city . I trust Gia completely

Lori Graham TOOK my money and presented in court as the worst attorney I have ever dealt with. First of all, she does not return phone calls. Her secretary, paralegal or whatever title they have, did not know anything about my case. When she finally returned my call, she acted like I was disturbing her. She was very rude. When we did go to court, it was like it was her first time hearing about my case. She was not prepared and I did not get the ruling I was expecting. Six months later, I had to hire another attorney, pay more fees, to get the proper representation I deserve. THANKS FOR NOTHING MS. GRAHAM. I would not refer anyone to Ms. Graham.

I was trying to get custody of my child, and Attorney Graham was there for me every step of the way. Her fees were reasonable, and she fought hard to prove why my child should be with me!! I work hard, and I do all that I can for my children! She saw the best in me, and believed in me and my kids. I was granted custody, and we are so happy to tell the world about the hoops and the ropes pulled to prove that my child is with who she belongs with. Child support was not the issue, I did not mind paying that. The point was, I did not like my child out in the streets all of the time, and neither did my child. The school that my child attends informed the judge that I was a super dad, and always available when they called. I am just thrilled that this attorney Mrs. Lori Graham was able to make it happen!! Forever Grateful!! Get you an attorney that cares, and she does. !!!

This lady handled a child custody case for us and it cost us a LOT of money. The judgement did not reflect what was ordered in court and even though we told her about the mistake she wanted a whole new retainer to deal with it. Even though it was a mistake that was made and she should have noticed, if she had taken the time to read it. The child support was also calculated incorrectly and when this was brought to her attention she was dismissive. She was not very agressive in court when it was needed and she left me high and dry. They served me again at a later date and because what the judge said was not reflected in the orginal statement it cost us thousands. Please do NOT use this lawyer, she is only interested in getting a retainer.. her secretary is rude and very inpolite. Find someone else.

GINGER WEST JOHNSON supports and promotes domestic violence towards blk women. As long as you have the money she will lie to Judges and put our lives at risk. She’s DANGEROUS and most definitely in cahoots with Judge Kathleen they both need to be investigated. My family member was choked and beaten up for years and finally had the courage to leave. Ginger Johnson told the Judge because of my family members’ profession she should have known to just leave. That’s completely RIDICULOUS but what’s even more RIDICULOUS the Judge denied the protective order and refused to take 15 guns from a Convicted Felon. If my family member my mom my son those children or myself are killed our blood will be on BOTH their hands.

Unfortunately there is no option for a negative star rating for this lawyer. She was paid to represent me in a divorce case. During this case, she provided little to no usable legal advice and did not keep me advised as to the status of the case during negotiations or appear to have my interests in mind. The required check for spousal support and all property agreed upon during the hearing was delivered to the opposing attorney before the divorce documents were finalized. This created a situation which allowed the opposing attorney to add additional demands after I understood this this fiasco was done. I had to employ a second lawyer to adequately finalize the legal work Ms. Ginger West Johnson was apparently unable to complete.

Ginger Johnson of Shreveport, LA was paid $6000.00 up front for a child support Not a custody case. Which she delayed the court hearing because she wasn't ready resulting in support going up and back dated to when she postponed the first hearing which cost me another $7000.00, She burned up all the money researching information that did not pertain to my case. In court she was the biggest failure possible did not show the judge any of the paperwork she should of, she wouldn't speak up and represent me as I had paid her for her duty. Then she sends me a bill stating I owe more money and if I did not pay in full by end of month she would send to collections.

I went to him seeking advice on my deceased father land. So, he lied like he had people at caddo parish court house that can research the information for me, but after two days mrs. Linda said she needed more information on my dad that I didn't have at the time, but I guess I was taking to long trying to find information that was 18yrs old and the information he lied like he was going to do for me, so they sent me a bill for $200 and he didn't do a damn thing. I ask why, and he said it was his conference fee that I was never aware of.. I ask the secretary before making the appointment of any fees and I asked him the day I visited and no fee amount was every given, but I guess he got restless after a month in half and sent me a bill. I provided him with all of the information that he have on file at this time, and he did NOTHING and now he want me to pay. I'm going to fight this to the end, these lawyers need to stop with these ridiculous fees just because they think they can. I might loose but at least I'll know I put in a fight first. So, please do not let him represent you for anything, because all he do is talk in circle and he's not saying anything to help you. I wouldn't let him represent my dog.

We had contacted John Odom for a consultation for our foreclosure issue, I had a great phone consultation with him where he was confident he could help us (he was referred to us by the Army). I received an email from him the first week of March following sending him the documents he requested for review. He said he would get back to me "next week." Well, after over 6 months, 3 messages left with his secretary, and at least 2-3 emails to attempt to follow up on the status of our case and zero response, I finally gave up. I was very disappointed since he came off well on the call and I was looking forward to working with him. He might be a fantastic lawyer, but it appears I will never find out. I wouldn't have had a problem if, in the end, he didn't think we had a case or if his workload didn't allow for our case, but I deserved a response and to be notified of that. Since we tried to be patient since we knew we weren't the only clients he had and we know things take time, we still have been unable to make headway on recouping our loses because we are now back to square one.

In the case number 5:13 c-v 02247-SMH-MLH (W.D. Louisiana), Homza filed a deficient motion to enroll [docket #22] and a deficient answer [docket #23], on December 20, 2013 and refused to filed "Corrective Documents." Eleven months later --after I filed a "Request for Entry of Default" for my Fair Housing and Civil Rights case, Homza filed a "Motion to Dismiss" my entire case. . . . I am Pro Se and not a lawyer, but the Federal Procedure rules are clear about the fact that answers must be filed within 21 days after service of process, and the December 20, 2013 so-called answer was Homza's intent to answer (rather the purposefully delay my case), Mr. Homza should know that a Motion to Dismiss should be filed prior to responsive pleadings. Prior to default request, Homza's deficient documents not stricken from the record, but with conspiracy utilized to defeat default entry. Moreover, although Homza pretends representing five defendants in this case, he has never offered Rule 26(f) disclosures

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
