I’m retired and split my time between CT and OR. My original estate plan was developed by a law firm in CT. Mr. Ryan Collier was very thorough in reviewing my original estate plan and making suggestions for the update. His review of my original estate plan identified a deficiency. Updates were incorporated into the new estate plan to protect my assets in OR & CT. Collier law firm was very helpful and responsive to any questions that arose after our initial meeting. The final documentation package provided was excellent. I would highly recommend using this firm for your estate planning needs.

Over the last few years, I had referred my mother, and then my in-laws to Collier Law for their estate and trust preparations and then my wife and I chose to use them for our trust set up most recently. We had a very bad experience with Mr. Hwang. This was the only appointment we had with him. I think he is impersonal, angry, self absorbed and not patient.
What do people need when they are going through the worst of their lives? -Patience, kindness and awareness of other people’s feelings, as death can be devastating for the family and friends.
Knowledge without these traits is like getting a big enciclopedia.
Please read all the reviews that have been written about him. I did not before setting an appointment, and regretted it.

If I had to use one word to describe my experience with Levin and Levine I’d say MAGNIFICENT!! Cameron and Michelle are truly some of the best people ever. She presented various options to us and explained the details in a manner that was easy to understand. I interviewed three law firms before selecting Stefan Wolf to be my estate planning attorney. Throughout the process of setting up a trust, will, POA and Advanced Directive he was the consummate professional. Stefan is responsive, smart, extremely knowledgeable, kind, and thorough. After a phone conference with my long-time financial planner, my planner called me and asked if I knew how lucky I was to have Stefan as my estate attorney. My planner said he works with his clients estate attorneys all the time and had never worked with someone of Stefan's caliber. High praise from my curmudgeon of a financial planner! We finished the process on-time and at the quoted flat rate despite the complexities of my estate. I worked with Karen to create a trust. The whole process was efficient, easy to understand, and thorough. She and her team listened to my needs and we got it right the first time, without any need for significant changes. I also learned about (and implemented) some planning directives I wasn't previously familiar with, such as the Advance Directive for Dementia. Overall this was a great experience, even though it can involve some difficult choices.

We have put this off for years believing it was going to be super complex but she made it easy. Karen is wonderful to work with. She clearly explains the process and laws of estate planning in Oregon, especially since it is unfamiliar territory for us. She is thorough and offers council when we needed specific guidance, but never directly told us what decision we should make, especially in regards to end of life care and decisions. We hired her specifically for estate planning, writing our wills, and establishing trusts. It can be a very daunting task, since we have never had to face the reality of planning for the future after our deaths, but Karen's process is very smooth and reassuring. We enjoyed working with Karen's calming demeanor and vast knowledge of the law surrounding trusts and estate planning. We highly recommend her!

Kent Anderson saved our house! After a significant drop in income my wife and I were having serious financial difficulties, bills were piling up unpaid, our credit cards were maxed and we were falling farther and farther behind. When the foreclosure notice came we didn’t know what we were going to do.
Kent Anderson was our saviour. He assessed our situation, gave us all the options and helped us to make an informed decision. But he didn’t stop there. He kept working for us over several years keeping our mortgage lender at bay, continuing to look for solutions when we thought it was hopeless, eventually getting our lender to modify our mortgage to a payment we could afford.
Kent Anderson is a great attorney and a genuinely good person who cares about his clients. I have recommended him many times and would again wholeheartedly.

At our family's request Ms. Symthe obtained a co-guardianship for our severely disabled adult brother. Two of his siblings were appointed co-guardians and it was done in an expedited manner as the circumstances required. Ms. Symthe consulted with our family not only throughout obtaining the guardianship, but thereafter when other issues arose as to his care. She has been superbly professional and supportive through very difficult circumstances regarding our brother. She was always available to speak to the family. The legal fees associated with our work with Ms. Smythe have been exceptionally fair and reasonable. We have appreciated working with her on every level.

Adrienne accepted my complex custody case, giving herself only 1 week to prep for the immediate danger order hearing. This was my first time dealing with the law but she was excellant at walking me through every step in the preperation process. She got straight to work and we won that case. I do not know how I would have gotten through my divorce if I had not had Adrienne as my legal counsel. From our very first interaction she was so honest which I appreciated and found refreshing. Adrienne not only knows the law, she practices always keeping the law in the forefront of any conversation or interaction, which was nice for me because it made things simple regarding what could be negotiated and what was simply the law.
She worked hard with opposing counsel to ensure the process continued to move forward as she recognized that I could not move forward in life until my divorce was finalized. Adrienne is extremely organized and has an uncanny attention to detail. I trust her implicitly and although I do not plan on getting married or divorced again, if I did find myself in that situation, I would not want any other counsel except Adrienne.
Adrienne is a fierce advocate for her clients and she really took the time to get to know me as a person, my sense of humor and values as well as my triggers (I hate that word) or issues where I could easily become emotional. Adrienne is very honest and will give it to you straight so you always know where you stand. She kept me on track, moving forward and managed my emotions with grace and compassion. Divorce is not for me and like many others I didn’t get married to get divorced, but Adrienne made it not only bearable but at times enjoyable. I should clarify, the divorce itself was not pleasant but working with her was an absolutely enjoyable experience and made one of the worst times in my life a little more bearable. We made it through as a team, with her leading the way from start to finish, and I will forever be grateful for her service and the due diligence she gave not only to my case but to me as a person.

Brian Thompson guided me through dealing with my mother's estate. We had an initial consultation where he told me to keep excellent records. I had no idea how important that emphasis would be at the time, but after that I made sure to keep everything in a spreadsheet. I don't know how I could have done this without Brian and the tax professional we used.
Along the way I found the process complicated due to some weird small investments my mother had, and selling her house. It was not a huge estate, but it was complicated.
Every time I asked Brian a question in email he answered back with clear recommendations. He even called me once when he sensed that I was confused.
I would use him again.

Mr. Wendell Belknap has been handling legal documents such as Last Will and Testament for my wife and me for many years. When my wife passed away last year, I asked Wendell for help with settling an IRA account that my wife had forgotten to link to a beneficiary. He was immediately helpful, explaining the various options available. After we selected probate as most appropriate, he carefully explained all aspects of the process, guiding me through how to get the personal representative class, summarizing assets, and formal notification (listing in local papers) for creditors, which he took care of. He referred me to another attorney who specialized in estates to help with determining the value of the estate. Additionally, Wendell personally handled communications with the IRA administrators regarding the probated estate so that appropriate paperwork would be completed.
Wendell was always available for my questions and was clearly concerned that the process should be as easy and painless as possible. While probate can take a long time, and this one did, I was never concerned with the process knowing that Wendell was watching it every step of the way. Before we met Richard, we had nothing in order -- a very very outdated will (somewhere) that didn't reflect a single aspect of our current life, kids, home, investment property, business etc. After meeting Richard, we have peace of mind! We have a living trust, will, designated guardian for our daughter, person to make medical decisions if we can't, signed docs giving us power to make medical decisions for each other, on and on. We have an enormous binder with all these documents including extremely detailed and helpful information for our next of kin and executor, should something happen to us.
