I hired Mark Myers to be my defense attorney but instead he helped his buddy, Assistant D.A. Christopher Torelli. He recommended strongly that I plead guilty to a felony charge of "Offering a False Instrument for Filing" in 2011. There was zero evidence against me, but he insisted that I'd risk up to 14 years if I went before a jury trial. Turned out that my maximum sentence, in the off-chance I were found guilty, would have been 4 years, not 14. As it stands, I wound up serving a sentence of 1-3 years anyway after following his advice. I would have been far better off going to trial. The D.A. even admitted that he held a personal bias against me, which Myers should have used to remove that particular prosecutor from the case. He didn't. Instead, he caved and in turn pressured me to cave as well with the threat of a fictional sentence. I was a low-income client and it was clear that he did not care about the outcome of my case. He also told me it was impossible for me to appeal. Turned out, once I got out of prison, that I did in fact have an opportunity to appeal. Mark Myers isn't a true lawyer in my eyes. He simply has connections in the Albany Courts that he uses for his own benefit. When needed he tosses a client to the wolves to maintain those relationships. He might suffice for minor offenses but if you are facing anything remotely serious in nature I recommend staying far, far away from this guy. You'd be better off with a public defender. I am now a convicted felon and spent seven months homeless because nobody would hire me. If I hadn't listened to the advice of Mark Myers, I would very likely have a clean record today and avoided a great deal of trauma. He should be disbarred.

I would 100% recommend Brian as an attorney. Due to the nature of my case, I had to recount numerous serious events with Brian, and he always made me feel at-ease and comfortable while doing so. What really shone through was his experience in the field. I felt he was able to provide very useful feedback due to his knowledge around cases like mine that led the outcome of my adjudication to be a success. Additionally, his response time was always super quick (I don't think I ever waited longer than two days for a response without extenuating circumstances). I asked a lot of questions about the legal process, my best options at any given point in time, evidence, etc. and Brian gave me very thoughtful answers every time. Overall, I had an extremely positive experience.

My experience with Di Ma during a real estate transaction was deeply disappointing. Despite knowing that the buyer had not paid the $50,000 earnest money deposit, Di advised my spouse and me to proceed with notarizing and shipping a deed and to continue preparing for the closing. This advice led us to spend unnecessary time and money, which we now realize could have been avoided. On October 3, 2024, Di assured us in writing that she would reimburse us for these expenses, but she ultimately failed to follow through and completely stopped responding to us.
Our new attorney also raised concerns about much of the legal advice Di gave, including her instructions on how to handle a “time is of the essence” letter and her misleading comments about the impact of using an out-of-state ID at the notary on our taxes. Based on these issues, we felt that her advice was incorrect and not in our best interest.
Additionally, I found Di to lack professionalism throughout the transaction. She appeared overly emotional and unfocused at times when I expected calm, steady guidance during such a challenging situation. The real estate field requires lawyers to help navigate their clients through stressful situations with composure, and unfortunately, Di did not meet those expectations for us.
While this was my personal experience, I would advise others to carefully consider whether they feel fully confident in the advice and professionalism of any attorney they choose to work with.

I had a consultation with this attorney and then chose to retain her. She discussed all of the things she would do during the consultation and those things unfortunately never happened. I was transparent in the consultation that this was a complex custody case. When she entered an Order to Show Cause for my case, it was terrible. I have shown that to attorneys and all of them asked where the rest of it was and stated it wasn't entered properly either. This attorney was 40 minutes late to my hearing and unprepared. When the Judge asked her questions about my case, she looked at me and told me to answer the Judge. I could have done a better job representing myself. I do not recommend her for any custody cases. She sent me invoices where she double billed me for the same service on two different occasions amounting to approximately $1100. She sent me invoices with someone else's address on them. It took about a month for me to get refunded the rest of my retainer. Hiring her was a terrible experience and I am confused by the good reviews. When I retained another attorney to represent my case, he told me that people can pay for good reviews, and he has had cases against this attorney, and she was consistently late and unprepared. If you are looking for representation for a complex custody case, please find another attorney for you and your family. If you look at her account on Avvo, there are five star reviews being entered every two days. I was told that is a site you can pay for good reviews to be posted. I would pay attention to the lower rated comments and reviews for her on lawyers.com. They seem to describe her well. I wish I had seen those before I retained her.
I am editing this so I can respond to JoAnn's response. I spoke in detail to her about my previous attorney in which JoAnn stated I needed to retain her to further eliminate more damage being done by my previous attorney. I did retain JoAnn and never thought I would have ended up in a more damaging position. There is nothing pending on the Court calendar for my case because the attorney I retained after her did their job, was prepared, and on time; the case has been resolved with my new attorney. JoAnn was also out of town excessively, took several weeks to file an Order to Show Cause which was created terribly, consistently missed phone calls from the opposing attorney, and rarely responded to me. I also don't recall her giving me any advice about my case once she was retained; she was only my attorney for one appearance when she was 40 minutes late, unprepared, and didn't know any details of my case. I wish she had responded to me as quickly as she did to my review when she was my attorney. I also wish she put that effort into my case when representing me like she did in her response to my review. I would highly recommend anyone want to retain this attorney for a complex custody case look elsewhere, and at the very least, complete several consultations with attorneys to make sure you find the correct fit for your family and your case.

I called Sarah Gold's law firm to ask about forming a LLC in New York. I did some research prior to my call but was confused as heck and was not confident in dealing with the state. Ms. Gold walked me through the process, answered my questions, and told me her fee. I thought the fee was competitive, keeping in mind it included state fees and public notice fees. We communicated online, she had to search to see if my LLC name was not prohibited or duplicative. I also asked for her to set up a DBA and she did that. It was so obvious that she new what she was doing, a true expert professional . She did all the filing, advertising and DBA in a day and I had what I legally needed hours later. she emailed me copies of the application filing, receipts and most important my official LLC. I would use Sarah Gold without any hesitation and I highly recommend you do too.

Ive hired Stephen Commins for multiple legal involvements. The first time I hired Stephen in 2016. I got arrested for a felony. Stephen got my felony dropped down to a misdemeanor, with community service and a court cost. I had 2 probation violations that i could have served 1-3 years each time but Stephen fought for me every step of the way. I served some weekends instead of a minimum of 1 year. Stephen Commins knows criminal law, very well, and his experience and confidence in the court room is a force that demands respect with any judge/D.A. I am greatful to Stephen for taking an individualized method of action to achieve the best possible results for my particular legal involvement. I would give 100×stars if that was an option., there is literally nothing i would/could suggest as an improvement, every small detail working with stephen was A+++!

Twice I tried to retain these lawyers and The first time they took their sweet time to give me a retainer so I went and got another attorney. Second time it was a referral for someone that got injured and hit by a truck and they said they take the case and then a few weeks later said they were unable to prosecute the case, I wouldn't use these people even if they were the last ones and I wish I could rate them a zero. These people are afraid to prosecute government and/or anyone else involved in government
