My husband an I had a problem with property damage caused by a licensed contractor which had filed for bankruptcy to complicate things. We had contacted other counsel and they clearly did not know how to proceed, taking weeks to respond to our inquiries. Thankfully we found Matthew! With in 24 hours of the first conversation, he filed the motion of relief from stay and knew exactly what we needed to do to solve our problem. He proved very pleasant to work with, an expert in our type of legal matter, and ultimately very successful!
His rates may not be the lowest, but his efficiency and competency is so high that he really is the best value! I can easily recommend Matthew.

My husband and I found Matt through Avvo as we were relocating from out of state and were purchasing a home without the use of a realtor. We strongly recommend Matt for multiple reasons. First, he provided sound advice on ensuring the title was free and clear and there would be no issues prior to us getting too far into the process. Second, he recommended for us to have the seller provide an updated survey at their expense since the survey was old and this was a lakefront property. Third, he was able to negotiate with the Title company and look over our owners title insurance policy to ensure we had a policy that worked in our best interest. And lastly, he made sure that our purchase agreement was written well to represent and protect us in the negotiation proceedings. These four items alone you cannot put a price on as they can be pricey issues down the road if you are not protected or if all information on the property is not disclosed properly. Matt's charges were fair and overall couldn't put a price on them because the information was better than any real estate agent could provide and it more than triple paid for what we saved in buyer realtor fees that we were able to negotiate off the price. We strongly recommend for anyone who is looking at a piece of real estate to engage with Matt instead.

Abdifatah is an amazing lawyer my scum of a landlord had a crush on me and when I denied him he tried raising my rent and gave me all sorts of redicoulus fines I had proof of him trying to hit on me text messages and phone recording and when I turned him down how he switched his whole attitude not only did I get those fines thrown away I also had my rent refunded to me for the whole year I lived at the residence to apply at my new residence all around great human being was very good at listening was very caring and extremely helpful I wasn't expecting the results I got but he's very professional and great at what he does!

I hired Drewes Law for a family to family, as-is real estate transaction so therefore a much more expensive realtor was not needed. I hired them based on the other great Google reviews and it was a great decision!
They explained the process in detail and answered all of my questions up front, then got going on the process while always keeping me in the loop. We were working through a family member who was Attorney-in-fact/Power of Attorney for my grandmother, which slightly complicated things in my opinion but it was never an issue for the Drewes team.
Toward the end there was an issue with the county rejecting some filings, to which Drewes Law reached out to me immediately to let me know, but also let me know they re-reviewed everything and told me they were confident there was no reason for the rejection. They called my county the next business day to which the county recognized the mistake and that it indeed should not have been rejected (mistake due to being down workers/having new workers due to Covid). The County immediately approved and I was sent the Deed a few days later. Excellent work and thoroughness by the Drewes Law Team!
David, Annie and Jonathan were fantastic to work with and I would recommend them to anyone needing Real Estate law representation.

J. Dudley kindly helped me resolve a case involving supposed 'damage' to an Avis rental car at DLH airport, and he was efficient, professional and timely in his response. Although I am sure it was a minor case for him, monetarily, it was a major headache and financial set-back for me when I received a claim after returning a rental car that there were 'scratches', which included a large, unreasonable bill for repair, LOU and administrative fees regardless of the fact I had photos of the car upon return showing no damages that I had caused, and an eye-witness who also verified in writing that there was no damage to car. Avis customer service dept. would not help me as they claimed that car was independently owned, of which I was never forewarned by Avis or Priceline, and only later learned that company had terrible BBB ratings and multiple complaints by clients for claims of supposed damage to cars after return. I had no leverage to deal with the rental car owner, but J. Dudley resolved the matter in 1 week and the claim was cancelled, which was a huge relief for me. I had felt powerless against a huge rental car company who unscrupulously tacked on various large fees for supposed scratches after car had already been returned undamaged to Avis airport parking lot, and was very grateful for Mr. Dudley very quickly eliminating this claim. I also appreciated that he has a sense of humor, acts human, and treats his clients with respect and concern.

Sam filed a lawsuit that requested a full refund from a contractor who was supposed to fix a broken sewer line. Six months after the job was complete, I discovered another break in the line and other problems. Sam won a full refund. An attorney where I work said it is very difficult to win cases against contractors, but Sam did it!

Sam was recommended to us by a friend after my boyfriend got a confusing traffic ticket that required him to go to court. Sam was courteous right off the bat, and went out of his way to explain what everything meant and keep us informed through out the process. He was able to get my boyfriend out of the ticket completely and also was able to get the court date moved so we didn't have to deal with it the same week we were moving. The day of, my boyfriend didn't even have to set foot in the courtroom, Sam took care of everything. Afterwards, he followed up with us. Going to traffic court felt like it was going to be a total nightmare, and Sam made it as easy and comfortable an experience as possible. He was also very reasonably priced. I would recommend Sam to any of my friends or family, he is great!

Adam listens well and acts in good faith. He told me once that 99% or all lawyers give the 1% of lawyers a bad name. I laughed. He is right. My experience with attorneys is that they only care about the money and could honestly give a damn about your problems or the impact of those problems on your life. I was victimized first by my mentally ill ex-wife and then, eventually, by the legal system itself. Many people defend our legal system as being the best in the world . . . if my personal experience has anything to say about it then the rest of the world is in a lot of trouble. Our legal system is a mess and if a judge gets something wrong--or fails to review critical evidence in your case--then you will not be happy with the result. There are corrupt child custody evaluators that work divorce cases in Minnesota. My case featured a child custody evaluator that shouldn't be able to determine the custody of lab rats much less two beautiful children. My children are currently in grave physical danger as they are presently ingratiated to a known criminal personality that the judge (based on a recommendation of the child custody evaluator) chose to allow my children to have continued access to this person. The reality is, however, that Adam Terwey did his job and represented me to the best of his ability. I do not blame Adam for a terrible decision that was engineered by a corrupt child custody evaluator. Adam continues to watch over me and offer a variety of services beyond the scope of our original agreement. He does this because he genuinely cares about my family. Very few lawyers are willing to do this for their clients. I am grateful for Adam's representation and thankful that I have an attorney that cares about something more than just money.

I first met Steve Bolton in 1983. He was a realtor back then, taking over the family business upon the sudden death of his father. Steve was the realtor that handled our first purchase in the area. I was impressed with his professionalizm and truthful and honest guidance on this sale. A coupe years later Steve was feeling the need to pursue his true passion - law. While he was a great realtor it was time to go back to school. After graduating at the top of his class he came back to Park Rapids and set up shop. With this background Steve has been invaluable as a real estate attorney. I've used his expertise several times. He's also become respected as a honest and effective estate planning attorney. Steve is someone I know I can trust for expertise and solid advice in anything I bring to him. I've used he services several times - all with perfect results. I always seek his advice before entering into a transaction. In one potential real estate transaction, in which he was advising me, he stated that if this goes wrong "you'll have an interesting case....and you don't want an interesting case." Based on that advice I backed out and was forever happy that I did and grateful for is sound advice. In conclusion Steve Bolton has been my attorney and my friend for over thirty years. Jim is a true professional, he know's every angle when dealing with defiant renters. Jim totally took over a bad situation, without him everything would have been at a standstill. I rented my beautiful home in Hibbing a couple of years ago and moved back to my home state, all was fine for the first year and a half, after that the renter lost his job and eventually quit paying rent and refused to kindly leave my home. I gave him time to catch up on the money he owed, he ignored that request and stopped taking phone calls and eventually text messages - I was totally in the dark about what was going on in my home, the neighbors would tell me what they saw but that was all. The renter at this ;point was 4 mos behind, I then called Sellman Law Office and talked to Jim, I felt at ease from that moment on. Jim took over and filed a 14 Day Notice To Quit - the renter ignored it, Jim then filed an eviction notice and took the renter to court on my behalf, thanks to Jim the Judge ordered the renter out in 4 days! The renter again ignored! JIm then filed a writ -the renter arrogant and defiant has now vacated. This is a 5 Star Attorney, he is fast on his feet in situations, answers your emails and calls, he is on it, and keeps in touch!

Jim is definitely on the ball! From the starting gate, he was willing to listen and see through my drug and criminal history to recognize the success I have had in changing my life in the last 7 years.
He accepted late evening phone calls, and prepared several Affidavits and Motions very late in the night for my review and signature. He was also very cool and collected when I was all fired up about my son's Mothers activities. Jim is willing to do the extra mile to make sure things are done correctly the first time.
From the beginning of my custody case, through to the end, Jim was there to fight for my rights, guide me through the legal maze, and steered us away from a very lengthy and expensive trial. I was awarded Temporary Physical and Legal Custody on an Ex Parte Motion, and then awarded Joint Legal and Joint Physical Custody, with my son in my care. Then, after some time went by, we were able to have my ex's visitation rights suspended indefinitely.

We hired John to complete our estate planning.
He did a great job listing out our options on what we could do so we could make an informed decision on which approach to do. It was also clear on what the costs would be to complete the work.
After we decided he had an excellent summary to help us identify our assets and other pertinent information to complete the documents.
This was completed quickly and accurately. After a review we identified a change we would like to do. He quickly updated the documents and sent a final draft.
We then set up an appointment to sign and notarize and received all documentation as well as next steps we needed to do.
I sent an e-mail while changing some personal documents and the response was quick and clear.

The majority partner in my business attempted to shut me out of the business. After my first vacation in four years, I came back to a locked office door and a response that our relationship "needed to change." I told my business partner that changing the locks on the door meant that we had no relationship. Steve made sure to understand the intricacies of my case, and felt confident that we had a strong case as a trial date was set. The other side suggested mediation, which we did, and we settled before trial. I've heard that it's a good settlement if both sides are unhappy, but I think I was more happy than the other side -- so I think I came out a little ahead.
