After being dissatisfied by the final plea deal procured by a public defender in a DWI case, which was essentially a cop out to the initial misdemeanor charge, I decided it was worth trying to start over with a private attorney. During my free consultation with Serino, MacKay, & Berube, I offered to leave my paperwork with the firm to look over while I made my decision. Kevin declined the papers, citing privacy considerations. None of the other five plus local attorneys I interviewed did this, and I interpreted it as a sign of discretion and professionalism, so I hired them. The first victory in the case came when Rich was able to arrange for my license to be temporarily reinstated during a DMV hearing. The final resolution to the criminal side of the case came within six months of my hiring them, and took the form of a gulity plea to a lesser violation (DWAI), as opposed to a misdemeanor, which is what I was hoping for from the outset. Hire this firm if you want likeable, well-connected attorneys who are recptive to client input advocating on your behalf.

A close friend referred me to Mr. Berurbe and picking him as my lawyer was the best decision I could've made for myself after the unfortunate turn of events. He was knowledgeable and fought for me, getting my case resolved in just ONE MONTH! Wonderful experience. Mark helped us with both our property sale and purchase. He was prompt, provided us with his cell and made sure we knew he could be contacted at all times. He even called me directly on a day where the firm was closed and he was also sick to let me know our closing was good to go, just so we didn't have to wait. Explained everything throughly and in lain man's terms, didn't feed us jargon. I supported my mother in finalizing her estate planning. She was able to receive the service as part of her retiree benefit package. Mr. Angelino was responsive, knowledgeable, respectful and accomodating to her needs as a senior person. We were both present for the signing of the documents. He spoke directly to her as she was the client, addressed her questions, and explained all details in layman's language. The receptionist/notary was patient and represented the office in an exceptional manner. We were both pleased with the outcome and grateful to be patrons of a local business owner. I hired a few attorneys in my day for different issues. I have to be honest. I was never 100% satisfied with any of them. It seemed to me like I was just another client to that firm. I recently had another issue and was hesitant on calling any of those lawyers back. I was referred to Mr. Pisanelli by a family member, who told me I would not regret using him. I hired Ronald Tomlins to file a petition to the court for my ex not securing the correct life insurance policy and to be reimbursed for my legal fees by my ex. During our initial phone consultation, he said the email communications with my ex would be submitted with the petition as evidence. When he eventually submitted the petition he did not include the evidence and said we had to wait until after the court appearance when my ex was found to be in contempt of court. When my ex was found to be in contempt of court Ronald said we had to wait to submit evidence after my ex secured the correct life insurance policy. During the next court appearance reimbursement for my legal fees was brought up and a hearing ensued on the spot. The evidence was not submitted to the court and I was not awarded reimbursement. I filed an objection to the findings and the judge who reviewed the case said that no evidence of my emails were submitted to the court so he couldn't reverse the finding of the court. So Ronald Tomlins misled me into believing he would share the numerous emails that were evidence my ex willfully did not obtain the correct life insurance policy.

Watch out for this guy’s billing practices. The retainer agreement that he had me sign says he bills in 6-minute increments, but he doesn’t honor that. He inflated the time he worked on my case and up-charged every interaction to 15 minutes. He charged me 15 minutes for every single email that I sent and every single response that he sent back, even if the emails contained one sentence. When I asked him to reconsider and charge me for the actual time he spent on my case, he flatly refused. When I asked him why he charged in 15 minute increments instead of 6 he said it was “standard practice”. I checked with other lawyers who said he should be honoring his retainer agreement. They also said most of the emails that he charged me for would never even show up on their invoices. These billing practices are misleading and dishonest. BEWARE!! And don’t send emails unless you absolutely have to.
