We were referred to this firm by our realtor. We were the victims of a scam artist here in San Antonio claiming to be a custom home builder. From the first phone call, we knew that Austin Navarro was a God send. He called us the Friday before Christmas and listened to and allowed us to vent while we told him our entire story. Austin never rushed us and allowed us to unload all the drama we had been going through with the "builder”. Austin was confident from the beginning that we were going to be ok. He never made promises that he didn't keep. Austin treated our case like we were family, he never gave up and he never stopped fighting for us. He was patient, professional and never acted as though we were a bother. When Austin arrived at our mediation, he came for battle. This builder has scammed a lot of innocent people in this area. He is notorious for trying to play the long game - he attempts to drag everything out until the victim runs out of money. That strategy didn't work with Austin. Austin stayed on him and his lawyer constantly. Austin was truly fighting for us the entire time. When we were stressed and ready to give up, Austin stayed positive and never failed us. Did I mention Austin was our 2nd lawyer, the first guy (another firm) just took our money and did nothing. That guy was basically manhandled by the builder’s lawyer. Austin on the other hand took our case very seriously from the first day. I have recommended Austin to all the other victims of the scam builder. (Hopefully Texas will eventually go after this guy criminally) but in the meantime- I am quite certain he never wants to hear the name Austin Navarro again. I would HIGHLY recommend Austin to anyone that needs a professional, strategic, thorough, caring and INCREDIBLE lawyer in their corner.

Looking for a Great Lawyer? Look no further, call the office of Bobby Barrera. My brother’s situation looked pretty grim. We were sure he’d be going on vacation for a while, but nope, not one day. Thank you Jesus for Bobby Barrera. Kind and professional with a touch of sense of humor that helps when you’re feeling hopeless and afraid. It was an honor to meet him, but if I don’t see him again, that’s OK! Lol! Bobby Barrera is definitely a 5 STAR in our book.

A while back I was in need of a lawyer to handle a tax issue I was having. I must admit that it literally kept me up at night, and seemed impossible to overcome. I have used Mr. Ellis many times over the last few years. This man has not only made me money. He as advised me from making poor legal chooses. He has advised me from taking legal action due to the cost. In saying this- he is very trustworthy and honest. I only wish I had a member of my staff half as bright as Mr. Ellis.

Mr. Ellis was referred by another attorney who told me that Mr. Ellis could handle my car wreck. I had 3 attorneys on this case who never helped me and would not return my calls. Those attorneys dropped my case and I found Mr. Ellis with only three days left to file the case. Mr. Ellis filed the case, contacted me whenever something was going on and even set up a mediation. I went to his office before the mediation and he told me about the process and we decided on a strategy. At the mediation he was awesome and got my case settled for more than we planned. Without Mr. Ellis my case would have been dropped but because of him I am able to move on with my life in a better position. If you a reading this wondering whether to use Mr. Ellis, do it!

My assigned attorney was Mr. Jon Byron Ellis. This isn’t an attack on him personally – it’s only focused on his performance or lack thereof during my case. It appears he has since moved on from the Baez Law Firm following the event.
As a paying client, Mr. Ellis was ill prepared for my mediation and was asking basic questions regarding my case minutes prior to negotiation. When the mediator left to speak with opposing counsel, Mr. Ellis began asking about the documents I had sent him well in advance. It was the first time he reviewed each document in detail. He was not prepared for the mediation and it was evident by the outcome. He was unable to defend or apply the law when the time arrived. For example, the mediator and opposing counsel used tactics that attacked my military retirement. Mr. Ellis was unaware of the law and specifics on how it would apply to me with only 11 years of service. I had to make him call an associate to determine what the law states regarding my situation. He also failed to bring appropriate documents to the meeting. I had to email him the product again right before the meeting. This is unacceptable and showed how ill prepared he was for my case. This was a common theme during my representation.
I lost out on thousands of dollars in items because Mr. Ellis failed to send me the wrong list of requested items from opposing counsel for my telephonic mediation. I had to ask numerous times for the list prior to mediation. I attempted numerous follow up calls and emails. Mr. Ellis did not return any of my calls following my mediation until I stated my intent to file a grievance with the State Bar of Texas. He called almost immediately thereafter.
When both Mr. Ellis and I discovered the egregious error by sending me the wrong list of items, Mr. Ellis gave me the option of not signing the agreement we developed using the wrong list or spending thousands of dollars in court/attorney fees trying to repair the error. Moreover, Mr. Ellis was hurried due to a Real Estate appointment he had to get to. I was extremely disappointed and was pressured to make a quick decision based on his appointment and the possibility of facing additional fees if I did not concur with the list.
Following my mediation I was sent on temporary duty outside the US. When I returned from a short military operation overseas (5-day operation), I received an email stating I had a balance. Mr. Ellis; office threatened to notify my supervisor of my delinquent account after a few days of being notified. I was overseas with no communication and was told they made ‘numerous’ attempts to contact me (I had 1 email and 1 phone call). The Baez Law Firm called my work center asking for me after a couple of days of their initial email/phone call. Prior to hiring the Mr. Ellis, I asked that this be handled as a civil matter and specifically asked for him not to contact my work center. For that reason I was shocked when they strongly mentioned the intent to call my leadership...which they eventually they did anyway.
The poor rating is a direct reflection of Mr. Ellis’ performance.

I strongly advise no one to ever reach out to this man, he is a sad excuse for an attorney, led me astray and made unfulfilled promises that led to me asking him to remove himself from my case. His withdraw however, was not amicable nor was it respectful, after ignoring calls for days and weeks, forgetting emails, it’ll be 8 months since I’ve seen my kids fooling with Ricardo. Countless texts & calls showing his negligence, AND THEN, attempts to blame me in his withdraw paperwork about why he’s withdrawing.

I hired this attorney in 2015 to handle a debt dispute. He requested a large retainer (upfront) and did nothing to earn it. He did as little as possible and I waited for results that never came. Ultimately, I had to hire another attorney. I am a elderly lady and every penny counts.

Back in 2010 I was arrested for possession of marijuana. I was called to court, showed up the first time and didn't go back after. I had a warrant out for my arrest and moved to California in 2011. Between then and now, my family in Texas had received many letters and phone calls from the bail bonds threatening to take my family's property etc. Just recently, I decided to take care of this issue. I called Mr. Finkel because he had dealt with a case with my family years back. I was expecting the worst, time in jail and/or a large fine because of additional prior charges. From California, I paid a low, flat rate fee to have Mr. Finkel look at the case and see what he could do for me. He made sure to stay in touch when any new information arose and kept me informed as needed. Initially, Mr. Finkel told me that I would most likely have to turn myself in and do close to 30 days in jail. After sharing more information about a potential bias in my arrest, I heard from Mr. Finkel, in less than a week, stating that the case had been dropped, completely. I am extremely pleased with his services, especially services done long distance. I can't thank him enough!

Rob Bondurant successfully followed through on a case that dragged on for several years because my opponent was a thoroughly dishonorable person. My opponent was evidently acquainted enough with the legal system to drag the case out as long as possible, hoping I would give up. but Rob patiently worked with me to resolve it. Evidently, hoping to prevail via illogical and nefarious means, my opponent went through several attorneys. I only had one.

Rob could have taken care of my case in 6 months, but he dragged it out for years. The solution for one motion to resolve things took him several years to come up with. I am not sure if he is inexperienced or if he was trying to drag things out to make more money. Any way you slice it, it was not a good experience overall.

Mr Bondurant did a great job with my divorce. He picked up where my previous lawyer had left me hanging. My case was about to be dismissed and he stepped in got an extension and then finalized the divorce within a month. He kept me informed of each step of the process. His final bill was itemized and quite fair for the quality of his service. I would highly recommend Mr Bondurant to anyone needing legal representation in a civil case.

Ms. Beck was my lawyer for a relatively easy and uncomplicated divorce (no children or major assets). After we met in person, she sent over the initial paperwork to file and my name was misspelled throughout (in two different ways!). Throughout the divorce I found her rather condescending, including, when I didn't catch part of what she was saying on a phone call (the other line was ringing, beeping over her words) and I said "Sorry?" (as I didn't hear her) and she repeated what she had said "It would behoove you." I stopped to think about my response and before I could answer she snapped "Do you not know what that means?" I have a graduate degree so, yeah, I did. She additionally made some assumptions about my political leanings, perhaps based on the part of town I was raised in, which led to some rather unfortunate comments I was uncomfortable hearing from anyone, much less someone I was giving money to or who was representing me in a serious matter. She seemed not to take seriously things I knew about the man I was divorcing and how he would react to situations. This led to more back and forth with his lawyer which meant more money out of my pocket and into hers and an even more stressful divorce. I am sure there are very few people in the world who could recommend their divorce attorney, as divorce is never a good event, but several rounds of clerical errors and inappropriate "chit chat" about sensitive political issues one does not bring up in polite conversation, left me uncomfortable in a way I should not have been.

My family and I spent a lot of money on Mrs. Vela and he didn't do a good job representing me. I had never been in trouble before and instead of working with the co defendant he worked against her. She got off with less time and less everything compared to me and her lawyer was free. I also needed him later on to try and get me off earlier and sent another $1000 in and instead he used that money for paperwork which I provided for something else. I have paid him over $8000 and 5 years later I'm still on probation. I've requested information for my case and never received it. He promised a lot and came through with nothing that makes him untrustworthy. He was never responsive I alway has to call a few times to get ahold of him. He also never kept me informed unless I made the initiative.

I was referred to Mr. Garza to represent me. We spoke several times, and he agreed to represent me. He was going to send me the representation agreement that day, or the next day. No agreement arrived. There were several more phone calls, several more promises of a forthcoming representation agreement. Meanwhile, other persons, who required the name of the person who was representing me, were becoming frantic. After about 2 months, when no agreement arrived, I gave up - and found another attorney. I never heard from Mr. Garza after the last phone call I made to him, when he yet again promised to send me the agreement.

Do not hire, you will get burnt, he will take your case so far and then quit, walk away, leave you hanging. You will be forced to hire another lawyer, to clean up his mess and finish the case, and it's not cheap. He will sit on a bad ruling because he wasn't prepared and that will hurt your case, on top of that you will get the pleasure and "expense" of filling an appeal that isn't cheap and then do the trial again. Of course I had to give him one star, because it requires something, too bad it doesn't have negative stars .

Me. Denton has been a very down to earth. He shows a interest in our case. He’s straight forward and has not come off as a money grubbing lawyer.
