Rose did a fantastic job drawing up the wills, advanced directives, and durable powers of attorney for my wife, adult daughter, and myself, and additionally defined the trust for our son who is still a minor. Two things impressed us most: 1) she went through each of the many documents with us individually until she was sure we understood them all completely; and 2) she was very patient with us when we wanted to change some things after we had a better understanding of the documents. She didn't rush us, and that meant everything to us in making sure we got the documents right. Rose is fantastic.

I can’t say enough good about Brian. Brian helped us with a petition to sell in lieu of partition case. Usually trust and lawyer aren’t used in the same sentence but in this case it is. We trust this lawyer. He’s honest, reliable and on top of his game. He an expert in estate law, knows the players and his advice is sound. He’s aims to solve issue quickly rather than drag them out unnecessarily like other lawyers do. Every time we’ve needed him, he is ALWAYS been there. He responds quickly to phone calls or email. Several years ago, my mother hired Mr. Gatesman to do a Medicaid plan for my father who was entering a nursing home. When my father’s condition suddenly got worse, Mr. Gatesman quickly changed gears, and through his fast action, all of my parents’ assets ended up in a trust under my father’s will. When she needed to move into a retirement community, he came up with a way to secure a mortgage using trust assets to secure a loan on her residence, then converting it into a rental unit that provided my mother both income and secure support through trust assets. The trust allowed my mother to continue living as she always had been living, but when she too needed nursing home care, none of the assets in the trust had to be used to pay for her care. Mr. Gatesman then guided me through the baffling process of obtaining Medicaid benefits to pay my mother’s nursing home costs. This was a daunting journey, but his attention and direction to the actions that needed to be taken made the journey successful. With Mr. Gatesman’s guidance, my parents were able to preserve all of their assets, including their home. I am very pleased with Mr. Gatesman’s representation and I highly recommend his services to others.

I was referred to Cheryl after my father passed away. He had set up Trusts for me and my brother and sister and I was the initial Trustee. Cheryl was excellent in helping me deal with my father's estate and setting up the three Trusts. Until my father passed, we had no idea that our inheritance would be in the form of irrevocable Trusts instead of outright to us. Cheryl helped us to make sure that we did not violate the terms of the Trusts. She helped us set them up to make them irrevocable and she gave us detailed instructions about how to manage the Trusts so that we did not violate my father's wishes. She also helped with the probate estate. Cheryl is helping us with ongoing Trust Administration, including taxes. We would be lost without her.

My wife and I were referred to Ms. Johnson by our financial advisor, who said that we may have to pay estate taxes. We met with Ms. Johnson and she did an amazing job explaining complex tax concepts to us--she used diagrams and had prepared a strategy guide for us before our first meeting. We ended up hiring her to draft our wills and trusts and to draft two advanced irrevocable trusts (GRATs) that moved some assets out of our taxable estates. We never knew that these GRATs existed or how they worked!

With Ms. Battaglia's assistance I was able to successfully apply for Long Term Care Medical Assistance for my father back in February 2011. I was also able to allocate my father's income to my mother, which was truly the best part of the plan Ms. Battaglia laid out for me. Now my father is being taken care of at the care facility and my mother can still maintain her lifestyle at home. We also worked with a paralegal who helped coordinate the information Ms. Battaglia needed to process the application for benefits. They worked together as a team, which helped to keep the costs down. The entire process went very smoothly and the cost for all of the legal services were less than one month of paying the facility privately!

Deborah (Debbie) Cohn set up an estate plan several years ago for
my wife and I. It was well thought out, detailed and allowed us to maximize the
estate transfer to our children.
When my wife died, I was surprised by the time and effort t required to
execute my wife's estate, even with all the legal documents in place. Debbie

I hired Caroline when I was charged with offenses in Anne Arundel County. I was charged by an ex for things that I didn’t do. Caroline was excellent from the beginning. My experience with Mr. Kan was great! I ran into a few questions when I was trying to figure out where to even start for a will and for power of attorney for my parents. I told Mr. Kan some of my concerns and he responded in such a quick and professional manner. For power of attorney, it was an agreement between my sibling and I. We both did not understand some of the definitions within the document, but Mr. Kan definitely took his time to send us additional info via email and an explanation in person during our meeting. Furthermore, I liked that he gave us both a paper copy and sent our documents electronically for future use. He also provided information on how to register my parents' wills in our county's register of wills which I was not aware of. Mr. Kan was knowledgable with the advance medical directive as well.
