He's great at harassing grieving families and helping criminals exploit the elderly. He's happy to accept money from people other than his actual client so people without standing can harass family members using this person's expertise. He gives advice that can cost you upwards of $14000, but why should he care? He bills by the hour, so whatever happens to vulnerable, elderly clients doesn't matter at all to him. Run. Just run the other way.

As the Successor Trustee of a trust having real estate co-owned by the trust and the son (who died intestate in Arkansas) of the initial trustee, I needed expert legal advice and assistance. From Alabama, I contacted Philip Schmidt by email and provided information for him to review. Based on other legal sources, I was anticipating large legal fees and Probate Court costs with the process taking considerable time
Phil reviewed the information and determined the least costly and most rapid approach to getting the son’s interest in the property transferred to his spouse followed by her deeding it to the trust. Phil kept me up-to-date on the developments throughout. Four weeks following our initial contact, he represented the trust's interests at the property sale closing. The qualities that I wanted and needed in a lawyer I found in Philip Schmidt: sound legal knowledge and expertise, integrity, patience, and an excellent communicator.

Mark is a fantastic lawyer and person. He spent a lot of his own time (free of charge) talking with us and going over details! He also gave it to us straight forward and didn’t sugar coat anything. I retained Mr. King in the spring 2021. I attempted to contact him numerous times by phone and email after I gave him the retainer. He was very slow to respond and sometimes did not at all. He always seemed quite disorganized and confused. I felt I was not very high on his priority list. Once my retainer ran out I sought a different counsel who has been wonderful.

I was referred to Attorney Stephen King by an attorney friend of mine to handle my divorce. To say the least, my divorce was complicated, both financially and emotionally. Mr. King was more than attentive from the very beginning. He was very informative every step of the way, explaining every aspect of the process to me so that I fully understood the process and my options. There was NEVER a time that I contacted Mr. King, either by phone or email, that he did not respond IMMEDIATLEY! Mr. King always had MY best interests in mind in all the decisions that were made. He consulted me every step of the way and made no decisions without my input. Mr. King brought to my attention things that I would not have even thought of without his guidance. Divorce is never an easy or pleasant process, however, Mr. King made me feel comfortable and well informed thru the entire process. I did not have a great experience with Gregory Williams. Just finalized my probate case after 3 years after the the loss of my mom. He was not a good legal counsel and the only thing he did on my behalf was file the paperwork and set up zoom calls. I could have done all this on my own. My sister and I had our own attorney's because we could not agree on things but when it came to Gregory fighting for me he was never able to come through there was always an excuse. My sister took everything out of our mom's house and never did he discuss with me because I was also co-executor I could remove things as well it was excuse after excuse. In the end my sister's attorney was the winner. I felt like Gregory was only concerned about the $$$ and definitely did not look out for my best interest. With that being said I ended up with nothing BUT attorney fee's. I had to pay for his attorney fee's and his new law firm which he moved there toward end of 2023 and their expenses were more than Gregory and had never spoke with anyone there or agreed to their fees since initially started out with Gregory. What I received from my experience is that moving forward this will NEVER happen to my two daughters. Attorney's care nothing about your loss or your grief. At least this law firm. He never had my back for me! Every request I asked for never honored always dismissed. Gregory ended up being more expensive than my sister's attorney and he did more on this probate than Gregory!! Just a joke overall!

Daniel was a great attorney. I went through a very tough divorce that usually doesn’t always end up well for the “man” in the relationship. We I was pleasantly surprised with how things ended due to Daniel doing everything necessary to make sure his client is in the best position to win. And sometimes that means Daniel has to be honest with you even when you don’t want to hear it. It is that quality that garnered great respect for him as a man and as an attorney. Brandy is also very helpful and a great asset to this law office. No, I DO NOT recommend Jack Alpern or the Alpern Law Firm! (Note: This is my opinion and no one else’s.)
Every estate planning trust should be able to withstand the test time. The original trust that Jack Alpern and his law firm created in 1987 and revised in 2001 HAS NOT withstood the test of time. Jack Alpern drafted a trust for my father that was supposed to protect my mother but more importantly was supposed to protect my special needs sister. I along with my other sister were appointed and accepted the roles of trustee for this trust. My father died in late 2002, the probate process began, an EIN number was created for the trust since my father's Social Security Number was now not valid anymore, and the trust completed its probate in early 2004. It was my understanding that the trust was to then become irrevocable now that my father who was the grantor was deceased. Money was put aside for just my mother and money was put aside for the trust that was to benefit my sister. My mother had control of her money and my sister and I had control of the money for the trust for my special needs sister. In addition, the home they lived in fell into the trust. The trust owns the home not my mother. Over the years the money to fund the trust and the value of the home have grown.
Fast forward now to 2023. My mother had to go into nursing home and is currently residing there as of today. My sister and I have began working with an attorney for the Medicaid Spend-down. My sister and I have now found out that it appears that the trust is not irrevocable but revocable. It also appears that the money that is in the actual trust could be counted for the Medicaid Spend-down along with the home that is in the trust. It appears now, that there could be no money to support my special needs sister and no home for her to live in if the trustees are forced use trust money to pay the nursing home and to sell the home for the Medicaid Spend-down. It appears that my special needs sister may need to live on just the pittance that she gets in Social Security and SSI once the government forces us to drain the trust.
This was NOT what my father or even my mother ever wanted. My special needs sister was NOT to be a financial burden to my sister or me. My special needs sister will be destitute because of Jack Alpern’s incompetence to set up the trust that my father envisioned.

My ex-fiancé who lived with me broke things off suddenly a month before the wedding and decided to make my life awful in the process.

At the same time, our grandmother - my mom’s main caregiver - was terminally ill with cancer. We had to get things in order for my grandmother and my mother. Incredibly bad communication. We engaged Mark Lavelle and he ghosted us. We tried contacting Mark Lavelle on numerous occasions over multiple weeks via phone and email regarding a time sensitive issue. He did not return our calls or emails. He also refuses to provide direct contact information and filters all communication through his secretary. He literally does not take phone calls or emails. The silver lining is we discovered his inept legal prowess prior to his actual representation. Don't waste your time on him because he obviously feels his time is wasted on clients.

My Deceased husband has been a client for 15+ years at Kelley Ferraro. Over the years I have dealt with many professional employees from attorneys to secretaries to probate, etc. I have two employees that have stood out over the years one being Bidea Kelly. I met Bidea through a business that I had had and she had turned me on to Kelley Ferraro. At that time she worked in probate and always was very personal. Bidea would give you as much information as she could or turn you on to another employee that would be able to answer your questions. The other employee is Valerie, the settlement coordinator. sometimes in a large law firm It's almost the luck of the draw what employee you get to speak to and for the last eight months I have been blessed to get Valerie. When speaking with her whether it's a question or she calls to give me information it's almost like she takes it personal as if she understands what I'm going through. I have gotten more information from Valerie in eight months then I have in the 15 years that I've been dealing With this law firm. There is much protocol / paperwork dealing with a lawsuit, as well as different departments. I always felt in the last 14 years that my case had been Unintentionally lost in the shuffle. NOT with Valerie, she knows exactly what chain the protocol has to take before a settlement and never hesitates to explain why a settlement would take as long as it does! Valerie has worked very hard on my case and I'm sure she does this for other clients as well. Of all the employees I have come in contact with I feel confident in saying Valerie enjoys her job and takes pride in being the best she can be for Kelley Ferraro !! She's a keeper!!!

Will tell you what you want to hear and when the retainer is cleared your out 5k. If the case requires him to do anything other than show up for the court date your on your own. You will be your own paralegal and still that will not be enough. And when it came time for litigation everything that we said we agreed upon and agreement that was met with other party involved was not the same as the agreement letter written so I did not sign and return. I was then called by him asking why I would not sign the papers and I told him I didn’t agree to what was in the papers he then tried to say that was what was agreed upon and if I didn’t sign them he would no longer represent me and I’d be out the money I already paid him. Not only did he take my money and run with it the attorney that referred him to me took 2k as well just for referring him.
