I became injured from an inmate working as a Correctional Peace Officer in California in February 2003.
Mr. Douglas Low is very smart and is understanding concerning work compensation. He took on my case that was 5 years old from an attorney who rolled over every time workers comp wanted me to stand down.
Mr. Low carried my case from 2011 to present- 07/2015.
I won my case on 06/19/2015, this after 11 years of SCIF trying to get rid of me.
However SCIF continues to be the bad guy, they are by not paying the correct amount as ordered by the Workers Comp. Judge and Appeals judges.
Attorney D. Low jumped on this 3 days latter by submitting a writ to the judge.

Disappointing Experience with Goldberg & Ibarra Law Firm
Let me preface this by saying, I want to believe in this firm's ability to turn things around, but so far, their client service and attention to detail have been far below acceptable standards. I plan on updating my review should I see an improvement as my case progresses. I also want to highlight that David Ibarra is an excellent attorney when you get him one on one but working with his staff has been the biggest challenge overall.
I had high hopes for the Goldberg & Ibarra law firm, but unfortunately, my experience has been riddled with issues that no client should face, especially when it comes to critical legal matters. The firm consistently fails to meet even the most basic standards for client communication and legal ethics, causing unnecessary stress and frustration.
**Communication Failures**: From the beginning, it was nearly impossible to get in touch with my attorney. Despite numerous attempts to reach out via phone and email, I was often left in the dark for weeks at a time. Not only is this a blatant disregard for the attorney-client relationship, but it also raises concerns regarding ethical obligations under the California Rules of Professional Conduct. According to Rule 1.4, attorneys are required to keep clients informed about the status of their cases, something this firm completely ignored. Specific examples include delayed responses to important case updates and a lack of transparency in terms of strategy and next steps.
**Lack of Diligence**: There were several instances where critical deadlines were nearly missed due to the staff's slow response times and lack of communication and follow through. At one point, I had to follow up repeatedly just to confirm that documents had been filed. This level of neglect could have easily jeopardized my case. The firm's disorganization not only reflects poorly on their ability to manage cases, but also risks violating Rule 1.3, which mandates that attorneys act with "reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client." It's evident they are overstretched and unable to provide the necessary attention to detail.
**Poor Client Service**: Beyond communication and diligence, the general attitude toward customer service was disheartening. After my initial consultation, there was no meaningful follow-up from their office. Even after expressing concern about the direction of my case, I was met with dismissive attitudes from the staff and no effort to reassure me. Legal ethics require a respectful and client-centered approach, but my experience was far from it.
**Final Verdict**: If you are looking for a law firm that will prioritize your case, keep you informed, and work with the diligence and ethical care that you deserve, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. Goldberg & Ibarra may have some positive outcomes, but their failure to meet basic legal and ethical standards was unacceptable in my experience.

I retained Mr. Tafoya on Sept of 2015 regarding a work injury. Mr. Tafoya and his staff were very friendly and knowledgeable from day 1. They explained the delicate workers compensation process perfectly. I was briefed on how the process was going to go, and my expectations were more than met. Before going to Tafoya & Associates I saw 2 other workers comp attorneys that were not very helpful. When I settled my case with Mr. Tafoya, I was also offered schooling to learn new skills, which was a plus. I highly recommend this firm for your workers compensation and personal injury needs.

Leo took the time to answer all my questions every time I called or emailed him within a few hours if not the very the next day.
He and his staff seem devoted to the smallest detail of my case. Sometimes I called about things that I didn't understand that would have been more obvious to me had I been through this before. He and his staff always took the time to explain things to me and to make sure that some of my fears could be resolved.
I admit that I had times of high anxiety but, the ladies there always took the time to be compassionate, to get on my level, to explain things in a way that made me feel less distressed about my circumstances.
The compassion that they shared with me in my case taught me to allow them to do their job; and by the way, my settlement ended being three times greater than what several other attorneys told me my case was worth.
Mine was a personal injury case. The job that Mr. Akulian and his staff did was far and away greater than any expectation that I may have come to the table with. Without hesitation I would recommend them above and beyond all others.

Ms. Medina really cares about her clients and working people in general. This passion can been seen in the work she did for me. The work comp. process is stacked against the worker and Ms. Medina does a great job at overcoming those barriers and getting a good settlement. She actually will meet with you one on one and seems to be very hands on with her cases. I have no idea why the other reviewer gave her such low marks, it is probably just a fake review from competition as work comp. attorneys do not get paid unless case is settled and don't get money if there is a denial or no settlement. In the 4-5 years that medina represented me, I seen her twice, couldn't get her to call me back. Because of this lack of communication I wasn't paid disability after my two surgeries. medina had 3 of her paralegal staff handle my case at different times. which would return my calls days later, all in all I ended up handling my case on my own had the surgeries without any disability. thanks to family I managed and my case is at its end. nobody will take my case cause were at the end of it already and there is no money for the lawyer. medina is going to take her part even tough I wasn't paid disability after surgery.

I’m not typically one to leave reviews but I feel it is necessary to warn anyone who is considering Spencer Gong as their lawyer. I have been trying to contact him and his office about my case for over 3 months now, left multiple voicemails but no one ever returns my call sand now their machine is too full; it’s gotten to the point where I’ve personally tried going there and now they’ve locked the office door and won’t let anyone inside. I understand that lawyers are busy but to not even be able to make an appointment and get ignored for over 3 months is just ridiculous.
I can’t hire another lawyer since my case is “too old to take on,” Im living in constant pain and they’re not even fighting for me anymore… I’m honestly ready to close my case, which Is impossible to even do!
I know there’s more I want to say but I’m too frustrated and hurt to even put it in words. Just stay away.

If you can choose a different lawyer or attorney I recommend you go elsewhere. No type of communication and really doesn’t help you with your case. I feel like they have been trying to pressure me into signing, the first time I went into the office the first thing Spencer told me was “you are not going to get rich over this” I never said I was and never planned too I was just looking for a “good” lawyer to help me with my case. I am now living with constant back pain and this office doesn’t seem to care not once did they call me to check up on me or ask me if I had any questions I was the one that would call and no one would answer. I also called and was able to talk to a lady I don’t remember her name but she told me “ you don’t need to be calling us if we need anything we will call you” I just wanted to check the status. This office doesn’t really fight for you and honestly I feel like they are more on the insurance side then on the injured workers. I don’t recommend them if you can go elsewhere just do that.

Returning phone calls is not their top priority. It can be flustrating at times. I do not live in fresno. I wanted to talk one on one and get the name of the person who was working my case. I found his staff to be courteous and help full. After talking to my case manager, I always got and answer for my question, even though I still had to call the office. Some comp. case's take a very long time to settle. They are not just cut and dried. There are many legal issues to resolve. I found this law firm does not take any short cuts and they work to make sure you receive every thing you are entitled to. I did not meet Mr. Mong'e until the day of my hearing. I was very impresses with his professionalism. He will explain what will happen when he takes you before the hearing Judge. My case was settled that day. It is hard to be patient when you don't understand the legal process but this Law Office will represent you'r interests in the best possible way. My case took over two years.

I have been ongoing with my case since 2011. I am so disappointed with this firm. I have to be the one to always call them. And they say I will call you back and they never do. There is never any resolution to anything. They never follow up unless I call them to see if they contacted the adjuster or anyone else. I have never been through a worker's comp case, but I am sure that things should not be handled as they are. And it seems to me that all they care about is there money. And not fighting my case. I became a client in 1997. My case is still ongoing. Need I say more? No return phone calls unless I send a certified letter. My comp carrier has deep pockets that we bailed out a few years ago. They have stopped providing my medications and when I call Monge's office I am told it's my doctors fault. No, it's my attorneys fault for not making them do what they are required to do.

Marcia Price "through me under the bus", in case back in 2002! As result of her ineffectiveness of counsel, I spent 33 months in county and prison! I found evidence during my trial, that should have impeached my ex-wife's testimony, just to find out, the judge(Lawrence Jones), would not allow it in court! She failed(I found out later), to do an "offer of proof", for the record, making the judge explain why he was not allowing that relevant evidence into trial, for the appeal process. This get's even worse. Not only what the Judge did was illegal, the prosecuting D.A. knew of this evidence(side bar), as well. Lisa Soundergard is now running for DA, here in Fresno, Ca. I have proof of what took place, in my transcripts. No attorney would take my case, unless I paid them $30,000 or more to fight this again. Do not trust this lady with your life.
