I'm so thankful for The Barrera Law Firm and the work they did on my workers comp case. In September 2023 I injured myself at work and ruptured my achilles tendon; a complete freak accident that left me unable to walk.
A month after surgery my employer began to harass me about coming back to work but also started contacting the doctors office behind my back to have them create a doctors note that would indicate that I'm able to return work. At that point I sought counsel with the Barrera Law firm for help.

Steven and his assistant Julia were and are the perfect professionals with the patience and expertise and experience to guide me through my first and hopefully last divorce. I was and am probably their most disorganized client ever and after a 30 relationship ended at total wreck. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and not only did they get me through the darkness but where and still are my most trusted councilors. It’s a tough process and they provide sound advice with positive results. Jason Weis represented me in a post-divorce matter to look at spousal support. This case was a bit more complicated and required hiring a couple experts and Jason was awesome throughout everything. The experts he suggested were excellent and really helped our case. He and his whole team were extremely detail oriented, kind and polite to deal with (which makes a HUGE difference to me), and were really thinking about every angle and aspect to make sure we presented the best possible case. In court, I was blown away. It was clear throughout our 3 days in court that he was the better attorney, made sure all our evidence was presented and we got everything in that we thought was important, and always kept a calm and focused demeanor. The case ended up better than I ever could have imagined and am SO thankful that I was able to find Jason. Jenny, his paralegal, was also great to work with and helped make sure all documents were provided, didn't miss anything, and kept everything for this whole case extremely organized. Mr. Kuperman and his team are top class. They made sure I got the right treatment throughout my case and anytime I had a question they were there to help me get an answer. I would like to thank the Injured Workers’ Law Firm for the work they did for me. Even though my worker’s comp case was settled in 2012 I was presented with a letter that offered me a settlement for the remaining years. Because I was also receiving additional benefits it was not just a yes or no decision. In contacting the firm and being accepted as a client by Michele Lewane I was assigned to Legal Assistant Emily Busch and Attorney Lorraine D’Angelo. They reviewed all my information and directed me to other contacts to help me make my finally decision. They did not make the choice for me but help me understand what the long-term effect would be on my finance going forward. When we first contacted Mr. Trichilo my husbands case had been denied by the insurance company and he was able to have a Full Commission reverse the ruling. Because of that My husband received a substantial lump sum payment and MSA approved annuity to make sure all future medical needs are taken care of. This was our first case and involvement with any attorney and we couldn’t be more pleased with our overall experience and outcome.

I contacted Jose when he worked for another firm a couple years ago. He understood the dire and time sensitive situation I was in. He was honest and up front with me that taking my case on such short notice, while he would do his best, he cannot commit as many resources as he would like given the short turn around time and the other cases on his plate. Having said that, he said he would take my case, but just wanted me to be aware that he might not be able to do the job 100% like he would normally do. But he also referred me to another disability lawyer in case I wanted someone who could dedicate more time to my case.
Ultimately, I chose to go with the other lawyer he referred me to because I wanted a lawyer who could dedicate his full attention to my case. And I successfully won my disability appeal. So it is clear that Jose had no ego in referring me to another very good lawyer.
I really appreciated Jose's honesty and up front nature. And the amount of time he spent helping me even though he got nothing out of it.
If Jose says he can take your case, you can be assured he will dedicate the proper amount of attention unless he tells you otherwise.

I am 53 and have suffered back issues and surgeries for 24 years. I am at the point in life where I can't take much more day to day pain. In researching about long term disability I realized this is not a "game" the average person should play alone. Honestly I did not want to spend money as I have spent thousands on medical bills this year alone. Mr. Caballe made me feel comfortable from the start of the conversation. It was encouraged that my wife participate and he included her throughout the conversation. He pointed out so many areas that I never would have thought about or considered regarding the process of filing and collection LTD. How Social Security most likely will become part of the process and the fact that I do not have to totally stop living to be considered disabled, and ways to handle that. He also told me that I most likely will have additional questions after our meeting and to feel free to call or email him and he will respond. This single outreach says to me that it is about the client and not just the money. He treated us the way both my wife and I treat people. If I need to move forward with a disability claim, I only have one phone call to make and that is comforting.

Kenneth Farino was my lawyer on a case that lasted 2 years and 3 months. And while that is a chunk of time, I can only imagine how long it would have dragged on if not for him. No question was ever too small (or too anxiety riddled). This is by far one of the best professional experiences I have ever had, and I am saying that coming from an unexpected awful situation. I am a cup half empty gal but he always had me seeing the cup half full. He is thoughtful, caring, passionate, accessible, considerate, transparent, knowledgeable, tenacious, the list goes on and on. Vanessa and her team walked me through what was the most complicated circumstance of my life. When I shared the story of my circumstance, she asked many questions about home life behavior and immediately made recommendations to rule out other factors relevant to a divorce proceeding. The plan which was put in place uncovered information I was completely blind to and provided me the detail to begin the fight of my life... for my children.

I was going out of town and had a court-hearing for a reckless ticket. Was only 14+ and he advised an online driving school I could go to out of state and represented me in court. Like many others, traveling through Virginia I received a ticket. Upon a couple of weeks, I received several letters from traffic attorneys. Jennie did a phenomenal job in representing me on a tricky speeding case. I was pulled over on the end of a downhill slope for going 90+/70 and headed for a reckless driving conviction which could have had serious consequences for me. Jennie understood what was at stake and from the beginning had very thorough explanations and always made my available options clear to me. Jennie is a life saver for my driving record in Virginia. If it wasn't for her, I may not have my license right now. Covington may be a pretty small town, but they still have strict and frequent patrolling by State Police and Local Enforcement, specifically on the Interstate for anyone that knows the area. Nonetheless, I was pinned for a 80/70 that was reduced from an 84/70 on the spot by a friendly and forgiving Officer. Jennie worked with the Commonwealth Attorney directly to allow me to take a driving safety course and avoid negative points on my record by reducing it from a speeding ticket to another type of infraction without damage to my record. She completely got me off this first time and then, flash forward close to 3 years later it happened again, only worse at 90/70, and I thought for sure I was done for considering the Officer did not cut me a break whatsoever. I thought to myself "My luck has finally run out" but she managed to get it dropped to a regular speeding ticket and avoided a misdemeanor on my record and other severe implications caused by a reckless driving ticket/borderline intent to kill ticket (Virginia does not mess around with Speeding).
In both instances, I did not even have to attend the court hearings (luckily so as I am not from that area and can't afford to miss work).
