After a severe motorcycle accident These guys helped me find a good path to take as far as moving forward in a time that was extremely chaotic and confusing. These gentlemen handled my case with the upmost professionalism and were more than happy to answer any questions I had throughout the whole experience. Their ability to kept me the loop with everything that was going on without being overbearing was top notch. They will and have always been my first recommendation for personal injury lawyers. I cannot say enough good things about these guys. They will take care of you like family.

As someone whose life was altered by a workplace injury, I can't speak highly enough of Lyons and Simmons Law Firm. As soon as I called them, their attorneys, Chris and Stephen, showed empathy and dedication to my case. Trying to figure out complex workplace injury law can be unnerving, but Chris and Stephen's expertise put me at ease. They led me through every step of the legal process, making sure that I understood my rights and options. What really makes Lyons and Simmons unique is their commitment to securing the best possible outcome for their clients. They fought tirelessly on my behalf, advocating for the compensation and support I deserved. Their attention to detail and strategic approach resulted in a settlement that surpassed my expectations. Beyond their legal skill, Chris and Stephen are caring individuals who prioritize their clients' well-being. They took the time to listen to my concerns and provided great emotional support throughout the journey. Lyons and Simmons secured the financial compensation I needed to move forward. I am very thankful for their representation and truly recommend their services to anyone in need of legal assistance for workplace injuries.

From the moment I met with Chris and Stephen, I knew I was in good hands. They asked me to be patient and they would take care of things. I felt calm and stepped away. After some time, they called with the update followed by the final result. It was more than I expected. I never had to call for follow ups because they called with periodic updates. I have made some new friends Uptown for sure. I highly recommend the team.

AMAZING WORK!!! Extremely grateful. If you are ready to move on with your life and get your legal stuff taking care of I would and I will recommend, scratch that I highly recommend Taylor Johnson to anyone and everyone I know from this point forward. Taylor kept it real with the whole time and stayed on-top of it and on them. Least I can do is vouch for how hard he worked for me personally, easy he is to communicate with, and how great it turned out despite how grim it may have seemed for me.. Thank you! I am blessed to have met him

Very friendly and efficient!! I've got into a motorcycle accident back in December. A friend recommended Hamilton Wingo to me, and it was the best choice to make to went with them. Sandra and Pricilla had been patient with me, listened to my requests, helped me to follow through my medical needs as well as the claim. Great communication, very clear and responsive. And Judith helped to make the closing process quicker and smoother than I've expected. Highly recommended if you are looking for a Personal Injury Law Firm for your case~

In any professional setting, particularly within the legal and correctional systems, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and courtesy is paramount. Mr. Ashford's behavior, as described, raises significant concerns given the gravity of the situation involving an inmate whose life is at stake. Unprofessional conduct and a lack of courtesy in such critical circumstances not only undermine the integrity of the legal process but also jeopardize the fair treatment and well-being of individuals relying on the system for justice and humane treatment. When dealing with inmates, especially those facing life-threatening situations, it is crucial for all involved parties to exhibit a high degree of empathy, respect, and diligence. The stakes are incredibly high, and even minor lapses in professionalism can have devastating consequences. The behavior of Mr. Ashford, as reported, could lead to mistrust in the system and potentially hinder the inmate's access to fair representation and due process. It is essential for professionals in these roles to uphold ethical standards and ensure that every individual's rights and dignity are preserved. Addressing such issues requires systemic accountability and continuous training for those in positions of authority. The legal and correctional systems must foster environments where respect, professionalism, and humanity are the norms. Ensuring this standard not only benefits the individuals directly involved but also upholds the broader principles of justice and equity that are foundational to a fair society..

Highered a lawyer from this firm to help me through the patent process and make sure I am doing everything the legal and right way. Paid the retainer that was requested, and then nothing. Can't get a call through or an email back for way too many months. This company doesn't seem to care about the common man. Or at least the Lawyer I got didn't. Wasted my time and couldn’t even send in a form to get the driver that hit me insurance information. The form is literally 5 dollars. Instead they had me go to all of these appointments for nothing. I wouldn’t go with this law firm unless you have the other drivers information they give false hope. So if you have a wreck and you only get the license plate call the dmv and fill out this form at least you can see the information for yourself instead of waiting on “lawyers”!

Unfortunately, I have to click on at least one star to be able to post this, and even that is more than undeserved. In short - move on, look elsewhere. These human beings will destroy you mentally and emotionally. There are truly genuine attorneys out there and this law firm IS NOT ONE OF THEM.....Vickers Cunningham thought it was wise to show up to our family member's first hearing having not reviewed the entire case information, having not taking the time to have a conversation with her to get to know her and what he was representing, and filing for a form of relief that he knew (or should of known "being a judge") that she did not qualify for. He waisted precious time and never truly fought for us. Initially, all legal advice was communicated to us through his paralegal, Rose Flores, who never shied away from being unprofessional, unkind, rude, and heartless. We were desperate. Prior to meeting with these people, we had read reviews on them regarding racial controversies and unprofessionalism and we were so vulnerable that we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt - all because Rose said what we wanted to hear, not knowing we were really signing for what would come next - disheartening emotional and mental stress coming from unprofessionalism, being spoken to like we were uneducated, meaningless human beings, being unable to get questions truly and genuinely answered with patience, and being ultimately betrayed. We only thought we knew what the true meaning of an emotional roller coaster was until we dealt with these people, then we really knew. Rose played out every scenario and nothing she said was. She spoke as she knew the ins and outs. The truth is - they never had the knowledge enough to deal with our case. Our family member's case was a very tough one - that we knew. But had they just had the professionalism, the humanity, and the kind hearts to say "this is beyond our expertise", we would have respected them and had searched elsewhere. Many other attorneys told me it was a case they knew they could not deal with. Rose said - "we do this everyday". And then they went into the hearing clueless, unprepared, and applying for a relief she never was going to qualify for - so did they truly do it every day?...I would never wish bad upon these people despite all the hurt they caused our family and all they ripped away from us financially, mentally and emotionally, but I hope that they learn from their mistakes and strive to become better human beings....God wasn't going to let what they put us through be the end of our story - our attorney to follow stepped right in, being God sent. She was extremely knowledgeable, caring, passionate, genuine with a true fighting spirit. Mr Vickers ended his last conversation with my family member in saying there was nothing he could do for her, she would have to hope that she was granted a voluntary departure and when she asked him if "this meant she could never return to her children again", he responded with "If Joe Biden wins...". They had our case for 6 weeks and accomplished nothing but heartaches. Our attorney now had the case 6 weeks and fought and won in 2 different county courts for us, a criminal and an immigration case. Today - we have our family member home and in an even better legal position than she ever was. All this to say - Vickers and Rose destroyed our trust in attorneys, but God sent the right person to fight for us, to win, and to restore our hope and trust. If you do hire these people and they destroy you (I hope it's not the case), don't give up!! Someone out there can and will fight for you!!

Worst experience in my life!! I recently had an extremely unsatisfactory experience with Bergquist Law Firm. After hiring them to handle a legal matter, I found their communication to be lacking and their representation to be subpar. The lawyers seemed disorganized and unprepared, and I felt like my case was not given the attention it deserved. Furthermore, I encountered billing issues and unexpected fees that were not transparently communicated to me. This lack of transparency and professionalism left me feeling frustrated and let down. I would caution anyone considering hiring Bergquist Law Firm to thoroughly research their options and carefully consider whether this firm is the right fit for their legal needs. My experience with them was disappointing and left me questioning the integrity and competence of their legal services. I hope sharing my experience will help others make informed decisions when seeking legal representation. It's crucial to choose a law firm that values professionalism, clear communication, and client satisfaction, and unfortunately, my experience with Bergquist Law Firm fell short in these areas." Please feel free to modify this draft to accurately reflect your own experience and feelings. It can be empowering to use your voice to share your story and potentially prevent others from encountering similar challenges.

I had a car accident in September, 2018. Fears / Nachawati (F/N) was among the Car Wreck attorneys I contacted, they were the 1st to respond. During my case intake, they told me I had a good case. When I moved on to one of their case managers, she gave me all this tough talk about how they were going to make the opposing insurance company pay for my injuries, pain & suffering. They sent me to rehabilitation and x-ray provider under their letter of protection. However, about 3 weeks into my case, they texted me and told me they were dropping my case because the opposing insurance company said they were not going to accept liability for the accident. I immediately found another attorney to take my case. He told me I needed to get a letter of release from Fears. I sat in F/N's lobby for over an hour waiting for the letter. When the case manager finally came out to give me the letter, she said it took so long because she was also working on letters for the other 25 cases F/N was dropping!!!!!! I was very disturbed by hearing that so I went online to look at other F /N reviews. I saw others complaining that F/N had done something very similar to them that they had done to me. It appears to me that F/N scoops up as many cases as they can before another firm can get them. Then they drop he cases that are not clear-cut, easy wins. For cases like mine that gets push-back from the opposing insurance company, F/N drops because they don't want to have to do any work. What's worse is that they have not honored the letters of protection they gave me for services. The 1st time I went to the x-ray provider, I was under F/N's LOP, the 2nd time I went to the same provider, I was literally checking in when F/N texted me to say they were dropping my case and would not pay for that day's service, so I had to use my own medical insurance. The x-ray provider owes me a $75 refund that they refuse to return to me until I pay the $600+ bill that was supposed to be covered by F/N. I have emailed them demanding that they honor their agreement to cover my medical services, but they have ignored it. F/N's approach cut the risk for them but left me the car wreck victim holding the financial bag...… they send you to the providers they work with, tell you they will pay, but if they decide to drop the case they walk away with no care for you what happens to you or your situation. I think that F/N's support staff is horrendous, they are rude, conduct themselves unprofessionally in person and appear to be very disorganized and confused. Communicating with them, especially in person was an exercise in sheer frustration. I think F/N needs to be reported to the Bar Association, and that is probably what I am going to do! Shame on you F/N!!!!!!!!! My new attorney runs circles around F/N. Dallas, Texas

I've had the pleasure of working with Majed Nachawati on numerous cases for over five years. He remains my go to attorney for mass tort/bad drug cases. He knows the law, knows the science, and works tirelessly for his injured clients. Mass tort cases are not easy. It is important to hire an attorney with the experience and knowledge necessary to take on large pharmaceutical companies. Majed is that attorney. That is why he is the first call I make when a potential mass tort case crosses my desk.

My family and I were in desperate shape and close to losing our family home after a multi year fight with the mortgage company. I reached out to Walker and he took the time to explain all of my options and was patient throughout the process. The process was another multi year fight with Walker keeping me informed throughout the entire time. At the end of the day he won this fight for me and my family. We were able to settle for a reasonable amount which was about 60% of what the mortgage company was asking for. My credit was cleared of the foreclosure which allowed me to refinance with another bank. His strategy and demeanor ultimately was the determining factor in winning this case. The mortgage fought the entire way but eventually gave in. I couldn't have dreamed of a better outcome. I appreciate Walker's patience throughout the process and his detailed and consistent updates. I would recommend his firm to anyone that needs help.

One of the pet peeves of dealing with law firms so far, is the gate keepers, when they say no "not willing to take your case", especially after saying that and if I request to speak with a manager of the firm and they still say 'No' as if they own the firm. In any case the lady conversed with just did not bother forward my inquiry to an attorney, because it was an EEOC case. Regardless what type of the case it is, law firm should still give an opportunity for an employee to tell their story, especially if they will provide circumstantial evidence and when it comes to EEOC process. Especially if the employee had already done majority of the paperwork and all the firm needs to do is provide assistance for the rest of the way. If they do not have experienced attorneys for EEOC cases, well that's a whole different story. Regardless, they lost another business.

When we were searching for a lawyer, we felt that God led us to this firm. My husband had a business depute with a corrupt partner who was a bully, a liar, and a thief. We initially filed a lawsuit in 2020, at the height of COVID. We had a very good lawyer to help us through the case for the last 3 years but he unfortunately passed away this earlier this year. We needed to have someone else represent us, and we chose another lawyer firm (not this one). That lawyer from the other firm dropped our case because we didn’t agreed to have second mediation, even though we thoroughly explained to him we knew it was a waste our money, since the first mediation was very unsuccessful. Again in search of a new lawyer, God led us to the Godwin & Bowmen firm; the name Godwin itself was a very favorable sign for us. After we researched about Mr Ira Bowman we decide to have him & his partner (Ms Samantha Baynes) to help us with the case that was ongoing for over 3 years. Within 4 months we got the court day & my husband won the case - Praise God! I give thanks to Mr Ira for his knowledge, wisdom, boldness, friendliness & humility. The second lawyer that we had that dropped us was really prideful. In addition, I give many thanks to Ms Samantha Baynes (his partner) who is very thorough and detailed; she spent a lot of time to collect the data for the past 4 years, including the info from the two previous lawyers. I am very thankful for Mr Ira & Ms Samantha trust in us & helping us go through this trial. Many thanks to Godwin & Bowman firm for your legal assistance. I highly recommend this firm to anyone seeking for a trial legislation attorney. Mr Ira Bowman is the best lawyers who can fight for you. Thank you Jesus & thank you Godwin Bowman firm.

Mr Fortenberry and his team were amazing to work with. A drunk driver hit me and left the scene and her insurance was refusing to pay. Zeke got her insurance and mine to pay. They kept me updated every step of the way. He took my case when others would not! Best experience I have had

My case was referred from the law office of Jacobs O'Hara McMullen regarding two non at faults accident to cut down on legal fees from Houston, TX. Since my case has been referred to Zeke I have not spoke to Zeke not once over the telephone. I only recieve replies after weeks by emails only. I can't and have not recieved one update regarding my case and I never get the phone call that was promised via email. I have recieved nothing but empty promises and the run around time and time again after months of requesting any info or transparency. I do not have much experiences with lawyers and thank God my life hasn't required me to till now, but assure you I am glad I now know how they can be and what a terrible one now look like. After having your life derailed the last thing you want to have to add to pain and suffering is having your lawyer be a pain and aid in more suffering. Sure he might have helped others but I wasn't.

Being able to have such an experienced lawyer such as Zeke was one of the many reasons I am glad I hired this firm to represent my case. From the beginning he was always attentive with any questions I had and always kept me informed of the process step by step. His knowledge and worth ethic was very evident and that made me feel comfortable. I would not hesitate to use Zeek and his team if the need arises nor hesitate to recommend this firm to friends and family. The professionalism they showed and the outcome was nothing short of Amazing.

I DO NOT recommend this law firm. In September of 2023 I was referred to this firm after having a serious 4 car MVA. Without any notice they gave my case to another law firm I DO NOT recommend. After I shared my concerns about the firm “they” gave my case to I was told I probably need to go to there office to get someone to actually communicate with me referring my injury claim. There’s so much more I could say but none the less it’s a NO, Never again for me.

Would give negative stars if possible. Worst representation, lack of communication. Switched my file over to another law firm two years after my accident without talking to me first or getting my consent. New law firm called to inform of new representation after they switched my file over.

What a Wrongful Death Lawyer Can Do for You

A wrongful death lawyer specializes in representing families who have lost a loved one due to the negligent, reckless, or intentional actions of another person or entity. These lawyers help families seek compensation for the emotional and financial losses associated with the untimely death of a loved one, including medical bills, funeral expenses, lost income, loss of companionship, and pain and suffering. Wrongful death claims can arise from various situations, including car accidents, medical malpractice, workplace accidents, and criminal actions.

If you have lost a family member due to someone else’s wrongful actions, a wrongful death lawyer can help you navigate the legal process and pursue justice on behalf of your loved one.

When Should I Hire a Wrongful Death Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a wrongful death lawyer if a loved one has died as a result of someone else’s negligence, recklessness, or intentional harm. Some common reasons to hire a wrongful death lawyer include:

  • Car accidents: If a loved one was killed in a car, truck, or motorcycle accident caused by another driver’s negligence (e.g., reckless driving, DUI, or distracted driving), a lawyer can help you file a wrongful death claim.
  • Medical malpractice: If a loved one died due to medical negligence, such as a misdiagnosis, surgical error, or medication mistake, a wrongful death lawyer can help you pursue compensation from the healthcare provider.
  • Workplace accidents: If your loved one died in a workplace accident or due to unsafe working conditions, you may be entitled to compensation from the employer or third parties responsible for the unsafe conditions.
  • Defective products: If a defective product caused your loved one’s death, a lawyer can help you file a wrongful death claim against the manufacturer or distributor of the product.
  • Criminal actions: If your loved one was the victim of a criminal act, such as homicide or assault, a wrongful death lawyer can help you pursue a civil claim for damages, even if a criminal case is also ongoing.
  • Nursing home negligence: If an elderly loved one died due to neglect or abuse in a nursing home, a lawyer can help you hold the facility accountable for their wrongful actions.

Hiring a wrongful death lawyer soon after the incident ensures that important evidence is preserved and that you can meet any legal deadlines for filing a claim.

What Does a Wrongful Death Lawyer Do?

A wrongful death lawyer provides a wide range of services to help families navigate the legal complexities of a wrongful death claim and seek compensation for their losses. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the death: Conducting a thorough investigation of the circumstances leading to your loved one’s death, gathering evidence such as medical records, accident reports, and witness statements.
  • Establishing liability: Identifying who is legally responsible for your loved one’s death, whether it’s an individual, company, or government entity, and building a case showing how their negligence or wrongful actions caused the death.
  • Calculating damages: Helping you determine the full extent of your financial and emotional losses, including funeral expenses, medical bills, lost income, loss of companionship, and pain and suffering.
  • Filing a wrongful death claim: Preparing and filing the necessary legal documents to initiate a wrongful death lawsuit within the statute of limitations in your state.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with the responsible party’s insurance company or legal team to negotiate a fair settlement for your losses.
  • Representing you in court: If a settlement cannot be reached, representing you in court by presenting evidence and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Handling legal deadlines: Ensuring that all legal filings are completed within the deadlines set by your state’s statute of limitations for wrongful death cases.

How Are Wrongful Death Lawyers Paid?

Wrongful death lawyers typically work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. Here’s how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer’s fee is usually a percentage of the total settlement or damages awarded, typically ranging from 25% to 40%. You won’t have to pay any upfront fees, and the lawyer only gets paid if they successfully recover compensation for you.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer does not win or settle your case, you generally won’t owe them any legal fees.
  • Case expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, you may also be responsible for reimbursing the lawyer for case-related expenses, such as court costs, expert witness fees, and investigation costs. These expenses are typically deducted from the settlement or award.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to ensure you understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Wrongful Death Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a wrongful death lawyer is usually based on a contingency fee structure, meaning you only pay if the lawyer recovers compensation for you. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee percentage: Most wrongful death lawyers charge between 25% and 40% of the total settlement or court award. For example, if you receive a $500,000 settlement and the lawyer’s fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $165,000, and you would keep the remaining $335,000.
  • Case expenses: In addition to the lawyer’s fee, expenses such as court costs, expert witness fees, and investigation costs may be deducted from the settlement or award. These expenses can range from $5,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case.

Make sure to ask your lawyer for a clear explanation of their fees and case-related expenses before proceeding with your wrongful death claim.

Top Questions to Ask a Wrongful Death Lawyer

Before hiring a wrongful death lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and resources to handle your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with wrongful death cases?
Ensure the lawyer has successfully handled cases similar to yours, whether it’s medical malpractice, car accidents, or workplace deaths.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the lawyer’s contingency fee percentage and any additional costs, such as case expenses, that you may be responsible for.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and any potential challenges that could affect the outcome.
  4. How long will the process take?
Wrongful death cases can take time to resolve, so ask how long the lawyer expects the process to last, from filing the claim to reaching a settlement or going to trial.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case and representing you in court.
  6. What types of damages can I recover?
Ask the lawyer to explain the types of compensation you may be entitled to, such as medical bills, funeral expenses, loss of income, and emotional suffering.

How to Check the Credibility of a Wrongful Death Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable wrongful death lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for wrongful death experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in wrongful death cases and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on wrongful death cases.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) or local bar associations can indicate the lawyer’s dedication to wrongful death and personal injury law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a wrongful death lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Death certificate: Bring a copy of your loved one’s death certificate, as this is a key document in wrongful death cases.
  • Medical records: If applicable, bring your loved one’s medical records, autopsy reports, or any documentation of their medical care leading up to their death.
  • Accident or incident reports: If the wrongful death resulted from an accident, bring any police reports, accident reports, or workplace incident reports.
  • Financial records: Provide documentation of your loved one’s income, benefits, and financial contributions to the family to help calculate economic damages.
  • Correspondence: Bring any communication you’ve had with the responsible party, their insurance company, or legal representatives.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions for the lawyer about the legal process, potential outcomes, and fees.
  • Timeline of events: Be ready to provide a clear timeline of the events leading up to and following your loved one’s death.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice.
