Mark saved my son from wrongful detention with Baker Act and got him released quickly, and we are so very thankful and relieved. Mark Astor was prompt and professional, receiving my phone call on a Sunday afternoon and taking action immediately. He was able to file the necessary petitions, even as my wrongfully detained loved one was transferred in the middle of the night to another county. He was always one step ahead of the system and procured a revocation of the Baker Act within 48 hours. His communication was excellent during a time of great stress for my loved one and our family and friends. Boy were my eyes opened to the horrible abuse of the Baker Act by so many crooked and corrupt institutions in this state and the false imprisonment that they impose on countless victims in order to profit from their insurance benefits, often offering little to no treatment or benefit in return. My husband was one such victim. I called Mark just before noon after I was told that my husband wasn't going anywhere even though his 72 hours were almost over. Mark explained to me what was really going on. Hard to believe at first, but so, so true. He immediately and professionally took control of the situation and made so many things happen so fast while keeping me totally informed at every step. In the meantime, the facility tricked my husband into signing papers that he was told were release papers, but were, in fact, giving them permission to keep him indefinitely. But Mark was one step ahead of them and was able to revoke that voluntary consent as part of the petition he filed for my husband's release, which was filed electronically to the courthouse by 6 pm with a copy being FAXED to the facility. At 7:59 the next morning the release process was started and I picked him up at 10:30. Mark's experience and knowledge and genuine concern saved my husband from a devastating fate and allowed us to get real treatment that he needed from real professionals of our choosing. I believe he's best in the state at what he does. If you become a victim of this abuse, call him as soon as possible. He's the best chance you've got!

Our family reached out to Mark July 5, 2024 as a family member had been admitted to a mental health facility under the Baker Act without our fully informed by the hospital. Upon learning this, we researched the Baker Act and realized the first 72 hours were critical to have someone discharged. During this holiday weekend, we contacted Mark on July 6th, explained our situation, he offered his services for our case, detailed exactly what had to happen when and devoted his time to our situation to submit documents to begin the discharge process. Our family member was discharged on July 8, 2024. This would not have happened without his expertise. Our family member was revaluated on July 9th and determined the symptoms were not related to mental health nor met the classification for the Baker Act. We cannot express how truly grateful we are to Mark and highly recommend his services.
