Before I met Nadia, I filed my divorce with an other attorney who actually got me in more trouble and gave me a lot more headaches than what's normal. That attorney was too much! I was losing my mind and my hopes to be honest. But then I did my research and found Nadia Pazos and her awesome team. So I did the switch (a little bit scared). But I am so happy I DID! They got me through this bumpy process as smoothly as possible. No more trouble and no more headaches. It felt like they took it personal, which is a great feeling. I will be for ever thankful!! and I told them, I will be back if I ever need an attorney again, not for divorce tho, I’m not getting into that again LOL.

I had few questions dealing with a uncontested divorce. Needed a few answers for my own peace of mind. Nadia went above and beyond in our 15 minute consultation. Her advice was well worth the $39. Her knowledge, confidence and personality eased my worries. She's restored my faith in lawyers :)

Where do I even begin? This is going to be a pretty long review, as there's so much good to say about this amazing attorney, Nadia Pazos. However, if all you'll end up reading is only this first paragraph, then know this - Nadia truly cares, and Nadia is an extremely knowledgeable, and experienced family law attorney, who will fight tooth-and-nail to get her clients the best possible outcome! A little background - I am a very analytical individual, who likes to always be prepared. So, naturally I spent many hours compiling a list of who I thought would be the best attorney to help me with my case. I read as many attorneys’ profiles and reviews, as I could find. Finally, I was down to a list of about 20…then 10…and then 5. Nadia’s online presence (profiles, ratings, reviews, website, etc.) was near perfection. However, I still wanted to meet my top 5 attorneys in person, before I made my final decision of which one to hire. I purposely met Nadia last, and when I explained to her that she is not the only attorney I'm having a consultation with, her response was simply, "I think you'll quickly notice that we are a little different than most." Having met with each of the 5 attorneys, Nadia’s statement couldn’t be any more accurate. The difference was clear - instead of looking at an individual and seeing only a potential new client and billable hours, Nadia looks at an individual and sees a person in need of help, an individual who is about to embark on what likely will be one of the most difficult journeys of their life. The entire divorce process was very smooth, with Nadia and the rest of her team keeping me updated on the status of each and every step along the way. Whenever I had questions (and I had lots, and lots of questions), I would always receive a very quick, detailed response. My one and only area of concern was that she might be a little too nice, and that she will not be “aggressive” enough during the case. However, when it came to standing her ground and being tough, Nadia did exactly that! The main difference was - she did it with reason, respect, confidence and a smile on her face! I will never forget a moment at mediation, when the ex-spouse and the opposing attorney, were on the verge of yelling across the table, with the hopes of us giving-in to one of their requests. Nadia proceeded to slowly, calmly, but very firmly explain to the opposition why their request was not going to be granted. Nadia provided her supporting evidence to prove her stance, and she did it all while keeping a smile for most of the time. What a class act! Pure professionalism! The privilege of having Nadia in my corner, during what turned out to be the most difficult time of my life, was life-changing! I can’t even imagine what would have happened, had I not had such a good, caring attorney by my side! Having gone through my divorce case, I can now say with complete honesty, that hiring the right attorney will be the single most important decision of your family law case. Nadia Pazos IS that “right attorney”! Nadia, your passion for family law, and your passion for helping people during some of their toughest times, is nothing short of inspiring! When I first asked you about how difficult it must be for you to have to deal with so much negativity, since most divorce cases won't exactly be pleasant, you gave me a very simple answer, "I don't focus on the process, but rather on the happy, fresh start that we are able to help our clients reach. I love what I do!” I now know what you meant by that. You were referring to moments precisely such as this one - a moment when I can think back at my divorce case, and feel only pure gratitude! Pure gratitude for having you in my corner, guiding me to “the light at the end of the tunnel”. You are a true inspiration to the family law community, and I am honoured to be able to say that I was represented by Nadia Pazos! Thank You, Nadia!!! I will forever be grateful!!!

Vincent Miller is a highly competent lawyer who was able to get to the bottom of the case very quickly and put my opposition in a position of needing to settle instead of going to court the monies they owed me. His fee was reasonable and I was very glad Vincent was in my corner. He is also very personable and easy to work with.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Delray Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
