My name is Lawrence Yawee Sanchez and I am the prime example for how Student loan debt can destroy my life! My Loans were in default and they were going to garnish my check; I had no idea what to do. In the Fall of 2014, I thought my student loans were paid off, in full, and applied for graduate school. After being accepted, i received an email that said " According to the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), you have 7 defaulted Federal student loans with Debt Management and Collections System as of 11/14/1996. As of now, you are not eligible to utilize Federal financial aid." I was sure that this was a mistake because I had received a message from the payroll department of my employer that I had paid the full amount, per the wage garnishment in June/July of the same year. I called to dispute the claims and followed the steps that were suggested on the government site but instead of my case being closed and reported as "paid in full", I was skillfully persuaded to put my loans into consolidation for what I thought would only be six months, then I would be able to qualify for student loans to attend graduate school. Well, after paying the $5.00 for six months, after I had already paid in excess of nearly $40,000.00 for loans that never should have been defaulted in the first place (I was still a student), I decided that it was time to find an attorney. I had no idea what it would cost and was told time and time again that attorneys will not take on the federal government student loans but after nearly 30 years of payments on the same loans...and feeling as if no matter what I do, I will be paying for these loans until the day I die, I found Van Horn Law Group online. The day I went into the office, I had no job (I had resigned one job to go to grad school and then the next job went into receivership a month after I started), and I was extremely depressed and it was all I could do to get dressed that morning to show up for the appointment. After meeting with Christopher Pabon, I immediately started to receive the relief that i needed to get through the process of not only having my FAFSA corrected, but I am now paying ZERO dollars per month. Christopher has been extremely patient with me, even when I wrote or called him very distressed, and has diligently and faithfully done more to help me than any other person that I have contacted or sought assistance from in the past 20+ years. If you are like me, and you have not been able to qualify for a loan deferment or are in default, erroneously or not, I highly recommend that you call Van Horn Law Group. My experience was great. It took me a few months to get everything taken care of and the staff kept in touch with me to make sure things were coming along ok. and they were always available for questions. When I first went to the office I met with Chad himself and that goes a long way.
