I contacted Mr. Darren Heitner after a client of mine received a notice from a company named Pixsy threatening a lawsuit and large payment by a specific date. The notification claimed that my client violated the law by using an unauthorized image and asking for a large sum of money as a result. Soon after retaining Mr. Heitner, he determined there was no copyright registration, which meant they could not sue. The client was relieved and very satisfied with the outcome. A few years back, one of our interns had posted a blog article on our website with an image that we did not have rights to. Unfortunately, we didn't catch this at the time.
