I was in a custody/divorce case in 2013/2014 and Susan was my savior during that time. She got back to me in a timely manner when I had questions or information to give her. I was involved in a case involving a newborn baby and false allegations and after a year of little or no contact with my daughter I am now a thriving father of a beautiful little girl and spend half of my time with her. I am a man and for this to have happened after reading nightmare after nightmare of similar cases I am sure that Susan was a vital tool in bring the truth out strategically throughout the process. If you find yourself going through a similar situation in the Fort Myers area I would highly recommend you call Susan and explain to her your situation

After 5 years, 5 attorneys and 25k latter i was blessed to find Mrs. Susan Lorene Ray to take over those useless attorneys that took their time just to profit from my situation and probably never even looked at my file. What all the others attorneys couldn't do in 5 years Susan did in such a little time with excellent results. She is passionate in what she does and treats everyone on her side with so much respect and care ,On the other hand she is very aggressive protecting your interest, Just what i was looking for. When compared to the other 5 attorneys they were not even close to her expertise. when i was at a hearing I had the other attorney tried to intimidate me but Susan came to my rescue and put him in his place, She intimidate me and i was on her side, That was awesome. Anyways don't waste you time around like i did and go straight to the best, trust me you will save money and get the results you deserve. Thanks Susan.

I am a former client. I do not recommend this attorney. She failed to make proper call backs. Did not file proper paperwork and failed to file counter petition. Failed to file my financial disclosures and quit during mediation but sent me an invoice for her services.. Does not have a legal aid or a proper office. I hired an attorney who did not do her job.. Came to mediation without knowing the information on my case and with paperwork on another case... Very dipsy and doesnt stay on task.. The mediator told me to hire another attorney.

Susan helped my sister and niece regain custody of my niece's children. She went well beyond the amount that was paid to her, she was caring and the outcome that she got was amazing. She is very professional and I would not hesitate to recommend her or use her again.

John is an expert in wealth transfer planning and the use of sophisticated life insurance strategies. While working directly with several life insurance companies, my legal counsel made inquiries as to Attorney Iannucci's experience and expertise. Every company had the same opinion of John and I concur. He was detailed oriented, explained every facet of the proposed plan and answered our questions honestly and openly.

If I could give Robert Foley and Desiree Wilson 10 stars I would do so gladly. I had a situation that required their expertise and from the very beginning I was very impressed. Robert and Desiree asked me to come in person and took the time to explain the entire process from beginning to end. The initial meeting was well over an hour. I'll never forget that. Most attorneys wouldn't go out of their way like that. I had the benefit of having 2 outstanding lawyers for the price of one. Thanks to Robert and Desiree my case was dismissed and I was able to start to get my life back together. To say that I highly recommend them is a under statement. If ever in the future I should need their expertise I would retain them both in a heartbeat.

Very much the professional, Attorney Cruz, put me at ease the moment I walked into his office. As most people feel when they turn to an attorney to perform a task that we cannot do ourselves, I was completely defeated and had no idea of the types of documentation needed. Step by step, he led me through a rather difficult task and gave me the confidence I needed to complete all of the paperwork. He stayed "connected" and in less than 3 weeks the entire process was completed. In spite of the complete professional approach, I know he is a compassionate individual who intended to provide me with peace of mind. He listens!

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Myers, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
