be cautious with the upfront fee, that they charge. I ended up getting what likely amounted to 2 hours worth of advice for $3000 dollars non-refundable, when my wife and I opted not to pursue a divorce. I get it, I signed the form but most businesses you come across make some effort to do right by people, and sadly that wasn't the case here

I am beginning my review in a different way. I think it is really important to note that 1 out of 10 people who are happy with services leave a positive review. Just 1 out of 10. That really represents that there are potentially 9 really satisfied people who just were so pleased that they went on in their happy life. I also think it is really important that when people look at reviews, any kind even including the big online delivery service reviews, that we understand we are reading only the perspective of the reviewer. When the service of legal counsel or representation is sought-after, it is usually involving difficult, even contentious issues. We think about attorneys and the results they bring, but we hardly ever know the extreme difficulty each detail in their representation of situations demand. On initial consultation, counsel will listen to the issues at hand, and give the best guidance forward. However, when they discover layers and layers to the complexity of the issue, that may not have been disclosed to them, they still give the best representation they can. Betsy was definitely not worth the money I spent. On top of what she charged me, she cost me thousands in unpaid alimony due to numerous errors in filing my ex-husband’s garnishment paperwork (more details below). When quoting a fee, she understandably estimated that my case would go to trial, however during mediation after strongly advising that I settle because suddenly she didn’t think the case was strong enough, there was never a reimbursement for the difference. She was somewhat responsive via email, but not responsive enough for the amount of money I spent. For example, I had emailed her several times to inform her of some significant financial changes mid case and to ask some important questions. She never replied, but then “reprimanded me” during mediation for not updating her on the said changes. Additionally, I had an alimony case and my ex was in contempt by not paying during the case. My divorce court agreement stated that I could garnish if he was 2 weeks late, however over the course of MONTHS, she and her assistant repeatedly misfiled and the withholding order got kicked back from the military numerous times. I personally made all of the calls to determine the right way to do it, passed that along several times and they still kept messing it up. I was then told by her assistant in a snarky way that they shouldn’t even be doing that since I hadn’t paid for it, but I promptly reminded her that when asked, Betsy never mentioned an additional fee to file the paperwork (it was only mentioned when I complained months later that they kept screwing it up) and that I wouldn’t have reason to believe there would be a charge to file a piece of paper for alimony during an alimony case I was already paying her for! There were 7 months of zero court ordered payments received and they didn’t get it right until 1 month before mediation. I missed out on 6 months of payments, all while still making my payments to her only to be repeatedly blown off about it. There were other issues, but those are the main ones. Overall, I would not recommend. I never truly felt like she was fighting for me. I fully expect a generic response from their firm in which I won’t be able to reply to, but these are the simple facts and regardless of what is said to salvage the reputation, you’ve been warned.
