In October 2020, I was searching for an attorney to process my amicable divorce. I had phone interviewed two other attorneys, but neither were a good fit for me. As I continued to search, I thankfully located Diana Sulea. Her reviews were phenomenal and everything that I was looking for to assist me with this life event. When we spoke for the first time, she was true to every review and I felt her professionalism, knowledge base, kindness, and compassion. Diana explained the process and reviewed every aspect of my case. She explained what was achievable for me (multiple times), but RESPECTED my atypical decisions. Not once did I feel pressured or coerced in my decision making. Diana created a calm environment for a difficult time in my life.

Diana is an excellent attorney, who I admire greatly. She genuinely cared about me and my case. She monitored my case very closely, to see what was at stake and what the opposing party was doing. She looked at every aspect of the issues of my case and advised me accordingly. With an astute eye for important details, she does not lose sight of the big issues at stake either. Diana is definitely someone you want on your team when you go through a difficult legal process. She is trustworthy and very well versed in family law and estate planning.

Diana was quick to respond and follow up on our questions with answers during this Pandemic (and how to protect our family) that I could actually understand then be able to decide which Estate Plan level was right for our family. The whole process of creating a Trust and an Asset and Legacy Protection Plan for our kids can be overwhelming, but Diana and her team made me feel comfortable and confident that I was in good hands and was making intelligent decisions for my family. Thank you again Diana.

I highly recommend Evan Kleiman for representation in a criminal case. He is courteous, efficient, professional and makes communication throughout the whole process very easy. He took the time to go over all my concerns literally any time I called. I felt immediately like I was a V.I.P. Most importantly, however, is the result and what it came to that I couldn't have been happier. He was able to ger my charges dismissed prior to the arraignment. He is diligent, professional and highly effective

To say that Aaron Kesselman is a good lawyer would be a gross understatement. Aaron assisted us in the sale of our home. From first contact to the final documents, we found Aaron to be diligent, thorough, and extremely responsive. Aron very much went above and beyond, from finding small inconsistencies in documents to reminders of dates and times. This was the fourth house we have sold, so we are familiar with the process, given that,: I would rate Aaron as exceptional. I would highly recommend Aaron and hope to have the opportunity to work with him again in the future.

My son had a problem where he could have been facing serious time in jail. Mr. Salzman told us that he would do his best to make sure that did not occur. Throughout the process he worked hard to make sure he defended my son. Researching common law and working within the system to get the best result. His hard work and diligence allowed my son to have a favorable outcome.

Richard Salzman is an excellent criminal lawyer in every way! He is kind and easy to talk to. He listens to you and makes you feel like everything is going to be fine. He is so confident, you leave his office feeling calm and reassured. He is easy to reach and always returns calls and he made me feel like I am his most important client! In court, Richard is the ultimate professional. He met me early and put my mind at ease right away. He explained everything and guided me through the process. Richard was prepared, focused and walked into the courtroom full of confidence and energy. He spoke to the Prosecutor and Judge for me and I hardly said a word. It was amazing how everyone treated Richard with so much respect and friendliness. And the BEST thing was, Richard was able to get me a great plea deal where I get my case DISMISSED in 3 months! Richard made a very frightening situation for me a simple “walk in the park” – Thank you Richard!!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hollywood, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
