Matthew J. Militzok and his team represented my parents in a complex lawsuit that stretched over seven years, enduring courthouse shutdowns during COVID and constant opposition from the condominium association and its insurance company. The case was considered "unwinnable" by many. Despite this, Militzok's dedication, thorough research, and exceptional professionalism led to a victory beyond our expectations. Our issue began with severe leaks and mold infiltrating my parents' apartment, rendering it unlivable. Although we won an earlier lawsuit with another attorney, the condo failed to make repairs, and the problem worsened. The condominium argued they were no longer liable, but Militzok and Associates took on the case and navigated every dirty trick thrown at us by a team of defense lawyers trying to have the case dismissed. Thanks to Militzok's unyielding commitment and legal talent, we won a six-figure compensation that covered damages and legal fees. The condominium was finally held accountable and has since replaced the roof and fully restored the apartment from the ground up. Matthew J. Militzok and his team genuinely care about their clients and demonstrate an unmatched level of expertise and dedication. They fought hard for us and achieved what many thought was impossible. We are grateful beyond words and highly recommend them to anyone in need of an outstanding legal team.

For years I was fighting the HOA in my condo rental unit that was uninhabitable due to water emanating from upstairs. I hired a forensic building inspector, Mr. Jeff Hooper who wrote a comprehensive report that indicated the building problems. Yes, it did take years to resolve because it is a process that the HOA and insurance companies delay intentionally while denying there was a problem. When the defense attorneys inspected my condo unit Mr. Militzok was there to observe the process. Mr. Militzok won a sizable settlement which shocked me. I provided detailed communication with everybody involved that included face-to-face meetings, emails, telephone calls and pictures over time. The plaintiff must do their part as He said/she said does not stand up in court. Supporting documentation wins the case along with a knowledgeable attorney like Mr. Matthew Militzok. I provided the documentation and Mr. Militzok went to work. There was no need to constantly call Mr. Militzok and bug him as all comes together in due time. Most litigants call the attorney constantly wanting to know what's happening, this can be annoying for attorneys. This is the first time I sued an entity, but I knew annoying the attorney constantly is not the way to go. When any attorney has information, the attorney will contact the client with an update. I feel we worked well together. Yes, it did take a couple of years, but Mr. Militzok got the job done, well done. Litigants must have patience. The few times I spoke with Mr. Militzok he was available and ready to listen. I could not have asked for a better attorney! Thank you, Mr. Militzok and your associates/team.

Do not hire this lawyer, he is the worst I have ever seen. With all mold specialists reports that cost me thousands $ and doctors’reports of our illness, all required by Militzok, who started our case at requesting $300,000 in damages for us, ended up having our case dismissed after 7 years. The other party said they had paid a lot of money already, we still wonder to whom??? We never received anything. He is just a super disappointment all together and he thinks people are stupid and don’t see what happened. We know very well what happened. He had the case dismissed on getting back rent money, which was not the main request, the main request was for health damages and renting an unhealthy house with a mold rotting floor and a septic tank leaking under the house. No wonder why we were sick. The house had full of coliforms and mold under the floor and Matthew had all the specialists and City reports in his hands. He couldn’t win our case??? No , He did us no good and he is no good.

Pros
1
Highly efficient and effective in resolving legal issues, such as debt collection and mold/water damage cases
“Matthew was great! He got rid of it FAST and easy. He is very efficient and honest. Highly recommended.”
2
Knowledgeable and experienced in handling complex mold and water damage cases
“After my initial research and personal experience, I can conclude that Militzok & Associates, The Mold Lawyers, is the only law firm in Broward County, and probably in the whole state of Florida that is knowledgeable about mold exposure and clearly explains it on their website.”
3
Provides excellent legal advice and professional representation
“Matthew Militzok and his associates provided me with an excellent outcome for severe mold and water damage of my condominium from a neighbor upstairs. Not only did they have to fight the neighbor on my behalf, but also my condominium association. They worked as an excellent team by providing me with hard work, excellent legal advice, and professionalism.”
Cons
1
Poor communication and responsiveness from the law firm's staff
“Communication was extremely hard. I tried calling the office but my messages were never returned. The property manager came to my apartment to inspect a leak and told ne that he did not receive any information from my lawyer.”
2
Lack of follow-through and delayed resolution of cases
“I had sent many e mails to be forward to the association and it was never sent. Recently, after five months, I was able to get a hold of Emily and stated my concern. The lawyer was scheduled to talk to me by Emily. Instead, just sent me a letter dropping my case. 5 months of my time completely wasted.”

I highly recommend Evan Kleiman for representation in a criminal case. He is courteous, efficient, professional and makes communication throughout the whole process very easy. He took the time to go over all my concerns literally any time I called. I felt immediately like I was a V.I.P. Most importantly, however, is the result and what it came to that I couldn't have been happier. He was able to ger my charges dismissed prior to the arraignment. He is diligent, professional and highly effective

To say that Aaron Kesselman is a good lawyer would be a gross understatement. Aaron assisted us in the sale of our home. From first contact to the final documents, we found Aaron to be diligent, thorough, and extremely responsive. Aron very much went above and beyond, from finding small inconsistencies in documents to reminders of dates and times. This was the fourth house we have sold, so we are familiar with the process, given that,: I would rate Aaron as exceptional. I would highly recommend Aaron and hope to have the opportunity to work with him again in the future.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hollywood, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
