My firm specializes in business brokerage and we often need to recommend an attorney to represent a business seller or a business buyer in a transaction. We have referred Steven Moore in many of our deals because he is a " get the deal done and get it done correctly" attorney. Our clients really like the service he provides and look at it as value added from us. In addition he has served as corporate council for our firm since our inception in 1994 when I was a sole practitioner and continues in that role as we have grown to a franchise system of over 150 Offices throughout North America. Attorney Moore represents us on any litigation or contractual matters that arise in our business.

Steve Moore has been my Florida corporate and real estate attorney for many years. I have closed the majority of my real estate transactions with his title company smoothly and in a timely manner. In addition, over the years, I have referred many of my business associates to him as new clients. As a result, all of us have been very satisfied with Steve's consistent professional performance. Thank you Steve.

Fifteen years ago I was referred to the attorney Steven Moore by an associate of mine. Securing his services is one of the best decisions I have ever made. He has represented me and my corporation on various legal affairs such as Incorporation, Financial & taxation, Construction law, Real Estate & Title work, Strategic Planning and adoption, to name a few. My wife and I have also used his services for personal estate planning to protect our family. Steve’s breadth of knowledge and representation has always been professional, unquestionable, and timely. I have recommended Steve’s legal counsel to many of my colleagues and friends in the past and all have been more than satisfied.

I am a financial advisor serving seniors and I refer all of my clients to Steve for their estate planning needs. In the 6 years we have worked together I have never received a single complaint from one of my clients. In fact, everyone praises his legal knowledge, honesty and ability to explain complicated legal scenarios in plain English. Furthermore, Steve handled my personal estate planning needs. I highly recommend Steve!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ms Schechter six weeks ago, and I cannot stress enough about how much of a professional she is. Knowledgeable, courteous and extremely efficient. She was always polite and attentive and handled my case faster then I thought possible. I will recommend her to family, friends and colleagues and I encourage you, if you are interviewing for representation, she give her an opportunity to show you how well she can work for you

Audrey helped my husband and I with a tree that fell on my neighbors house after Hurricane Irma and caused them some roof damage. The neighbor was trying to bully us into filing a claim under my homeowners insurance, which is against FL law. The situation had me very worried. I retained Audrey as soon as the situation escalated. Audrey handled the situation immediately by sending a certified letter to the homeowner which stated all of FL laws and the facts of the case. She is firm, diligent and confident. She has kept me at ease every step of the way and continues to make herself available when I have questions. Audrey will be my first call in any legal case I may find myself in the future!

Tim is one of the best attorneys EVER . His fees for one are in line and he’s more than willing to work with you. As far as not knowing what he’s doing is laughable. I’ve dealt with several attorneys already and Tim by far is the best! I’m fighting for custody for my daughter and Tim is fighting for her as if its his own child. His tenacity, knowledge of the law and preparedness is incredible. When in court Tim’s courtroom demeanor and honest approach helps to ease my fear knowing he is truly looking out for only the best interest of my daughter . I don’t know where I’d be without him. I can’t thank him enough for his willingness to go the extra mile for my daughter and see her safe from harm. I would recommend Tim in a second. George Oldsmar Florida.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Largo, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
