What makes an advocate great is when they can understand the needs and wishes of their client, take it on as their own, and fight for it like a warrior in the battle field of Justice. This defines attorney Spencer Morgan. I had an accident that occurred with a major company and the circumstances of the case made it one of those situations where the odds would not be in my favor. I came in to see my chiropractor because I was in so much pain that I started to have spasms in my neck and back. I was visibly upset and filled with stress. I mentioned to my doctor that my previous attorney dropped my case and gave me a reference and that I was not comfortable with. I told him that I don’t know what to do and how I would make my medical bill payments. My bills were staggeringly high and with all the pain I was in, I was looking at more treatment which included MRI’s and possible surgery. I felt helpless and afraid. I could not go up against this company alone and the amount that was being offered to me initially was going to leave me in a sea of debt. My chiropractor gave me Mr. Morgan’s name and number. I left his office and went to catch the bus. I sat there on the side of the road in tears looking down at the piece of paper. I said, “God, let this attorney be someone that will go to battle on my behalf not just for the money but because he also has empathy and the heart of an advocate.” It was a Saturday morning when I called his office and his staff were absolutely professional and showed quite a bit of empathy to my situation which made me feel as though what I was saying mattered. I am a firm believer that employees reflect the character of their supervisors and all I could think to myself was whoever Mr. Morgan was; he was good at what he did. Later on that day I received a call that they would take my case and I was filled with hope again. Shortly after I spoke with Mr. Morgan and he listened, took notes, and instructed me on what he needed from me. The client-attorney relationship was like a well-oiled machine throughout the whole process. What made Mr. Morgan different was when he asked me about how it made me feel regarding the driver’s response to being so careless. I shared the deep seat of outrage, pain, and worry that I carried between tears. I couldn’t sit up for long periods of time anymore. It was hard to sleep and this injury made my day to day life all the more challenging than it already had been. The main thing I was concerned about was getting all my mounting medical bills from the accident paid off. Mr. Morgan was very transparent with what my options were and what the great and not-so-great outcomes could be in this case. At the end of the first phone call, I had hope that he had zeal enough to face my Goliath of a problem and advocate for my best interest. Months later into the case, when I got the call from him, I was in the middle of a meeting at work so I didn’t take the first call. He tried two more times and on the third time in the back of my mind I though; this could be important. When I answered, you could hear success in his voice; he could hardly contain it. When he shared the news of the settlement decision, I was stunned. Mr. Morgan took the torch of my vision for the end result of my case and superseded my expectations. He told me it took him 40 minutes to have this victory. I was amazed because, once again, the odds were definitely not in my favor. Let me just add that even during COVID-19, Mr. Morgan's staff did much of the work remotely with no case interruption. One of Mr. Morgan's staff Diana explained the complex legal stuff in a language I understood; plain English. I walked away with a settlement that covered my medical bills and also left me with room to pay off other debts. I still feel at times that I am dreaming. If you ever need an attorney to stand on your behalf in the battle field of justice, call Mr. Morgan; he is not just an attorney, he cares, he listens, and will fight for your rights. His staff are amazing, patient, and very attentive.
