My wife and I are both 74 years old, and we felt it was time to set up the proper estate planning accurately describe our final wishes and also avoid paying any unnecessary taxes when our assets are passed on to our beneficiaries or heirs. The Law Offices of Frye, Fortich and Garcia handled all of these matters for us. We had the good fortune to get the proper legal advice and documentation from Austin Frye and Lauren Garcia. They took all the time we needed to clearly our goals as a couple and individually. Not once did we feel that any question we had was too basic and unimportant. The entire experience was very professional and quite comfortable given the subject matter. We even had some good laughs along the way. On top of all this, we felt the fees charged were more than reasonable and fair. We recommend wholeheartedly to anyone who needs this type of legal expertise to consider using this law firm.

I’m Lou and my father passed away and left me his estate that had a 50 percent share of the property he owned with his girlfriend for 30 years. I was lost and Gus and Austin was my father’s attorney’s that I also inherited. I dealt mostly with Gus , who is a true professional and is always prompt returning calls and emails. Gus also helped with me purchasing an additional percentage of the property. I’d recommend Gus , Laura and Austin to anyone looking for attorneys that will always have your best interest. Thanks Lou

My experience with Frye, Fortich & Garcia has been a very positive experience. My husband and I did our trusts, but unfortunately, he passed away before we were able to implement changes. Ms. Garcia outlined everything that needed to be done for the estate. She guided me in the necessary paperwork and completed all the necessary court papers. In the process, Ms. Garcia also caught a big mistake the courts made by appointing the wrong executor. This was promptly corrected. I was advised of all the steps taken throughout these proceedings and told of all papers needed. If I did not have them, I was always provided with help. My questions were promptly and kindly answered. My experience has been very positive all the way through. Everyone in the office is courteous and prompt.

I would highly recommend the law firm of Frye, Fortich, and Garcia, PL. I first became acquainted with the firm when my mother chose them to write her will and to set up her trust. When my mother passed earlier this year, I called the firm and was immediately advised of what things I needed to attend to right away, and what things could wait until I was ready to proceed. When I was ready to start actively working on settling my mother's affairs, I met in person with Austin Frye and Lauren Garcia. They advised me, listened to my concerns, and helped me begin my work. For the most part, I worked with Lauren Garcia. I found her to be excellent to work with. She was very professional, but also compassionate. She was knowledgeable, and also was able to articulate and explain things that were entirely new to me. She was clearly my advocate, and I trusted her to direct me wisely. As with many families, there were bumps along the way with some members of my family, but every time I thought things were going to go off the rails, Ms. Garcia reassured me that we were doing things correctly, and as my mother wished, and all would be well. She was always right. One of the things I most appreciate about this firm is the communication. Whether I communicated by email or by phone, if I had a question or a concern, I knew without a doubt that I would get a response promptly, often within a few minutes. Whether I was dealing with the people at the front desk, a paralegal or an attorney, I was always treated with the utmost respect. They made me feel like I was their only client. In fact, one time when I called and was told that Ms. Garcia would have to call me back as she was on a call with another client, I joked that sometimes I had to remind myself that I wasn't her only client. When you are trying to do business while in the process of grieving, that really makes a huge difference. I absolutely will use this firm again when I need legal assistance and advice.

I went in to see Carolina to help my father with an immigration issue. He had a case from 1985 that was could have gotten him deported. Ms. Corona informed us that we can try to get the case re-opened and try to get the charges reduced. After about 6 months I just got word that the judge approved to re open the case. We are now waiting to see what will happen with the original case but she is very knowledgable and has been very helpful through out the process. I will post an update when I get one.

Johnlee solved a contract problem for me with reasonable billing. He did just what a lawyer is supposed to do by providing "a lawyer's stock in trade" which is good advice and direction based on his education and experience. I thought his extensive education in other fields was a big help as well.

Alejandro Vera is a great Estate Lawyer and Bilingual. I was looking for a Spanish speaking lawyer as my mother only speaks Spanish. After speaking to Alejandro over the phone I hired him. Alejandro has a true passion for his job. Compassion for his clients. When me and my mother went to his office he immediately asked my mother what was her first language. He spoke to my mother in Spanish and answered all my mother's questions. Alejandro has great communication skills and a willingness to listen. Alejandro did a awesome job with the Estate Will and gave me very clear instructions. I will recommend Alejandro Vera. Thank you very much.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Miami, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
