I retained Bill Umansky to do some preliminary work on a criminal case. Usually, I never trust attorneys. They always seem to have an attitude, think they are better than you, and only care about taking your money. This experience was the complete opposite of that!! Bill was really great. He has a great sense of humor, he treated me like a human being, and talked to me like I was an equal and not a lower form of life. He did exactly what he said he was going to do and when the time came up that I could have chosen to pay more money to him to continue retaining him, he told me that he didn't want to take my money for no reason, and that he felt that I should just wait awhile and then see if I needed to retain him again later. I was really surprised that he actually was so honest and straightforward and did not just try to get more money out of me. Talking to Bill was very comfortable and he made me feel better about the horrible situation I was in. Most importantly, he didn't lie to me. When you're in the middle of a legal proceeding you definitely don't need an attorney who is rude and greedy. You need Bill instead! Bill definitely made me feel like he knew what he was doing, he was knowledgeable and I felt safe with him handling a delicate situation. I can't say enough how much I appreciate this law firm. From the moment I contacted them till the conclusion of the case, working with Jose Garcia and his team was a blessing. We had initially hired a less expensive atty who seemed inattentive to our needs and somewhat condescending. I had spoken to Umansky previously but went with the less expensive atty. After a week or two of dealing with Atty #1, I reached out to Umansky to see if they would take our case. They agreed and what a night and day difference between the two attys. Umansky charged only slightly more.... But, the quality of service and atty skill was far better and definitely worth it! I knew we made the right decision when we were told that we could get a hold of them at any time, night or day, via phone or email....and they were true to their word. Just simple communication gave my friend who was incarcerated much needed relief. Jose Garcia is an amazing atty. He fought to get us a bond hearing and the outcome we had hoped for, going above and beyond at times. He communicated well with his client advising him of the situation realistically without giving false hopes yet remaining optimistic and offering support beyond legal speak. Our case has ended with a conclusion that turned out well and was far better than what we were initially facing. We owe this outcome and more importantly, the timeliness of the outcome to the work of Garcia. During this Covid-19 ordeal, being in jail is especially unbearable. So having an atty that will act on your behalf appropriately and QUICKLY is huge! Jose moved things along far more quickly than would have otherwise happened with just a PD.
