Pros
1
Highly experienced and knowledgeable attorney who is well-respected in the legal community
“Scott Skier is an amazing criminal defense lawyer. I have known him for about five years now and have went through him for several cases ranging from minor traffic tickets, to misdemeanors to felonies.”
2
Provides personalized attention and communication with clients
“Scott doesn't act as your average, hard to reach attorney who is too busy to talk to their clients and has the secretary deal with them, and the only time you see them is in court, if they even show up. He is always available 9/10 times and answers his cell phone and texts you updating and reassuring you that he does have your back.”
3
Achieves excellent outcomes for clients, including getting charges reduced or dismissed
“Within weeks before my 1st court appearance Mr. Skier asked me to come in so we could talk, as I'm sitting there going through the legal aspect and the process or whatnot. Mr.Skier told me (paraphrasing here) We may not even have to go to court, There's a big chance of getting a no file on this case.”
4
Compassionate and goes above and beyond for clients
“If you are arrested in Palm Beach (or really anywhere in South Florida), you should hire this guy. No nonsense, reliable, knowledgeable on the law, trustworthy, and a hard worker is how I'd describe Scott.”
5
Affordable and provides good value for services
“As far as prices go, he is worth whatever he asks. He never over charges and his services are definitely worth the money.”

Scott Skier is an Exceptional Attorney! From the moment we contacted him, he was professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable! He took the time to listen to all the details and explained everything in a way that made us feel informed and confident. Scott’s deep understanding of criminal law and the legal system was evident in every interaction. If you’re looking for an attorney who genuinely cares about his clients and will fight for your rights, Scott Skier is the one you want in your corner. I’m beyond grateful for his help and would give more than 5 stars if I could!

He was paid $10.000 of my money, he never communicated with me, only my ruthless sister, I ended up with a felony which has ruined my Problem was he not knowing (especially odd for what I see is supposed to be a attorney with great reviews) what my legal address was since 2014, my license clearly stated that & I had been living with my Mother for a consistent 9 months, & through the years on and off. 2 nd Judge gave me ankle monitor, Mr Scott Skier said "Well if you had somewhere to go we could have fought this, your Mother had many problems." Even the public defender knew that was my address. Never got back in the building, never saw my mail or belongings again. The police report was absurd, my Mother had dementia and also made up stories, she stated that I had just moved in the day before coming from jail....I actually thought the detective made that up. I actually flew in January 2021 from Long Island, NY, she actually was upset I didn't make it there for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I was arrested October 2021 for nothing!!! I have to add that I went to apply for Social security, April 2024, they told me they could not pay incarcerated people, I was in shock.... Evidently the case was never closed. They thought I was an escaped prisoner😱😎😂😡I met attorneys that said they knew him very well, my sisters flew in from NY & changged the locks on my own residence that I shared with my Mother, I was told my new attorneys I could have knocked the door down on the 22 nd. floor

Since 1988 this law firm has helped clients get billions of dollars for their injury claims but you have yet found a professional method of communication skills . It’s ridiculous the run around scheme that has been played with people for years and it’s unacceptable!! For months, weeks and days after days a call back is promised by the attorney, ( that you are paying for ) and all their legal team and no one calls you back ! You speak with the receptionist who puts you on hold .. then returns to tell you that “everyone is in a meeting “ , you leave the same voicemail and there’s no result ! My family and I would like nothing more than for this to be over with ! We are tired of the lies , deception, games you play and unprofessionalism all together ! Attorney Gregory Dutch, Tatiana ( legal assistant ) and Carlos (supervisor). It is unethical to tell your client they must just sit and wait when a case was ended in January! It’s now the middle of July and you’re telling me the firm doesn’t have funds ?? What happened to all the billions of dollars you’ve collected?? Or should I ask Help me Howard or Channel 10 news to help me find them !?? Please feel free to contact ELIAS R! So we can end this matter ! I’m sure by now everyone knows this clients name since we call every day !

Very unprofessional when it comes to communication with clients. I called and left voicemails with lawyer and legal assistant and nobody ever calls back. Never was able to speak to the attorney unless he wanted to speak to you. Would never recommend to anybody else. Don’t fall for the big name brand people. Stay far away!

If you want an attorney who is responsive and caring, Carlos should be your number one choice. I contacted Carlos for a consultation on employment and non-competes. He immediately lifted the burden for me and got to work. He is extremely professional He not only gave me answers right away, but assured me he would be there every step of the way. I am grateful to have him working on my case, and have enjoyed working with him so much that I know he will be my first choice attorney for life. Thank you Carlos!

Nicole is a great Attorney! She is fair with her pricing and I never feel like she is talking to me just to run the clock. I was recommended to Nicole by a mutual friend in 2005 and she assisted me in a child custody matter concerning my granddaughter. I have since referred her to friends and used her myself for similar cases, real estate transactions and other legal matters, all of which were resolved better than could be anticipated. The thing I appreciate most about Nicole and that separates her from other attorneys I have used in the past is the fact that she tries to get you to work the matter out with the other party and not have you cut off communication (a tactic commonly used by other attorneys to rack up their bill). She truly cares about helping you come to an amicable resolution. However, this being said she becomes a bulldog if necessary and the case goes to trial.

First legal relationship I ever had in 1986 with a new real estate investment and incorporating my company: since I have retained Counselor Bennett for estate planning with my parents, in-laws and my Personal family wills. He was at my wedding and my parents funerals: a family friend for 36 years!

It seems that I have known David forever. I have retained him over a number of years from time to time and been very happy with the results that he was able to obtain for me. My first experience with him as an attorney many years ago was when my father retained him to pursue a fire damage claim to our family’s seashore summer house in New Jersey. In the offseason, workmen were renovating the interior of the house and, specifically, installing a new kitchen. After they had left for the weekend, a fire started in the house in the middle of the night and there was significant fire damage. David had the moxie to retain the retired Fire Marshall for the City of Philadelphia as an expert witness who confirmed David’s suspicion as to the cause and origin of the fire. Before they had left for the weekend, the workmen had decided to have a party in the living room to celebrate the end of the work week. Along with the empty beer cans, one of the workers inadvertently dropped a lit cigarette inside the living room couch to smolder for several hours resulting in the fire. In proving the origin and burn pattern of the fire, David was able to secure a sizable and unexpected settlement from the insurance carrier for the renovation company. The latest matter that David handled for me was the administration of the estate of my late mother who owned personal and real property in the States of New Jersey and Florida. His administration of the estate in those separate jurisdictions was seamless. His particular knowledge of New Jersey income tax procedure saved me tens of thousands of dollars that my accountant was prepared to have me hand over to the tax authorities in that State. Even when the Florida estate administration became complicated by the homeowners association action to foreclose on the Florida house for alleged non-payment of HOA fees, David was able to have that matter resolved and dismissed. He is quite a talent and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I am a CPA in the suburban Philadelphia are, and have known David personally for over 50 years and professionally for more than 30 years. If I have a particularly complex estate or trust matter which may or has included fiduciary litigation, income, gift or estate taxation, and has litigation between beneficiaries, creditors or as against the Internal Revenue Service, I have David on my speed dial. Ultimately, these matters are referred to him, and our office has retained him on any number of related files. Not only a good friend by his deeds, I once had to explain to my father that the reason we were good friends was that he was and is fearless, no matter the adversary in and out of business. So it was no surprise to me when he took on the fifth largest law firm at the time in Philadelphia and beat them representing a contestant in a will contest over a several million dollar estate even though his adversaries had the advantage financially and with a far more extensive staff at their disposal. I would enthusiastically recommend him to any potential client.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of West Palm Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
