I was the victim of a hit and run accident on I-285. It was actually a 7 car pile up caused by a semi truck the fled the scene. I was vehicle #6 & the person that hit me, #7, also fled the scene. Two hours later when the police arrived, I was given a citation for following too close during an accident! I was told this offense was punishable by 12 months in jail & $1000 fine. The police officer didn’t believe I was hit; nor did she appear to be listening when asked to give my account of the accident. She concluded it was several separate accidents & I was told I could go to jail! Scared to death, I reached out to the only attorney I knew at the time here in GA. Due to the location, he wasn’t able to help me personally, but gave me several recommendations in my area. He advised me on what I needed & what to ask. Because of the location of the accident, I would have to go to Clayton County Court. Clint Barbour was highly recommend. I called his office & was greeted by a very professional, caring young lady who took down all of my information and Mr. Barbour, himself, called me back. I had spoken with 4 other attorneys’ offices before his call. He was the only one that made me feel comfortable and had time for me. He spoke to me with respect, and treated me like a person and not a criminal. We made an appointment to meet in his office where again I was greeted by his office assistant. Still very professional and caring; Jessica gave me the necessary paperwork, offered me something to drink & made sure I was comfortable. I was taken back to the conference room as soon as I completed the paperwork. Mr Barbour was already there, ready to work. He made me feel like he was really listening to me. He could sense my fear of the unknown & did his best to make me feel calm. I really felt like he was going to fight for me & help me! He even told me I was now part of the family! I knew I wasn’t guilty and didn’t feel I should have been charged and he didn’t either! During the entire process, any time I had a question or concern, I could call his office. I never got a recording. Jessica was always pleasant and helpful and I always got to speak directly to Mr. Barbour. I wasn’t just a name on a piece of paper, a number in his file or dollar signs in his eyes! I was his client; his family member. I had never been in a situation like this and Mr. Barbour made sure to let me know he would handle everything and not to worry. He did!! My case was DISMISSED! It was filed Nolle Prossed with the court & the case was closed! Mr. Barbour called me directly to let me know as soon as it was over and was genuinely happy to share the news. It was like a friend calling me and not a stiff, uncaring stranger! Clint Barbour gave me my life back! I had really been stressing over the entire situation & for the first time since the accident, I felt like I could take a breath.
