And she successfully defended an attempt to modify my original divorce document so that my ex husband wouldn’t have to pay alimony. My original lawyer was not knowledgeable about a foreign divorce from another state and how to enforce it in Georgia. Several lawyers told me that my divorce agreement was vulnerable to being modified, but Patty knows the law, and she knew better. She has special experience in dealing with foreign judgments. She knew my original divorce agreement was not modifiable. And we won our case! She always explained the law to me in a way I could understand. She knew my case backwards and forwards. She is a calm yet tough and confident negotiator. Patty always had my back. I HIGHLY recommend this incredibly competent lawyer.

If you want a law firm that truly will help you avoid this one at all costs. Being as though I'm a disabled vet and I needed help with a family law case I was referred here. Even though it was a pro bono case they didnt do anything to help my case. I now see the blessing in this if I had paid my hard earned money I would have been more disappointed than I already was. Do yourself a favor and go with another law firm you will be glad that you did. The people I worked with truly did not care and they did not offer any true resolve to my case. Beware you have been warned.

I'm currently going thru a ugly divorce in which my opposition refuses to play fair. I am a 90% disabled veteran attempting to recoup lost benefits from mistreatment by the Army National Guard. Reached out to Patti Shewmaker and spoke with someone who’s demeanor on the phone appeared to be nothing more than refuting my intentions bye quickly telling me I was wrong based on her understanding of the limited facts that she had from me within a five minute phone call. Was unable to give the complete story of what happened with me. This lady came off as rude, abrupt and just not very comfortable to talk to. Rather than continuing what seemed to be a process no more comfortable than a tooth extraction appointment with my dentist, I used my best judgment and ended the conversation with this rude lady. Word to the wise, before you spend thousands of dollars, ensure they have the communication skills needed to take care of you.
