It's been nearly a year since I cut off my finger at work & I still haven't gotten any compensation... I thought it was the attorney's responsibility to ensure the client was taken care of...you know, compensated. I was out of work, had to return to work early just to pay my bills & play hell even getting a call back from my attorney. They have not been any help. Last time I heard from my attorney, he advised that he was giving the state 1 week to make an offer or he would push the case through to trial, that was over 2 months ago & I haven't heard a thing more about it. Workers Compensation is intended to help the injured worker through a difficult time of healing. Attorneys are hired by the injured worker with the expectation of justice for the case but in my case, I believed they could help collect compensation for the injury when it was needed the most. If Work Comp & a Work Comp Attorney are both intended to help the injured worker, somebody tell me why it takes a year for the worker to get any help?! My attorney should have made sure I was compensated for the time off work as a result of the injury at minimum. Not to mention the medical bills now in collections, the pain & suffering or even the prescriptions ordered by the surgeon. Instead, the worker is left to wonder what the case status is or when any compensation would eventually be paid, unable to reach the attorney or get a call or email back from them as promised. Attorney's get rich by taking people's money & providing the least amount of work possible to the client, with that, they can "help" 50x more people & still not put in a hard day's work. Must be nice to have a job where taking 20% of a case settlement only requires 1% effort & you've got an entire year to put it forward.
