Just about anyone who has been through it will tell you that divorce is the absolute worst experience of their entire life. Those going through it are dealing with an overwhelming number of issues including children, living arrangements, the end of long-held dreams and more all while emotions are running at a fever pitch. For the primary income provider in the family, there's concern about what will become of savings and assets built and worked for over decades. An unknown future - when they had such a clear picture of what their future would be - can give someone going through divorce fear and anxiety. Robbin D. Vanderwoude was a source of expertise, experience, compassion, understanding, calm, confidence and hope. There wasn't a single aspect of divorce she hasn't faced, been through or mastered. To ensure that she can give her clients the level of service and support they need and deserve, she limits the number of cases she takes. Robbin doesn't want to serve the maximum number of clients at once, she wants to serve the number possible where she can give them a high standard of service. My greatest fear with hiring a divorce lawyer was that they would unnecessarily draw out the process so that they could earn more income on fees, sowing conflict to drag the process out. Robbin did anything but that, regularly counseling me on when to agree and what things to stand firm on. She often advised me on the likelihood of success and the need to recognize emotion and not act on it. She was practical and pragmatic. It is probably why an expert mediator I contacted recommended Robbin as one of a handful of divorce lawyers serving Lake County that are focused on reaching agreement, engaging in extensive, drawn-out conflict with nothing to show for it but more bitterness and money wasted on legal bills. It is probably also why she has earned the respect of judges, court officials and other family lawyers. As awful as the divorce experience was, Robbin made it much less so. Having Robbin in my corner reduced my concern, my worry, fear and anxiety and helped me reach an outcome I could live with. I spoke to many husbands that didn't feel good about their representation or the final outcome. Because of Robbin, I never felt that way. Robbin and her support was a source of light and the brightest part of an otherwise dark experience. I whole-heartedly recommend Robbin in the strongest possible terms. She was an outstanding ally, advocate and counselor during the worst, most soul-crushing and expensive experience of my life. I can't imagine going through it without her. Jessica was recommended to me when my wife filed for divorce and threatened to take full custody of my son.
