I have referred clients to Bob for criminal representation and for divorce. Bob is excellent in both areas. You can't do any better.

I have never been so lucky as I was to stumble across Bob Heap in an internet search of lawyers. I was being accused of something, but while my actual actions were not criminal, the implication of them could be perceived as such. Bob stepped in and guided me through the mess that became my life. He helped deal with the ramifications in my former job, family, and criminal investigation. Bob provided me with advice, insight, and his understanding of all the situations. He prepared me as best he could for everything I would experience as a result of the accusation as well as any criminal proceedings. I often tell people, Bob saved my sanity and my world. For me, one of the most important benefits I received from choosing Bob Heap was the support. His assistants were unfailingly pleasant, kind, and helpful. When possible, they always tried to connect me with Bob but also would listen to my long rambling concerns and relay them if needed. Nobody ever made me feel like a burden or I was wasting their time. As for Bob, he has the most amazingly confident, calming presence. I’m a very high strung, anxious person. Yet, Bob exudes an aura that was able to relieve my nerves. It was not a false optimism, but rather a positive yet honest outlook. Further, he was very rational and nonjudgmental, both of which made it easier to trust him. The allegations against me would have meant criminal charges, but the truth of what I had done would not. Bob spent a lot of time talking to the prosecutor to find out where my “case” stood before finally discovering that there was no charge coming. While this part was tedious but straightforward, Bob guided me in telling me what I could and could not do and what the consequences of any behaviors or actions would be. He worked hard prior to the decision to prepare for any criminal charge and ensure there was none. In case of a charge, he set me up with outside experts that would benefit me for the criminal aspect as well as family issues resulting from it. Unfortunately, while the criminal part was easy to resolve, albeit time consuming, other aspects of my life suffered far worse. Throughout this process, I was dealing with family issues. As a result of the allegations, DCFS stepped in and my interaction with my daughter suffered. DCFS also tried to say that I was not allowed to do certain things that I actually was. Bob clarified what information they provided me was accurate, and when it was not, he worked with them directly to address and resolve it for me. He also continually let me know what my choices were to DCFS actions. This knowledge and work ensured that I was able to maintain the job I secured after the criminal investigation began and maintained as much of my former parenting with my daughter as was possible. Further, Bob’s primary concern was always that I keep my daughter, and he worked to make sure that happened. Bob chose to show up at divorce proceedings and took over dealing with DCFS. While neither of those two are currently resolved, I still have complete faith that I’m in good hands. I realize that I have not provided many concrete details as to what my case was, but a part of that is that the issues I’m struggling with are not fully closed. What I can say is that I never realized that a criminal allegation would have so many noncriminal implications. Bob anticipated most of them and prepared me. He also gave me the sense of an ally and the voice of reason. He continues to work on piecing my life back together for me: DCFS, my former job, my current job, my divorce, my custody battle, etc. I can never express enough gratitude for his work. He did not just work the criminal allegations; Bob focused on my life and all things needed to repair the damage the accusations caused to it. Today, I am happier and more confident in the challenges I have yet to conquer and the obstacles I have already resolved thanks to Bob Heap. Truly.

Bob Heap was capable, professional, accessible, and genuinely cared about the outcome of my case. After being arrested twice in ten days for drunk driving, I was expecting to face the indefinite loss of my lisence, as well as some serious jail time. However, in part through careful strategizing and a good relationship with the prosecutors, Bob was able to get me court supervision for one charge (which ordinarily I wouldn't have been eligible for) and get the second reduced to reckless driving. I'm still looking at some pretty stiff penalties, but it could have been much, much, worse. I'll be getting my lisence back in a matter of months, I'll have escaped without any DUIS on my record, and I have Bob to thank for that.

In a word Bob and his staff are the "Best". Between personal and professional legal needs over the past ten years Bob has handled each case with great attention to detail and a commitment to provide the best legal counsel possible. Bob is an attorney who is extremely well respected both in the community and among legal experts throughout the county. Without hesitation I would recommend Bob to anyone looking for an attorney with integrity and an understanding of the law that sets him apart wether the setting is his office, the courtroom or at a real estate closing. Bob is an amazing lawyer. The price for what I needed done was great, and I honestly am glad I spent it on a good lawyer rather than someone who was inexperienced. The one thing I am absolutely amazed of is his honesty. I never expected it coming from a lawyer. Not only is he honest, but he will prepare you for what to expect and even give you the odds of it happening. In my case, my issue was dismissed and then expunged due to how well he handled everything with the Judge and in the courtroom. It was absolutely amazing to watch - better than something you'd see on TV. I would absolutely use him again (hopefully I don't have to!) and have recommended him to others.

When one secures the services of an attorney there are usually stressful circumstances involved. Before hiring Bob, I met with 2 other attorneys regarding my issue. Bob immediately made me feel more comfortable. I remember he said to me "I'm now in the boat with you. You're not alone in this situation any longer". That was a huge relief that helped put me at ease. This understanding was what cemented my decision to have Bob represent me.
