I had been wearing glasses for 27 years and finally decided to do Lasik.
I just had my 2 week follow up and I am ready to write my review for my Lasik procedure (6/17/2021). First and foremost, Donna and her staff are amazing. You will be taken care of 100%. The procedure is not even 10 min long and I experienced ZERO pain. I took the valium about 25 min before the procedure. Once you are in the room, the amazing staff guide you step by step. You lay down, they elevate your knees to make you comfortable, they even give you 2 stress balls to have during the procedure. Numbing drops go in, then the doc explains everything he does. They put something in your eye to open it all the way and then you feel pressure for less than 20 seconds. They do this one eye at a time. Then the doc will do work on your corneas for 15 seconds: cut - shape - flatten (one eye at a time). THAT IS IT FOLKS. Then you get up and SEE WITHOUT GLASSES. Yes, it was that quick for me to see and I was in shock.
My ride took me home (you cant drive yourself home) and in the car I felt it was getting harder to open my eyes, really watery like someone cut a ton of onions. Tears came down, a lot. But that's good, because it means my eyes are trying to heal. I took Tylenol PM and went to bed right away with the goggles they gave me. You must have your eyes closed for 4-6 hours after the procedure.
You must NOT rub your eyes at all for 1 week. You wear goggles at night for a few days. I needed to wear sunglasses inside and outside for a week. Light at night is a halo (this was the only irritating part of the whole thing) but wont last long. The eyes are adjusting to this new super power of sight after all. I was worried about rubbing my eyes, but I was obsessive and super alert about it. Keep up with medicated drops and artificial tears. One last thing, I had dryness (again, normal and expected) and it was the worst in the morning when I woke up, but each day got better.
No regrets. If you can do lasik, DO LASIK!
Thank you to everyone at LASIK Vision Institute at Tinley Park!

I had a love and hate relationship with my lasik experience.
First thing 20/20 vision is NOT a guarantee.
Second they tell you to rest for only ONE day after surgery BUT after my 2 week post-op visit I found out that it actually takes 3 months for your eyes to fully heal.
It’s been 3 months and I hate how my world goes blurry for a few seconds if I squint my eyes or rub them. Also My night vision is terrible, any light in the dark is extremely fuzzy. Plus your eyes will become extremely sensitive in the sunlight. Finally your eyes will forever be dry.
Last thing your vision will change as you get older even if you had lasik.

Don’t waste your time..
We were referred here by one of our friends l. My husband had an apt yesterday for a “free” consult. Testing went normal. When it came down to presenting price we were told 3700 for both eyes with a 20% discount. Sounds a little steep to me. Also my husband stated that the doctor didn’t seem to nice and or friendly especially after he told him that we would think about it. Which I find a bit odd that it’s shocking to think about a 3700$ investment. I called back later that day to discuss treatment and talk with her about pricing since they had a Groupon for 1000$ off I had spoken with Donna. Donna stated that the 1000$ would be applied to to the 4700$ ( the price without the 20% discount). So it would have been around the same price. I asked her why was one of our friends cheaper then? Keep in mind I know everyone’s eyes are different and that there’s no set price but I was just hoping for a ball park. Donna then asked for the patients name and that she’d call me back. She did, and this is when it took a turn. She gave me the break down of our friends cost , but then stated “ well that’s when he had the old laser we use a new one now so our prices went up” okay I get that but when I asked for my husbands record that they took that day she said sorry we don’t give that out and HUNG up the phone in my face. Of course I tried to call back and no answer. So now I’m calling their call center get transferred over again to this location and now I’m speaking with someone else. I informed her that I just want my husbands test results sent over via email. Now she is telling me that electronically she can’t then said ok let me just ask hold on. Places me on hold to now talk to the assistant who said that because the consult was free that your not a paying customer and you can’t get your records!! This lack of professionalism is beyond words! This place is a scam and clearly cares about money. Save your time there are better places than here to get lasik!!

So initially I was supposed to get surgery done in April 2020 for my birthday but then covid hit and the office was closed down, so I tried again April 2021 for my birthday again, I went in on April 8th for my consultation then scheduled my surgery for April 9th, I was nervous at first but I was excited to get this life changing procedure done. I finally went in for surgery which lasted about 25-30 mins 10-15 mins per each eye. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. My eyes were a bit sore the first day but after the first day I was perfectly fine and seeing better than I had ever before. Still to this day my vision is getting better and better I’m able to read small print under the billboards on the highway and it’s so crazy to me especially coming from wearing glasses my whole entire life. I’m constantly hearing things like you look different without your glasses or the fact that I used to squint a lot now my eyes are fully open and people are complimenting me on my natural eye color. Thank you Lasik Vision Institute, you guys were amazing and helpful the entire time. I definitely recommend going here for surgery guys! 🙏🏾🙏🏾

I had my Lasik procedure done almost two months ago at the Tinley Park location. Staff was super friendly, they answered all my questions. I had trouble with scheduling the procedure because I was so busy at the time and they helped work around my schedule to get it done. My follow up visits went well, I can see 20/20 now which is unbelievable because my vision was sooo bad before. I have been experiencing a little sensitivity to light, mostly outdoors when it’s very bright out and occasional headaches, but I was told that’s normal and should improve over time. I have noticed improvements in this now that I’m almost at the two month mark. Anyways, I recommend the procedure and I recommend this location!

Had a great experience at the LASIK Vision institute in Tinley Park. Staff was friendly. Never waited more than a couple minutes in the waiting room, appointments were quick and to the point. Surgery was freaky, but over quickly and the staff was great at helping you through.
Dr. Jonathan McGlothan performed my surgery, who I see online on another vision centers website has done over 70,000 procedures. I had a slight concern going in because there are no surgeons listed on the LVI website in Illinois, but he was great.
Today was my 3 week out appointment I was able to read the 20/15 line of text and was told my eyes had healed nicely.
I would recommend them to anyone looking to get LASIK.

***Update***
The doctor ended up giving me a prescription that turned out to be too strong. I went to an ophthalmologist who now tells me I will need 2 different pair of glasses. 1 for far vision aka driving and 1 for near vision aka working at my computer. I had a very light prescription for far sightness. I thought I was fixing a simple problem. I went from wearing glasses only to drive. To now needing glasses for everything. I disputed the procedure with care credit which is how I paid just for the case to be closed in the doctors favor. I cant see anything. Everything is blurry now.. DO NOT GO HERE... its not worth your eyesight.. see original post below
I’ve had a horrible experience. The over all process went fast. Came on a Friday for consult had surgery the next day. I couldn't see thing fR back. I had a very light prescription however I wS tired of wearing glasses at night. I had my surgery 11-22-20. Now I can't see anything close up. I can barely read my text messages on my phone. My follow up appointment was rescheduled. The doctor is never in on certain days. I work m-f hours are never convenient for someone who work a 9-5. Worse decision of my life. Im scared to even hear what my follow up appointment will reveal. Pretty sure I will be right back wearing glasses but now because I'm near sighted. I should have left my eyes alone.
