The ladies here were AWESOME!!! They made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Everyone greeted me when I arrived in the office. The ladies were very informative and comforting. Kim Thauer is theeeeee best, she has the best personality. This procedure is something I’ve put off for years of fear and the ladies at the Tinley location put me at ease with all the information that they gave me. I’m sooo happy that I chose this location.

They were an amazing TEAM. It takes a team to be the best and they have this perfected. From the first time I walked through their doors they proved to me I was in competent and caring hands. This was extremely important to me as I didn't know what to expect. By the time I was done I was very comfortable I made a great decision. They never failed me!

I'd been thinking about this procedure for awhile. I'm from NW-Indiana and had been doing my research on facilities around me (I don't mind traveling for exceptional results). My best friend had her surgery with LVI 3 years ago and after only hearing back from LVI, I decided to move forward with them - I base a lot of my decision-making on previous experience and what friends/family have to say about such experiences themselves. At the time of scheduling, I had an inconsistent work schedule so I knew that would be my only obstacle; however, Kim (Practice Manager / Coordinator), Donna (front desk) and Hala (tech) were able to address all of my questions, console me, and worked around my hectic schedule. They were so understanding and wanted to make sure I was taken care of at an appropriate time for me to ensure my healing process was going according to plan.
Procedure and Aftermath: Upon walking into the office on my procedure day, I saw an older lady walking out of the front office doors by herself with sunglasses on and an upside down name tag attached to the left side of her sweater. While she was walking out, she noticed me walking in and was holding the door for me to walk in. It dawned on me and was confirmed that she was literally walking out of her procedure, after I was also walking out of the front doors with the same sunglasses and upside down name tag on my sweater - couldn't believe it!
During the procedure, you feel a little bit of uncomfortable pressure, but nothing intolerable or feeling of pain whatsoever! I'm sure the Valium assists with that as well. Each eye took ~5min to treat, they helped me get up from the table, gave me my "Terminator" sunglasses with my to-go kit, and I was ready to go! It's critical that you get rest after your surgery - you're going to want to rest the eyes as they feel heavy, and you don't want to interfere with your results anyways. The sun was still going down and my eyes started to get extremely sensitive to the light so they naturally wanted to be closed. Again, my work schedule was not allowing me to do a required 24hr post-op, but the team was understanding and fit me in 3days post-op. I went into work the next day and was able to see the computer screen and drive into work without any problems!!! My colleagues couldn't even believe that I was back in the office the next day! I was able to get out of work early that day and even called the office to see if I was able to make it in for a 24hr post-op. The eye doctor (I unfortunately forget his title and name, but he was so kind) was kind enough to wait for me to get to the office - I'm telling you, they were so understanding with every obstacle I faced! I hated being that patient but, they were empathetic and so flexible. My 1wk post-op, Dr. Greenberg (eye surgeon) confirmed that I was 20/20 in BOTH EYES and instructed me with additional post-op care. I naturally have dry eyes and these days, I'm always looking at a screen. Along with turning off the Blue Light on my e-devices and using blue light glasses while at work, he suggested eye drops to keep my eyes from feeling so heavy. I've been using Systane Ultra and haven't had any concerns yet. I'm still a bit sensitive to light, but I've always been that way prior to the surgery.
Expectations: Honestly, the fact that I get up without having to look for my glasses is more than what I anticipated! The fact that I don't feel like I need to put on contacts for special events is one less hassle I have to deal with! The fact that I don't have to clean my contacts or have to take them off before I start getting a migraine is so much more than I anticipated! I've been wearing glasses since I was 8yrs old and my eyesight just worsened with age. Turning 30yrs old and NOT having vision insurance, I needed to put a more elongated band-aid to this aging issue. I'm sure my eyes still have to adjust, but 2wks post-op, I can't imagine my eyes getting more better than this! I'd do this 100x's over again! One of the best investments I could've made! LOVE IT!
