Kat and the team in her office were absolutely wonderful in dealing with my case over a span of 18 months. When I first met Kat, I was hoping for an “open and shut” case as this was what my ex wife and I were interested in – however I had prepared myself for the case going to trial as I knew my ex wife too well. At the end of the day, I got much more than what I wanted and in the long-term, my lower monthly support payments are substantially less than what my ex wife was trying to obtain (and less than I had in mind going into the case). The case was settled on the day the trial was to begin, based on recommendations from the Judge which I gladly accepted. Everyone in Kat’s office was very professional in dealing with my case. When Kat was on maternity, her colleagues took over and dealt with issues professionally. This review is not just about Kat’s abilities, but the entire team at her firm. A word of advice for anyone hiring an attorney for a divorce – go with someone local, who only focuses on family law and has a strong team behind them. Kat’s knowledge of the Court, the other attorneys, the judges and the details of Illinois law allow her to be well respected in the judicial community.

David has a strong and gifted presence upfront, but poor execution. I retained him for legal services and he committed to cover the case well under the retainer by leveraging his staff. After accepting the assignment he was brief, late and arrogant in his style with me. He billed all hours at his rate and hit his retainer then quit as my lawyer. I plan on going to BBB and the State with my full complaint as soon as I have time. I would not advise hiring him based on my experience.

I am a father who was looking for guidance on a divorce this being my first. Being married for 12 years and having two daughter I wanted to make sure I was doing what is right for my daughter and making sure I was not going to be taken advantage of at the same time. Leigh Kathryn Allen was extremely helpful always providing me sound advice when I was not sure what to do. Her professionalism and kind demeanor was beneficial to me throughout this most difficult time. I felt very comfortable letting her know what was important to me and what I would be willing to give on. Being a true professional she would give me the news from my wife's attorney and the GAL then let me think about it before she would ask my thoughts. Even letting me see how things were not as bad as it may look at first. Making me realize that I was going to see my daughter every day. Ms. Allen made me realize I was the one who was going to be spending quality time with my daughters every day while they would sleep at my ex-wife during the school year. Having Ms. Allen on my side was priceless. I would give her my highest recommendation.

I did not use his services but a close friend of mine did, it turned out to be a disaster and had to be reviewed by the ARDC, Illinois supreme court. I would never use him or his staff for any legal cases.
