Ain't heard back and was accepted last year for divorce assistance

They do not help even if you can't afford an attorney

Iowa Legal Aid has been recommended for me on many different legal, civil, or housing issues I have had in the past 3-5 years. I feel it would be helpful for individuals to be informed in advance that the only way to actually receive support or assistance is to have a very low housing income as well as other qualifications that most do not fall under. Although I do appreciate the minimal assistance that has been provided, I find myself asking why I took time to contact them every time. I wonder who are you actually assisting, who is actually making it past the initial process over phone, and are those who are being assisted actually getting their issues resolved. Or are these cases just practice for paralegals and attorneys?

Don't be fooled. These lawyers will do nothing more for you than any other lawyer. They will try to get it into trial and get your bill up to 15K! Get your court matter into mediation and make an agreement do not go to trial. I went from a 5050 custody agreement no childsupport that I achieved myself the 1st time in court. Then My ex got a free legal aid lawyer and some how wins sole custody of my children. And I pay 1200 dollars a month now. So a free legal aid destroys cordell and cordell. Marcy Lungberg is lazy no communication. Horrible in open court. Shes not well spoken during trial and was not prepared. Don't be a fool like me.

I got a reply within a day and was connected to a legal aid person immediately who has stayed in contact with me very well so far and seems to be dilligent on what shes trying to accomplish on my behalf.

Got an attorney to help with divorce ended up paying almost $5500 and almost losing my house for a 1 1/2 mediation what a joke

They are pretty busy so I didn't get answer to my questions here. Otherwise I am sure it would have been a 5
