Is it wrong to seek out a lawyer who is strong in competence and prudent in their decision-making? Steve Lombardi has been a man of integrity from the beginning of accepting us as clients, and he fought to exhaust every option helping us find resolution. Hard to find a lawyer who hates to lose nowadays so I’m grateful we’ve met Steve.

Lombardi Law firm is awesome! In Feb. we came out to find our van was involved in a parking lot hit and run with several thousand dollars damage. Fortunately, this law firm actually answer the phones! I talked to Barbara who was very patient, she took down all our information, and Steve reached back out to us the very next day letting us know he'd take our case. Steve was quick with telling us how to go about getting estimates and took care of the rest of it. We were fortunate that we had a glimpse of the company that hit our van on video from a local business that had security cameras. Even though you couldn't see the truck hit our van directly, Steve was able to negotiate with the company and convince them to settle quickly. We were able to get the car into the shop, fixed up like new, and got the car back all within a month of finding the damage and contacting Steve and his team. I would highly recommend this small firm as they let me know what to expect and got us fixed as if nothing happened with so little effort!!

My son was served papers in the evening. My partner reached out and we left voice mails. So Brandon calls me this morning (10/15/20). While I was staring at those prefer of paper thinking about where I needed to start. Who would think a minor fender bender would lead to someone dying a year later. I was in silent freak out mode. When I spoke with Brandon, her listened to what I was saying, asked me questions as well as being understanding with a sense of humor. When completed the question and answer session. He told me to contact my insurance company that they will help me. He was confident.

It is an Honor to write a review regarding Brandon Mccaull Bohlman, as I was exceedingly pleased with the work which he did on my case. He explained everything very thoroughly; and when anything needed to be discussed, he was quick to get on the phone to contact me. Brandon was also quick to explain pros and cons, and explained everything in a way that I could easily understand. When I needed extra instructions, he would call me to come in to the office, and we would sit down and go over everything I needed to know in great detail. He had a calm personality, which helped to ease my own feelings of my own uncertainty if I was handling everything appropriate! I found his advise to be sound, good, and very up front with reality. I would wholeheartedly be glad to recommend his service to anyone who is wishing to hire a good attorney! You can't go wrong with Brandon's expertise!

I felt incredibly supported and well taken care of throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Jordan for anyone needing legal assistance. I consulted numerous attorneys through out the years regarding my current custody situation and after speaking with Jordan felt he was the right one to move forward with.

I want to thank Sydney Ross for the way she handled my case. It was difficult and required an extensive amount of research. Even though the odds were stacked against her in court, she represented me well. She shared my case with other attorneys in the practice who all supported her. All of the office staff were helpful and courteous. Sydney really cared and I appreciate her.

I am writing to commend Ms. Sydney Ross on her exemplary handling of my recent OWI on a golf cart case in Allamakee County. Ms. Ross was kind, considerate, aggressive, and most of all knowledgeable about the application of law in all four of my charges. Sydney took the time to understand all facets of my case. Her prompt replies to my inquiries assured me I was in capable and expert hands. She was able to access the discovery materials to determine the inaccuracy of the arresting officer’s assumptions. Those materials also included the blood alcohol level way below the legal limit, which was the explanation for the arrest. Her attention to details and ability to ask pertinent questions allowed her to attack the charges and get 3 of the 4 dropped from my file. Sydney’s team of professionals were also expert and well researched in their responses to me. McKayla quickly replied to my questions and if she was unsure, she deferred to Sydney for answers. I would recommend Ms. Sydney Ross to anyone who is struggling with an unjust arrest or charge. Thank you, Sydney! I will gladly put my trust in you again!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of West Des Moines, Iowa?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
