Laura was very disappointing. Outside of her being late for court meetings, she or her office over-billed repeatedly so make sure to check your bill and ask questions. There's way too many lawyer fish in the sea to have to settle on this one (no matter how cheap she seems to be in the beginning)! AVOID!

Tell me it's gonna cost 20k in retainer to go after county officials for misuse of funds and everything else you should be jumping on cases like this but nope you have rude receptionists who don't know the definition of commercial litigation when a company owns a subdivision and the contract cut with the county is in violation and the constituents are being left to fend for them selves well that's commercial litigation when it involves a llc and county commisioners

I strongly recommend RJM&W to anyone in need of legal services in any of their practice areas. The entire staff is friendly, professional, and a pleasure to speak with. I know this not only from an internship with the firm, but also as a client. I highly recommend Rich Williamson - He has been an absolute pleasure to work with. He is a brilliant legal mind, projects a calm confidence, keeps client cost/benefit considerations in mind, and treats everyone with the utmost respect and professionalism. He has been a valuable voice of reason in a variety of areas and I look forward to working with him for years to come.

Mr. Goldberg is a lawyer who is available 24 hours and he said the truth about his firm having an A+ in Better Business Bureau. I am a new client and many attorneys want my case but I chose him. He always willing to help me and always answers my calls with respect. When I called the office, the customer service is excellent and Mayra is an excellent and good worker. I took me two years to be able to review Mr. Goldberg and his partner David Waterbury. Mr. Goldberg handled my car accident case. Mr. Goldberg denied to fight my case in court becase I was a hispanic woman with an accent. He personally told me that the court was prejudice to minorities. He has a nice personality but he doesn't know his job and he really don't care to fight for his clients. He just want to get paid. That's all he care for. There are plenty of others lawyers in NY. Good lawyers. I wouldn't never recommend Michael Goldberg and David Waterbury. Michael Goldberg worse lawyer in NY.

"I felt the lawyer was unresponsive. Waited days before receiving any reply to my urgent queries. Their fees were quite high in comparison to the value and guidance they provided. I had the impression that they weren't familiar with the latest laws and procedures. They missed a critical deadline which jeopardized my application. I was passed around between multiple staff members, making it feel like no one truly knew the details of my case.

I applied for the Human Resources Assistant position with Stinson, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2024. I was called the next day after applying via their online job application on their website. My initial telephone interview was with Chelsea L. Clennan, Director of Human Resources for Stinson, LLP, who's located in their Wichita, Kansas office. Chelsea was immediately complimenting me, telling me that any employer would be lucky to have me, that my skillsets are perfect for the role, that they would move quick for me in the recruitment process, they would make same-day job offers if needed-- immediately raising red flags for me that she was not a genuine person. She immediately moved me on to the second and final stage of the hiring process: the final interview with the hiring manager, the HR manager of the Minneapolis office-- both of whom reported to Chelsea. My suspicions of Chelsea would prove correct when, all the sudden, after letting her know after my final interview on Friday afternoon that I did have another offer, which I'd received the day prior, Chelsea responded to my email quickly, letting me know her and her hiring team would meet on Monday. In her email to me, which I've attached, she even told me her team considered me a top candidate. Monday came and went-- nothing, crickets. Tuesday, I received the attached screen shot email, letting me know they'd meet later that day. I replied, thanked her for keeping me in the loop, even further expressing my gratitude for keeping in touch with me and making me feel respected and valued. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -- absolute radio silence from Chelsea L. Clennan. I sent a polite follow up email Friday afternoon-- again, I had been ghosted. Not a single reply or word from Chelsea or her team ever since -- despite her shtick of "you're a top candidate" and "we move quickly." I shudder to think how Stinson, LLP employees -- whether in Minneapolis or Kansas -- are treated if Chelsea treated a job applicant -- me -- with what I felt like was pure garbage and disrespect. Personally, I do not recommend Stinson as a place to work based on my experience as a job candidate and how I feel I was treated. When people like the human resources director show you their true colors-- believe them.

I walked in alone to a hearing riddled with anxiety and uncertainty, with no legal representation. Not knowing what was going to be my outcome, especially over a situation that should not have even been brought to a level where court would have been involved, I requested a court appointed attorney. I have never lucked out so much in my entire life than I did that day. Stinson Law firm just so happened to be providing pro bono work that morning and took my case. The two attorneys I worked with not only helped me feel validated in my disbelief that I was even there, but also were the most knowledgeable powerhouse of representation I could have ever asked for. If I were to sum it all up in 3 reasons why I would recommend them to anyone, it would be: Top notch negotiation skills, an unmatched knowledge of the law surrounding my scenario, and for being the most personable, down to earth people, to have the pleasure of working with.

I engaged Betsy Salcedo and Gregory Gahan to help with two cases. Betsy Salcedo was the presiding attorney. We had meetings, emails and discussions for how my case would be handled. Gregory Gahan was my court representative. He was completely unprepared for my hearing despite all of my own preparations which cost me a lot of time and money. I did a ton of leg work for him. Gregory Gahan waited until the last minute to prepare for my hearing and then completely blew everything despite Betsy Salcedo's assurance that they were in fact prepared. Betsy Salcedo and Gregory Gahan will drain your retainer and finances and then when it is time to represent you in court, completely fail. Behind my back and without my permission Gregory Gahan asked the opposing party for a Motion for Continuance on the day of the hearing....after knowing with Covid and the death of the Presiding Judge I had eagerly awaited this hearing for 6 long months. I ended up being pigeon holed into an agreement that I was sorely disappointed in. If Betsy Salcedo and or Gregory Gahan blew your case, please report them to the NM State Bar and the BBB. Post your story, be heard. Betsy Salcedo and Gregory Gahan are scam artists. They should not be practicing law. If that is not enough, Betsy Salcedo is completely disrespectful. Betsy Salcedo has a bad habit of talking over people. Betsy Salcedo is arrogant and will insult you and demean you. I truly wish I never met Betsy Salcedo or Gregory Gahan. They have drained my bank account and my time. They completely botched my court case, they failed to defend me as promised. Why on earth would a lawyer who is hired in good faith wait until the day before the hearing to get the hearing audio. Why would a lawyer go behind a client's back and ask for a Motion that a client had not approved. Furthermore, Gregory Gahan did not copy me on the email he sent the opposing party. When I asked Betsy Salcedo and Gregory Gahan to please send me a copy of the email requesting a Motion for Continuance which I did not approve they refused. I made this request 3 times. I finally had to terminate both of these lawyers. I guarantee they will overcharge me even though they failed to do their job.

If you really take reviews seriously. Run!!!! He is not professional at all. My divorce should have taken six months but because he didn't take action right away, it took a year. He didn't have the letter serve. I has to chase him down and then do the work myself. Thank God it's over. I won't recommend him to anyone. I had to have him correct my name twice. He couldn't get the video to work before the judge. I end up being last and I didn't know if I was going to get divorce or not. Please run. It's your fault if you don't

My story about this lawyer is 90% exactly like one of another reviewer's story down to how much I have paid. To realize that the same exact thing just happened to me is unbelievable. Kelli Hopper was inconsiderate, showed no compassion, uninformative during my experience with her! She charged me over 9,000.00 for basically filing paperwork and mediation in which she was of no help. There was not much advising. A friend of mine also stepped in and I let her and her unprofessional services go. I was a single mom and needed legal help and she did nothing. I do not recommend her at all. She is too busy for her clients. And just like the other review, she didn’t even call and ask why I was dropping her, but she did charge me for her having to turn in the paperwork to remove herself as my lawyer and the text that I sent her. I would not recommend her to anyone.

I found Ms. Richards to be highly unprofessional, highly unethical and highly prejudicial in the execution of my parent's estate. In my opinion, resorting to threats and bullying in an attempt to intimidate a particular beneficiary is beneath the conduct you would otherwise expect from a member of the Bar Association. To be clear, I was not "unhappy with my parent's estate", I was shocked by Ms. Richard's behavior. Her handling of the estate relative to administration and advice given was deplorable, and in no way represented what my parents would have wanted. If you're in the market for an estate attorney that you can trust to do the right thing upon your passing, I recommend that you look elsewhere. I would not have even given Ms. Richards a "1 star" review, but Google doesn't accept anything less.

I had a great experience with Sean Patrick. I am out of state, but needed to pursue legal action in Illinois. From the first phone call, I knew I found my lawyer. Sean was action-oriented, he did what he said he would do, and he helped me reach a settlement that I was pleased with. I would use them again if ever the case arose. If you're looking for someone who knows the game, and will aggressively fight your case, give him a call.

Had a very unpleasant experience with Sean. He was rude, demeaning and condescending in our exchange. He said there's so little at stake in my case financially that my case essentially did not matter. To me, that was incredibly insulting because I work hard for my money and I felt belittled by his comments. I would highly recommend clients to STAY AWAY from Sean. Not professional at all.

Unfortunately an unhappy experience. We had a patent filed a few years back through this company and I feel there was a complete lack of explanation to us, and forethought by the company who obviously also missed the point of what we were trying to patent and protect about our product... so our patent is basically useless and unenforceable to us now. Of course we didn't know the right questions to ask which is why we trusted their experience to coach us and it all missed the marked badly. The people/staff a friendly, but the experience here was just wasted money for us. I can't recommend it.

I can’t say enough about Selby Brown from Summit Law Group. She's not just any lawyer; she's the beacon of hope you wish for when everything else seems to fall apart. I found Selby when I was at my lowest, and after a horrible experience with two other lawyers. Facing a situation with a business partner who nearly wrecked me financially and emotionally, Selby was a game-changer. What really sets Selby apart isn't just her sharp business law and litigation skills; it's her unparalleled patience and genuine care. Imagine diving into a legal battle, feeling out of depth, and then there's Selby. She didn't just guide me; she made the complex legal world accessible to me. For someone for whom English is a second language, and who finds the legal world as challenging as learning a third language, her patience and clarity was priceless. Selby took the time to meticulously explain every legal procedure and after every discussion, she followed up with an email summarizing our conversation and outlining the next steps. This might sound simple, but it was a breath of fresh air compared to my previous experiences with 2 other lawyers. Other lawyers left me in the dark, not bothering to confirm they'd received my emails or to clarify my doubts. Selby's responsiveness and dedication to keeping me in the loop were not just helpful; they were a stark contrast to what I'd faced before and immensely valuable. I can’t emphasize enough how important this was for me and helped me not fall into severe depression. Selby was also incredibly mindful of the costs involved, making every effort to minimize expenses without cutting corners on her services. Though I decided to drop the case, it wasn't a loss. Thanks to Selby, I came out of the ordeal emotionally intact, with a wealth of knowledge about our judicial system. This understanding has been instrumental in preparing me for my next venture. After this experience, I've turned to Selby and Summit Law Group for all my business-related legal needs with my new company. Selby is my first point of contact for a wide range of business law issues, from company formations to business disputes and trial litigations. What sets them apart is not just their comprehensive knowledge but also their network of specialized expertise. Whenever a situation arises that falls outside their direct scope of services, Selby ensures I’m connected with the right experts within their network. This holistic approach to legal support makes Selby and Summit Law Group indispensable to me and my business.

Before meeting with Judy, I had never consulted a lawyer about anything ever. I came to her because my ex-husband and I had decided to go through the process of mediation. I was very nervous about the entire divorce process as it represented a change to every aspect of my life. Judy was very kind and compassionate and wanted to make sure she had all the facts before starting the process so that she could best represent my interests. She was very helpful in letting me know what to expect, what the timeline should be for the process and counseled me on reasonable expectations on both sides. She was concerned not only for my legal and financial interests, but also wanted to make sure that I was emotionally supported through all the changes. Knowing what to expect allowed me to feel some sense of control in an otherwise chaotic period. During the negotiation process, Judy allowed me to make all the final decisions but definitely let me know when she thought that I was being too flexible or he was asking for too much. Overall, I was very pleased with Judy and felt like I was very well represented and would recommend her!

Judy represented me in my divorce in 2013. I would not recommend her for the following reasons: missed discovery deadlines, unprofessional communication with respondent.

Judy was recommend to me by my psychologist during a very tough time in my life and I will be always grateful. Judy was compassionate and fair, yet firm. She recommended mediation, but after 23 hours of trying, we went to court. In the end, with Judy's help, I obtained what I felt was rightfully mine. Through a very difficult process, Judy was an excellent lawyer to me, I recommend her highly.

Stuart Wachs has represented our building since 2006 when we hired him as our attorney. In this role, he has provided counsel and advice, and resolved complex legal issues and negotiations. In all instances he has provided these services in a thorough, thoughtful, professional, and astute manner. He is extraordinarily patient, insightful, courteous, considerate, responsive, and clear. Legal issues, language, and documents are often confusing and intimidating. In all instances he has given us the time and support we needed, and has provided clear, concise explanations. This has enabled us to both understand, and make all necessary decisions in our best interests. He is a pleasure to work with.

He is deal-oriented, knowledgeable and creative in overcoming issues that typically arise as well as unusual problems. He is always responsive and thoroughly prepared. He takes whatever time is needed to explain problems and solutions, which he does in a warm and humorous way. I highly recommend him."

I own a company that manufactures men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel in domestic and overseas factories. Since I started the business about 10 years ago and continuing to date, Stuart Wachs has been my lawyer. He has spent an enormous amount of time patiently explaining and giving me advice concerning the huge number of the legal issues related to my business including trademarks and copyrights. He prepared form contracts and invoices, reviewed contracts, NDA’s and leases. He was and is always available to answer questions. When disputes arose with customers or suppliers, he gave practical advice aimed at resolving things quickly and cheaply. When we needed to go to court, he was proficient, totally prepared and delivered consistently good results. He is honest, upfront, friendly (but tough), and extremely knowledgeable. I could not be more enthusiastic about Stuarts’ abilities. His professionalism, knowledge of the law, and ability to quickly understand the issue at hand is, in opinion, unparalleled, which is why he has been my attorney for over 10 years. I would not consider using anyone else and recommend him as an attorney without a single hesitation. Julie

I contacted Ms. Gilder in March 2022 to handle a child support modification and correct the arrears. It wasn’t until August of 2022 that my ex was served with a citation. My ex had until September 12th to respond and didn’t. Her words: “ Her answer is due by 10:00 AM on September 12th. I will be prepared with an order so we can try and get a default judgment on 9/14th. So right now we’re in a holding pattern until we know whether or not she has filed an answer. I’ll touch base with you on 9/13th. Again, Have a blessed day!” From that point i hadn’t heard anything from her and on April 17th 2023 I reached out and she didn’t respond again I texted her on May 17,2023 and then called on May 22, 2023 still with no response. On May 23rd she apologized for the lack of communication. At that time she asked for my paystubs for the second time. In June I reached out and asked about the status of my case. She asked for my paystub once again. I sent them on June 6. On July 13th 2023 I reached out to her and she asked for paystubs again. On July 21, 2023 She then said that she would go to the OAG. However on July 31st I received a notice to review child support order from the OAG. I personally went to the OAG’s office to sign it, thinking that she was the reason for it. However when I got to the OAG , they stated that an attorney was not assigned to my case at all! I then called, texted, and emailed and I still haven’t gotten a response. The OAG stated that the modification takes up to 6 months and I’m on month 18 and doing the work myself. As for the issues with the arrears, I’ll get a new attorney, but to be ignored and taken for $2k with no results for 18 months and to have to chase her and be asked to provide the same information repeatedly is just ridiculous, dishonest and disheartening! I’ve got the receipts to prove and will be filing a complaint to the Texas Bar Association. All it took to keep me happy was communication. The kicker is that I’m paying child support on a 24 year old currently so the 18 months of this ordeal is Bull-$hit!

I hired Ms. Gilder concerning a family matter. I was very satisfied how she handled my case and dealt with opposing counsel. The things that come to mind for my experience with her as a lawyer; without going into the particulars are her knowledge of the law, experience, passion, sympathetic rapport, honesty, creativity and most of all availability. She caught every trick the opposing counsel tried and always kept me informed as to where my case was and what would happen next. These are all valuable traits to me and I am glad I selected her to assist me with a delicate matter. When one has to understand their rights and responsibilities, it is nice to know you don't have to worry about who you chose to represent you in a legal matter.

I hope this (current) review will be helpful for those considering good representation (it could have helped me). This lawyer could serve you well if you are seeking a legal form to be filled and filed with the court (or something straightforward), but if litigation is required, I think better counsel can be found. My mother and I had a straightforward conflict that needed legal resolution. A contract was in place that would quickly be resolved in front of a judge. The case took a year to resolve and cost us a small loss and legal costs. Throughout the case, he was never clear with us until he needed to be, instead informed us on a need to know basis. Usually his response to detailed questions was, “Let’s see what happens.” He allowed himself to be manipulated by opposing counsel several times even though I warned him practically each time. I still have many apologetic emails and recordings that testify to this, yet he was able to still charge us for his mistakes. In case you are wondering, why not fire him? I learned that lesson late. We believed in the case more than we did him and so was willing to see it through. That was a mistake on our part. The case was settled overall in our favor upon my insistence to go to court, though he was against doing so and on many occasions tried to have us settle. In the end it was clear he wanted to walk away once our money ran out. Instead of continuing to find money to pay him, it was best to be finished with him and take the small loss. In conclusion, regardless of how strong your case might be, under his representation you stand a chance to lose or settle. So beware and I hope this turns out to be helpful to someone.

What a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Can Do for You

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer, often referred to as a litigation lawyer, specializes in handling legal conflicts between individuals, businesses, or organizations. These lawyers represent clients in civil lawsuits, helping to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation in court. They can assist with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, property disputes, business conflicts, personal injury claims, and more.

If you are involved in a legal conflict and need representation, a dispute lawyer can guide you through the litigation process - from filing or defending against a lawsuit to negotiating settlements or representing you at trial.

When Should I Hire a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer when you're involved in a legal disagreement that cannot be resolved informally and may require legal action. Common reasons to hire a lawyer include:

  • Breach of contract: If someone has failed to fulfill the terms of a contract, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit to seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Whether it's a partnership disagreement, shareholder conflict, or a dispute with a supplier or customer, a lawyer can help resolve business-related issues.
  • Property disputes: If you're involved in a dispute over property ownership, boundary issues, or landlord-tenant conflicts, a lawyer can assist in resolving the matter.
  • Personal injury claims: If you were injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a lawyer can represent you in a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Debt collection or defense: If you're being sued for unpaid debts or need to collect a debt owed to you, a lawyer can represent you in court or negotiate settlements.
  • Employment disputes: If you're involved in an employment-related dispute, such as wrongful termination or discrimination, a lawyer can help you file a claim and represent you in court.
  • Defending against a lawsuit: If you've been sued, a lawyer can defend you against the claims, challenge the evidence, and negotiate a settlement or represent you at trial.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your case is properly managed and that your rights are protected throughout the dispute resolution process.

What Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Do?

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients navigate legal conflicts and seek resolution. Their tasks typically include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing the facts and evidence to determine the strength of your case or defense and advising you on the best course of action.
  • Filing lawsuits or responding to lawsuits: If you're the plaintiff, the lawyer will file a lawsuit on your behalf. If you're the defendant, they will respond to the lawsuit and build a defense strategy.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting and reviewing evidence such as contracts, emails, financial records, and witness statements to support your case.
  • Handling negotiations: Negotiating with the opposing party to reach a settlement before the case goes to trial, which can save time and money.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case in court if a settlement cannot be reached, including presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments on your behalf.
  • Exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR): Suggesting mediation or arbitration as alternatives to a trial, which can be faster and less expensive.
  • Drafting legal documents: Preparing and filing necessary legal documents such as complaints, motions, and responses, as well as drafting settlement agreements if a resolution is reached.

How Are Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyers Paid?

The fee structure for lawsuit or dispute lawyers varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of dispute, and the lawyer's experience. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawsuit lawyers charge by the hour, especially for cases that require extensive preparation, research, and trial work. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Contingency fee: In certain cases, such as personal injury or breach of contract claims, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win the case, usually taking a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as filing a simple lawsuit or representing you in mediation, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: In complex cases or long-term litigation, a lawyer may ask for a retainer, which is an upfront payment to secure their services. The lawyer will then bill against the retainer as they work on the case.

Discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how fees will be handled throughout the case.

How Much Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee structure they use. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Lawyers may charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases requiring extensive trial preparation.
  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency basis, expect them to take 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win $100,000 and the contingency fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000.
  • Flat fees: For less complex disputes or tasks, such as drafting a settlement agreement or representing you in mediation, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Retainers: Some lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the case complexity and expected litigation length.

Make sure to ask for a detailed breakdown of fees during your consultation so you know what to expect.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

Before hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has handled similar disputes and is familiar with the relevant area of law.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether they charge hourly, on a contingency fee basis, or offer flat fees, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and potential challenges.
  4. Have you handled cases that went to trial?
If a trial is possible, confirm the lawyer has courtroom experience.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for resolving your dispute.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
Understand who will manage your case and their level of involvement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary actions.
  • Look for relevant experience: Review their website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in litigation or dispute resolution.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for feedback on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation can indicate expertise.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Contracts or agreements: Copies of any signed contracts or relevant agreements.
  • Emails and communications: Any written communication between you and the other party.
  • Evidence of the dispute: Receipts, financial records, photos, or witness statements related to the conflict.
  • Timeline of events: A clear chronology of the dispute, including key dates and interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case, the legal process, costs, and strategy.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide you with the best legal advice on how to proceed.
