Mr. Whitman defended my 22yrs. old son in a robbery assault case. My son's plea was not guilty. Mr. Whitman was on top of everything through out the three day jury trial. He did an excellence job of cross examinations of all witinesses with his mild-manner approach. He gave a brillant closing agruement . It was like watching an episode of "Law and Order". Because of the legal skills of this attorney the jury unanimous found my son not guilty. Mr. Whitman kept us throughly informed, is very trustworthy, responsive to all call and e-mails and obviously knowledgable regarding the law. I would recommend him without any reservation.

Kent has been an invaluable legal advisor to my start-up business over the past year, particularly in the areas of privacy and vendor disputes. Privacy is a huge concern for any e-commerce based business such as ours and Kent is on the leading edge of this evolving area. His knowledge and understanding of privacy law is outstanding. But equally important, Kent has a unique skill of identifying practical solutions that keep the company protected and make excellent business sense. A second area where Kent has made large contributions to our company is in the area of vendor disputes. Like many companies, our success depends on effective working partnerships with dozens of vendors and consultants. Despite doing ones best to select the best and most honest partners, there are are always situations where vendors do not live up to their end of the bargain or try to change the rules previously agreed to in a contract. Kent's help in such situations has been absolutely invaluable. In fact, Kent's advice and actions have enabled us to squash all such issues before significant impact or cost to the business. Finally, in addition to providing invaluable legal council, Kent has a great business intelligence and has provided excellent input into related areas of business strategy. He is also an absolute pleasure to work with. All in all, the best lawyer I have worked with in my few years as an entrepreneur and few decades as an executive in corporate America!

Robin Rossenfeld has been a volunteer conflict resolution professional with our County-supported community mediation program, for sixteen years. In this role, she has been a mediator (handling parenting and child support, civil, neighbor-neighbor, family and other types of cases typical of a community mediation program) and a group facilitator for public meetings, County workgroup retreats, etc. She has also helped our program do conflict resolution trainings of County employees and represented us at various community events. Robin has used her legal knowledge and skills to make her an even more credible mediator and facilitator. Her tenure with our program is nearly the longest among our active volunteers, and she has been, and continues to be, one of our most versatile and dedicated unpaid professionals. I have no hesitation in supporting Robin as an attorney or mediator who can be trusted to do outstanding work for her clients.

J.L. Spray represented me in a civil lawsuit to obtain a clear title to sell Real Estate in Lincoln, Ne. While the outcome wasn't what I originally hoped for, Mr. Spray explained the legal issues I was facing, some of which I was not aware of. With that being said, I must say that J.L. represented me in an excellent fashion. He was quick to answer any question I had and took steps that protected me in process. We had to deal with a very uncooperative defendant and because of J.L.'s savvy we were able to settle without going to trail. This was a difficult situation that lasted about 18 months. In retrospect I am very satisfied with the outcome and the actions of Mr. Spray. At one point I was ready to drop the suit and just go on with no clear title. Again, he explained to me his or our plan of action and I stayed the course. Ultimately, the suit was settled and I give J.L. all the credit in getting things done. I would highly recommend J.L. as an Attorney. If you need of an Attorney and want to be on the winning side Mr. Spray is your man! Lastly, he has a great support team behind him who take action without hesitation in addition to being very competent,

Mr. Watson is a highly regarded attorney who practices mediation and arbitration for construction-related cases. He is thorough, fair and exceptionally adept regarding soliciting honest communication from all parties during mediation and arbitration cases. In my case, Mr. Watson was able to cut through the noise, identify why my client felt he had been wronged, and get to the very heart of the issue which wasn't actually any of the "claims" my client had raised. He communicated effectively between the attorneys and principals, and helped us gain clarity over how to possibly settle our differences. With Alternative Dispute Resolution fast becoming a preferred avenue in which to settle issues that arise under construction contracts, I highly recommend Mr. Watson in your mediation or arbitration.

Attorney Wood took the time to review all the documents I had provided him and pulled out the paragraphs of the contract that could help our case. He even made additional research and talked with one of his colleagues on a few details he was less knowledgeable about. Even though it was a very small case financially speaking, he did not spare his time or efforts and his knowledge gave us a peace of mind that no-one else had been able to provide us until we talked with Mr. Wood. He did all of this for free as he thought his presence and involvement may actually be prejudicial to our case. I would have hired him without any hesitation if my case would have required counsel's presence. Highly highly recommended.

Josh Weiss, Esq. led the team in a tremendous victory for our company in U.S. District Court when the odds were surely stacked against us. We did not have any witnesses; the other side had multiple. There were other strong factors against us, despite the truth being on our side- the burden to demonstrate this was quite an uphill battle with many obstacles. This was all done in less than 2 months’ time for preparation. The dedication, perseverance, focus and amount of time and tireless research was extremely admirable. The level of professionalism, poise and expert command of the points of law- exceptional. I am so grateful to have avoided what could have been a devastating and unfair judgement against our company had not the attention and skill of Josh Weiss prevailed. If I could give a higher ranking- I would. I have extremely high standards and don’t lavish praise easily. Mr. Weiss saved our company. I highly recommend him. He is extremely dedicated and worked very hard, as I am confident he would do for any client. I have had experience with other Attorneys with more experience. I would hire Mr. Weiss immediately, again, if needed, with no hesitation. CEO, Company Owner October 14. 2018

Yes, there are attorneys who don’t fit the horror stories you hear , and Leslie Langbein is one of them. I thank God every day she is representing us! I was rear ended by a limo driver in June of 2012. The policy holder of the limo fraudulently obtained insurance [reported it was a private, NOT FOR HIRE vehicle]: after the collision claim was settled the at fault insured was cancelled and my uninsured motorist coverage took over. I ultimately had a rotary cuff surgery, missed several months of work in recovery, then had to have another surgery on my hand – all related to this claim (over $50,000.) [over a 20 month span.] My employer's insurance policy paid all medical and surgical claims and came after me to reimburse with any settlement from the UIM Coverage. I received short and long term disability benefits (over $80,000.) Both the Medical and the Disability Insurance Companies thought they should get some reimbursement from the UIM. My auto coverage insurance company thought that I was not due the total benefit of $50,000. In UIM coverage because they seemed to think the accident was not severe enough. Jim Stewart not only got auto coverage to pay the full $50,000; but, made it possible for me NOT TO HAVE TO REIMBURSE THE MEDICAL OR DISABILITY INSURANCE COMPANY ONE RED CENT. And, I have not heard a word from them since... This man is a Super “Pit Bull” Attorney who will protect your interest the fullest extent. I have been very pleased and so has everyone I have referred to Jim over the last 12 years that I have known him. Without a doubt, if you want to keep what is yours, what you have coming to you, and stop the competing companies from grabbing all the benefits you have been paying for and rightfully deserve, Jim Stewart is the person to trust your case to . He is simply the best!

When Should I Hire a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer when you're involved in a legal disagreement that cannot be resolved informally and may require legal action. Common reasons to hire a lawyer include:

  • Breach of contract: If someone has failed to fulfill the terms of a contract, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit to seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Whether it's a partnership disagreement, shareholder conflict, or a dispute with a supplier or customer, a lawyer can help resolve business-related issues.
  • Property disputes: If you're involved in a dispute over property ownership, boundary issues, or landlord-tenant conflicts, a lawyer can assist in resolving the matter.
  • Personal injury claims: If you were injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a lawyer can represent you in a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Debt collection or defense: If you're being sued for unpaid debts or need to collect a debt owed to you, a lawyer can represent you in court or negotiate settlements.
  • Employment disputes: If you're involved in an employment-related dispute, such as wrongful termination or discrimination, a lawyer can help you file a claim and represent you in court.
  • Defending against a lawsuit: If you've been sued, a lawyer can defend you against the claims, challenge the evidence, and negotiate a settlement or represent you at trial.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your case is properly managed and that your rights are protected throughout the dispute resolution process.

What Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Do?

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients navigate legal conflicts and seek resolution. Their tasks typically include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing the facts and evidence to determine the strength of your case or defense and advising you on the best course of action.
  • Filing lawsuits or responding to lawsuits: If you're the plaintiff, the lawyer will file a lawsuit on your behalf. If you're the defendant, they will respond to the lawsuit and build a defense strategy.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting and reviewing evidence such as contracts, emails, financial records, and witness statements to support your case.
  • Handling negotiations: Negotiating with the opposing party to reach a settlement before the case goes to trial, which can save time and money.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case in court if a settlement cannot be reached, including presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments on your behalf.
  • Exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR): Suggesting mediation or arbitration as alternatives to a trial, which can be faster and less expensive.
  • Drafting legal documents: Preparing and filing necessary legal documents such as complaints, motions, and responses, as well as drafting settlement agreements if a resolution is reached.

How Are Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyers Paid?

The fee structure for lawsuit or dispute lawyers varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of dispute, and the lawyer's experience. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawsuit lawyers charge by the hour, especially for cases that require extensive preparation, research, and trial work. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Contingency fee: In certain cases, such as personal injury or breach of contract claims, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win the case, usually taking a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as filing a simple lawsuit or representing you in mediation, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: In complex cases or long-term litigation, a lawyer may ask for a retainer, which is an upfront payment to secure their services. The lawyer will then bill against the retainer as they work on the case.

Discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how fees will be handled throughout the case.

How Much Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee structure they use. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Lawyers may charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases requiring extensive trial preparation.
  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency basis, expect them to take 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win $100,000 and the contingency fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000.
  • Flat fees: For less complex disputes or tasks, such as drafting a settlement agreement or representing you in mediation, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Retainers: Some lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the case complexity and expected litigation length.

Make sure to ask for a detailed breakdown of fees during your consultation so you know what to expect.
