It was my extremely good fortune to have hired Jason to represent me in a recent divorce mediation. Jason is the best attorney I’ve ever encountered and believe me, I’ve encountered many. He makes himself accessible to his clients and answers your questions thoroughly, while maintaining a sense of humor and a pleasant demeanor. You are never made to feel like you’re being too demanding or bothersome! He works around the clock to stay on top of your case and calms your fears when you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed. He is an excellent researcher who can pinpoint case histories that will be relevant to your own. Having had my share of attorneys, I can tell you that Jason is of a rare breed. He cares about his clients and works diligently to provide them with a great outcome. He understands difficult personalities who oppose you and knows just how to deal with them as to not escalate the situation. He fights hard and most importantly, he WINS! It is a blessing to know Jason and I could not be happier with his service.

I hired this attorney to handle a insurance claim, unfortunately I had to dismiss him. As I was being Gouged for fees after fees and paid him ruffly $18,000, within a year with no success, and clearly this attorney requested more fees just to tell me a year later I would walk away with about $1000.00 after all said and done, I refused to give him any more money as he became more aggressive during a phone conversation requesting fees after I dismissed him, and requesting $20,000, more to settle. I’m not a math wiz, but figures don’t lie. If he would have been honest in the beginning I would have walked away, and paid him for is honestly not give him a retainer of $12,000., and paying fees there after. There was a company that clearly admitted to wrong doing in writing. He retaliated against me by filing paper work of fees owed to the court, but totally not being honest and informing the courts he’s been dismissed. Lesson learned do a serious back ground check before hiring this attorney. I wish I would have done so shame on me. I tried to negotiate a partial refund for unsatisfied work after dismissing him, and the case has never been heard. Didn’t get any where, but trying to convince me how to give him more fees, and keep him on. Unfortunately I had to give him a STAR......

During the course of our legal bout with a neighbor who was engaging in targeted harassment against myself and my roommate, Mr. Ostendorf provided sound guidance on how we could get the harassment to stop. While a long, and daunting process at times, Jason was every bit patient with my unending questions over what were ultimately trivial matters ( I am not a litigious individual and this was the first time I needed to enlist the aid of legal representation). Ultimately, we settled the case with the individual due to no small part of Jason's efforts on our behalf. I will most certainly consider Jason again for any other legal issues that his expertise can lend aid to.

I hired Mr. Ostendorf to help me handle issues arising from my ex-husband’s refusal to follow sections of our marital settlement. Jason helped me navigate foreclosure issues (due to my ex-husband’s inactions) and represented me in a subsequent lawsuit against him. It’s clear that Jason is very intelligent. He was very factual and to the point, which I appreciated. He was also patient and kind with me during moments when I wasn’t so quick to a point, and I’m very pleased with the overall outcome the lawsuit. I felt that I was in good hands the entire time.

After hearing Mr. Rosenfeld speak to a group of company owners, I retained him to help with contractual issues my company, Alpine Services, Inc., was having on a job in April of 2007. He worked with us on this issue until it was resolved in our favor. Since then he has worked with us on contractual issues as well as collections issues. In each case he has helped us come out on top of the problem. He has helped us collect money that seemed uncollectable by directing us in what actions to take. Mr. Rosenfeld is very knowledgeable, and savy. He has always been available even in emergencies during non-office hours. He is low-key, conservative in his action recommendations, and very effective and result oriented. We at Alpine think he is a rare and wonderful advocate. I would recommend him to anyone with business issues.

From the screening discovery phase, Andrew's skill lies in patiently understanding the issue surrounding a wrongful termination. Andrew's team will process your case efficiently, it takes time to negotiate and patience is a virtue. Best advice is go for the long-haul and be comfortable with waiting.

Of course one only needs an employment attorney when something bad has happened. I went home and googled employment attorneys. I have known Andrew Dansicker for several years and while I knew he was an attorney, I did not know his specialty. When Andrew’s name came up in my google search, I pulled up his web site. The kindness and warm feeling at a very dark time for me was all I needed to send in a request for a free consultation. Andrew was wonderful to work with, he was kind, caring, and responsive, he followed up, and he tried his best for me. In the end he was able to negotiate improved terms with my former employer. I hope you never need an employment attorney, but if you do I recommend Andrew Dansicker without reservation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hunt Valley, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
