Dan represented my Wife subsequent to a rear-end auto collision that caused her significant physical harm. He worked tirelessly, over the period of a year, to achieve a reasonable settlement. Dan knows the Law and how to achieve the best outcome for his clients.

Attorney Malis took my case and from day one organized what needs to be done. After numerous attempts to get my insurance information by me. Dan was able to cut through the bull and got it done in one phone call. He gave me the confidence to keep up the fight until it was resolved amicably.. I highly recommended him to anyone who needs a personal attorney.

I've been a client of Dan's for over a year now. Dan dug so deep into my case, within the first month, he made discoveries that my previous lawyer (who I was with for over a year) didn't even look into. Dan and Billie leave no stone unturned. Billie is amazing at organizing information and breaking things down in a way that it doesn't feel so overwhelming. They took care of getting all of my records and thoroughly learning about my case. You don't feel like just a client at Malis Law. Dan is incredibly knowledgeable and gifted at breaking down legal jargon so it is easily understood. Dan and Billie have gone above and beyond, to make me feel at ease and confident that I am in great hands. I would (and do) recommend Malis Law to anyone dealing with a legal issue. It's a scary world I was completely unfamiliar with until someone recommended that I give Dan a call. It was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I could have made for myself.

I was victim of another car accident. Knowing the pain and struggles from my prior accident I called Dan right away. It use to be we wanted to avoid lawyers, now it's the numerous insurance companies we need to avoid! Dan is always available for questions and advice on how to proceed. He is very knowledgeable, has your best interest at heart and extremely thorough in fighting for your rights. I have recommended others to Dan who were all very pleased with their results in retaining him.

My brother hired Attorney Malis and he did a great job helping him. Dan was very helpful and very informative and was always there to answer our questions. It was a long process and Dan fought hard with the insurance company to get a fair settlement. We were very satisfied and thankful for his services and would highly recommend Dan Malis.

I applied for an H1-B and Sara made the whole process incredibly smooth and easy. Comparing my application to that of my friends, I feel so lucky to have chosen Sara! She knows exactly what to do at every step of the application, she responds quickly to emails and she's always happy to give advice. Couldn't recommend her more!

Sara offered all the aspects I needed in an immigration lawyer: absolute responsiveness, professionalism, expertise, excellent communication, dedication & success. She worked with me under a very tight timeframe and ensured I understood the process. I felt supported and guided by her & had found someone I could trust in this process. I would unreservedly recommend Sara.

I was referred to Ray Watson having left a Multinational Technical company and joined a technology start up company with 13 angel investors. Despite holding multiple degrees and an MBA, we had reluctance and difficulties being a startup without history. Roy was magnificent for being aware of the options, how to handle the difficult situation and for guiding us round the obstacles caused by inflexibility of the "standard" immigration bureaucracy. His creativity and willingness to create options is what stands him aside from other classical lawyers and always friendly, optimistic (and with reason) he is a true gem to anyone wanting Immigration. I would sign him in a heart beat should I ever need a visa or immigration documents again. Pity we lost Katelyn. Dr David G, BSc, MSc, PhD, MBA.

I have an H1B issues with a strange employment loss. I spoke with few Lawyers and everyone scared me about the situation instead of telling me the options and what's the best possible option I can do at this time. My friend referred Mr Roy Watson. I called his office and he answered the call right away. He asked me the every single detail of my situation and provided me the best possible options to deal with. This gave a real boost and helped me understand the whole situation. His knowledge on immigration related issues is peaks. I recommend him 100%

Her first expression was outstanding. She listened us very attentively as we were not good at explanation in English. She understood our topics and start very simple way to reply. She was following our expression or body language as well, so was able to catch up our conversation, always she let us talk frequently, she looked all our papers and shared her opinion, finally she suggest me if I want I can move forward myself with this issue instead of spending thousands dollars by paying a lawyer, this part made me surprised, and proved her she is very honest. According to her professionalism I would like to rate her five star.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cambridge, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
