I live in India and recently ( in the year 2022-2023) had the privilege of working with a remarkable young lawyer who provided invaluable assistance with my family and divorce law case. Despite the challenges posed by time zone differences and the complexity of international law, Ms. Noor Kazmi demonstrated unwavering dedication and expertise, ultimately securing a favourable outcome for my case. One of the most striking aspects of Ms Noor Kazmi's approach was her willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate my schedule. Despite her busy workload, she generously offered me time outside of her office hours to discuss my case, recognizing the importance of bridging the geographical gap between us. Her flexibility and understanding made me feel supported and reassured throughout the process. Furthermore, Ms. Noor Kazmi displayed a commendable commitment to understanding the intricacies of Indian laws and how they intersected with my case in the USA. She invested significant time and effort into researching and familiarizing herself with the nuances of Indian legal systems, ensuring that she could effectively represent my interests in the American legal context. Ms. Kazmi's meticulous attention to detail and her ability to identify and leverage minute details significantly bolstered our position, ultimately leading to a successful outcome in securing child support. During a later phase of my divorce case, I retained Ms. Noor Kazmi on a limited representation basis. She was always totally focused on getting the greatest result for my family and me, and her commitment to my case never faltered. I am immensely grateful for her support and advocacy, and I have no doubt that she will continue to excel in her legal career.

I don't even know where to begin. I have nothing but good praises for Noor and her ability as a lawyer. I am so thankful for her and how she has helped my family during what was such a tumultuos time. Noor has assisted me multiple times on different occasions facing my son's father in court, with issues involving custody, parenting schedules, and permission from the courts to travel and relocate with my son. I had a very complicated situation that, at one point, had me in court with my son's father in multiple states. Noor was able to navigate through what was essentially 5 years worth of minor and major court battles with my son's biological father. She did so with ample knowledge of the system and dedication to get the best possible results. I had consulted with 3 other lawyers before finding and hiring Noor. What I truly appreciate about her and what made her unique is that she is able to obtain results but also be genuinely empathetic. This made, what can often feel like such a traumatic experience become a more bearable and hopeful one. I could trust that she was making decisions and fighting not only for my best interest, but also my son's. Having Noor on my side these past 5 years has made all the difference and I am so happy with where my family and I are today.

I was in a roommate situation. I was referred to her by my friend. Noor was thorough and responded immediately to my questions. She appeared at court for me and when providing feedback gave me different scenarios about the outcome that could potentially occur. I really highly recommend Noor to others!

Normally, my landlord is very hands-off when it comes to dealing with his property and has always been respectful of my use of the unit I rent. There have been a few occasions, however, when there's been a misunderstanding in the agreement and that's when Noor has been more than helpful. She helped me and my landlord come to a mutually-beneficial agreement and also helped defuse a potentially tense situation by being nothing but professional, calm and collected when it was not easy to be so. She also took the initiative to ensure that any potential future disputes would be resolved amicably and not start in the same way. So far from what I believe is a result of Noor's help, there has been no further issue and the problem in question has been solved. There's nothing more I can ask for. Her help was extremely appreciated and I really can't thank her enough!

I applied for an H1-B and Sara made the whole process incredibly smooth and easy. Comparing my application to that of my friends, I feel so lucky to have chosen Sara! She knows exactly what to do at every step of the application, she responds quickly to emails and she's always happy to give advice. Couldn't recommend her more!

Sara offered all the aspects I needed in an immigration lawyer: absolute responsiveness, professionalism, expertise, excellent communication, dedication & success. She worked with me under a very tight timeframe and ensured I understood the process. I felt supported and guided by her & had found someone I could trust in this process. I would unreservedly recommend Sara.

I was referred to Ray Watson having left a Multinational Technical company and joined a technology start up company with 13 angel investors. Despite holding multiple degrees and an MBA, we had reluctance and difficulties being a startup without history. Roy was magnificent for being aware of the options, how to handle the difficult situation and for guiding us round the obstacles caused by inflexibility of the "standard" immigration bureaucracy. His creativity and willingness to create options is what stands him aside from other classical lawyers and always friendly, optimistic (and with reason) he is a true gem to anyone wanting Immigration. I would sign him in a heart beat should I ever need a visa or immigration documents again. Pity we lost Katelyn. Dr David G, BSc, MSc, PhD, MBA.

I have an H1B issues with a strange employment loss. I spoke with few Lawyers and everyone scared me about the situation instead of telling me the options and what's the best possible option I can do at this time. My friend referred Mr Roy Watson. I called his office and he answered the call right away. He asked me the every single detail of my situation and provided me the best possible options to deal with. This gave a real boost and helped me understand the whole situation. His knowledge on immigration related issues is peaks. I recommend him 100%

Her first expression was outstanding. She listened us very attentively as we were not good at explanation in English. She understood our topics and start very simple way to reply. She was following our expression or body language as well, so was able to catch up our conversation, always she let us talk frequently, she looked all our papers and shared her opinion, finally she suggest me if I want I can move forward myself with this issue instead of spending thousands dollars by paying a lawyer, this part made me surprised, and proved her she is very honest. According to her professionalism I would like to rate her five star.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cambridge, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
