Pros
1
Highly knowledgeable and experienced in immigration law
“She is super knowledgeable. She is definitely someone you want in your corner.”
2
Attentive and responsive to clients' needs
“Rachel was always patient with us (it took us some time to collect all the documents) explaining every step, responding to emails and calls and following with any necessary requested documents.”
3
Dedicated and persistent in achieving positive outcomes for clients
“I believe our case was probably one of the more complicated but even with everything what happened we managed to get green card and it was because of Rachel.”
4
Excellent communication and client support
“Rachel gives delicate attention to details, which obviously negates any chance of mistake in the application forms. Most importantly, she gives enough time to an individual candidate to learn his/her plans of action regarding the application, and does a series of one-to-one meeting with the candidate, which really helps to submit the application form with zero error.”
5
Competitive and flexible pricing
“The fees that Attorney Casseus's office charge is also competitive, and the immigration applicant can find flexibility in paying up the fees.”

We moved to Boston from Germany and the first month we heard Rachel's name and her office at CIC. Whomever we were asking a good lawyer, we were hearing same name, Rachel!. During the time, we understood that she is very much on hands person and stunning lawyer. Her expertise level, skills sets, putting together every details on time, made us felt we are in good hands. She quickly understands the needs of the clients and always going beyond clients' expectations. Briefly she is an amazing, exceptional lawyer and person. She explains step by step what and why she does. She is very proactive, kind, responsive person. That's why I guess her clients are growing like a 'snowball'. Thank you Rachel....

#EB-1A Approved in 12 days only# At Casseus Law, Rachel told me my case would be approved easily, even without extra requests for evidence. Even though I wasn't sure, she seemed very sure. Rachel and her team were really good at handling my immigration case. Rachel is a great lawyer who is passionate, aggressive, and respectful. She never backs down from tough challenges. Other lawyers said I couldn't qualify for EB-1A, but Rachel looked at my case and said I would get approved. She helped me every step of the way. I highly recommend Casseus Law and Rachel to anyone applying for a green card through EB-1A or NIW. Thank you so much, Rachel!

I had a really fantastic experience getting help from Rachel regarding my green card application. She helped me through the entire process and addressed all of the recurring issues. I think very highly of her both as a person and an immigration attorney. She is simultaneously very kind and thorough in her approach. I highly recommend Casseus Law for anyone looking to apply for lawful permanent residence in the US. You surely will not be disappointed with the experience. I wish her and her firm the best for the future and thank them for helping me out!

After attending one of her presentations I emailed Sarah asking for advice on my case (waiver for J1 visa). We have been exchanging emails for more than five months. Sarah is a very professional lawyer as you can see it for her prompt responses and precise advices. In these few months she has been on top of the changes that have been happening in these times of COVID-19. I have followed her advices and everything has gone perfect.

Sarah is a brilliant lawyer, outstanding in her work, with a thorough knowledge of the American immigration system. Her research into each individual case is impeccable, as is her ability to draft a crystal clear petition. She was my lawyer for an O-1 petition, and it was her confidence in my case that led me to file the petition in the first place. No query goes unanswered, every point she makes is clear and sharp, and she responds to every email immediately.

I spoke with Sarah Edgecomb about my immigration situation. Even through her caseload was full, she nevertheless spent a good deal of time giving me guidance even outside of any consulting agreement. I was very impressed with her clear communication about my immigration situation. She is a very clear thinker and laid out options, risks and interconnectedness involved in various strategies extremely well. In the world of immigration law where absolutes are not always at hand and ambiguities abound, Ms. Edgecomb so very clearly explained the risks and benefits associated with various immigration pathways and answered my numerous questions very well. I learned quite a lot in our brief conversation. On top of her intelligence, geniality, and clear, methodical thinking, Ms. Edgecomb demonstrated exceptional generosity by spending so much time with me in an initial phone call. If she only were available for additional clients I would definitely seek her counsel. I highly recommend Ms. Edgecomb to anyone desiring legal counsel.

I was referred to Ray Watson having left a Multinational Technical company and joined a technology start up company with 13 angel investors. Despite holding multiple degrees and an MBA, we had reluctance and difficulties being a startup without history. Roy was magnificent for being aware of the options, how to handle the difficult situation and for guiding us round the obstacles caused by inflexibility of the "standard" immigration bureaucracy. His creativity and willingness to create options is what stands him aside from other classical lawyers and always friendly, optimistic (and with reason) he is a true gem to anyone wanting Immigration. I would sign him in a heart beat should I ever need a visa or immigration documents again. Pity we lost Katelyn. Dr David G, BSc, MSc, PhD, MBA.

Her first expression was outstanding. She listened us very attentively as we were not good at explanation in English. She understood our topics and start very simple way to reply. She was following our expression or body language as well, so was able to catch up our conversation, always she let us talk frequently, she looked all our papers and shared her opinion, finally she suggest me if I want I can move forward myself with this issue instead of spending thousands dollars by paying a lawyer, this part made me surprised, and proved her she is very honest. According to her professionalism I would like to rate her five star.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cambridge, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
