There were so many issues and stressful moments having Simon as a lawyer and with the staff lawyer Christine who was assigned to my case. Christine was very rude and unprofessional; her communication skills were awful. Simon missed a due date that I wasn't aware of and called me 3 days AFTER the due date looking for the information. I sent the document within 2 days of notification from Simon, which now made the document 5 days late, by the time the document was sent to opposing counsel, it was 10 days past the original due date. Another similar situation occurred within 2 months of this missed due date. Simon sent a portion of an email from the opposing counsel to me regarding a request to send documents as required by an Order. I didn't have any knowledge of the Order at the time of the email sent by Simon. Simon sent the email request to me 1 week after the Order date. Some of the requested documents were previously sent to Simon. I worked on assembling the documents later that night into the early hours of the next morning just to get the documents to him ASAP. This created another stressful situation for me. Simon sent an email to me with regards to the deposition containing only the deposition notice; the email from Simon didn't contain any verbiage or any strategy on how he would handle the deposition just the deposition notification attachment. The email didn't contain any information as to whether or not Simon would be present at the deposition. I had to ask Simon what was the plan for handling the deposition. I responded to the email that I wasn't happy about the deposition and told him why I wasn't happy, which we discussed several times before. When coronavirus became prevalent in March 2020, I sent an email to Simon asking him about the plan to continue with my case with coronavirus affecting business operations. I asked Simon to reach out to the group handling the case to determine the new timeline. Simon responded via email to my email and indicated he wanted to wait until the ban was lifted to contact the group handling my case find out the plan. All work on my case prior to coronavirus was being done completely through emails, so there wasn't any reason to stop continuing to work on my case as the group handling the case clearly posted on their website that cases would still proceed and be processed via email. I sent Simon an email showing him the information on the company website stating they were still operational and there was not reason for not continuing to work on my case during the coronavirus shutdown. With all the mishaps that happened with my case, I believed my case was on track to be a loss especially since due dates were being missed without my knowledge. After using coronavirus as a reason not to continue work on my case, I couldn't continue with the stress and sought a new lawyer. The new lawyer fought hard for my case. He communicated with me on the progress of my case truly cared about my case. I had a successful outcome with my new lawyer and was thankful to have him as my lawyer. My experience was the opposite of my experience with Simon, it was stress free and pleasurable.

I hired Simon Mann. Simon was very responsive throughout, but as time went on, it was apparent that not much attention was being paid to details, which are important, in order to litigate successfully. It was becoming apparent, that Simon was just doing bare minimum so that it looks as if 'something' is being done. After quite a few interactions, it was evident that the matter is complex and requires a high level of discernment, which I found amiss. Maybe, Simon is good for smaller litigation matters but not so much for complicated matters.

Simon had helped me reach the settlement with satisfactory amount. He had to negotiate and re-negotiate for a duration of time. He was persistent and patient. He was very empathetic with my situation, and helped me though I was not able to afford to pay retainer. I am glad that I found him when I was going through one of the toughest time in my life.

I've had the pleasure to work with Jim over the past year in a custody dispute, that felt like it would never end. Jim is an amazing lawyer and fought for everything I asked for. Dad is no longer involved and we only had to appear in family court once. Jim would make sure his cell phone was on and near during some of the most difficult exchanges of the children, he gave me some great advice and helped me through some difficult times. I am forever grateful to have had him in my corner and highly recommend him to anyone that wants to win. Thank You Jim!!

Where do I begin... I was so ready to give up on everything and just hand my son over to my ex-which I know/knew was the stupidest thing I could have ever done in my life. I was so exhausted by the lies, the taunting, the horrible comments etc. constantly being spewed at me by my ex. It was as if, I was fighting this unbeatable monster in and outside of court, I was ready to give up, even with me being a fighter-and never giving up easily anything!!! But, at that time, I was mentally drained. My family and friends kept saying, "hire a lawyer!" initially- I didn't want to, but I knew if I didn't- I could lose my son to my ex with all the lies he constantly told. So, I went on Google, and googled-child support lawyer....and James Lukowiak aka Jim "popped up"- like neon green lights. I decided to reach out to him for a consultation. While at the consultation it was nothing, but good vibes. Jim listened to every single detail during the consultation, and I finally felt like someone understood my dilemma...someone understood the monster I was facing and was willing to stick it out with me and help me through the most difficult situation in my life. Jim was by my side EVERY STEP OF THE WAY for the last 2 years, and I am so, so, so grateful for him and Meg ;-). Two years ago- I sat in the consultation with Jim and said, "I want full custody of my son and I want my ex to be exposed for the person he really is". Two weeks ago, my ex finally decided to sign his rights over to me giving me full custody and physical custody of our son. Jim is a great listener and he knows THIS game. I am immensely grateful for running into this guy, and watching how he works, the dedication he has for his clients is fantastic. I must say, I learned a smidge of the game while working with him. Jim helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel, and for that-I am thankful. THANK YOU JIM!!!!!!

James is a very nice lawyer. He spent hours with me during the initial free consultation. I met with many lawyers in this area and none of them would spend much time with you during the initial free consultation. Actually, one lawyer tried to charge me for an extra 10 minutes after the first half hour free consultation. He knows the many details of your case because he is a very good listener. He has much experience in family law and thinks outside of the box. He pointed out several good arguments and strategies for my case that I did not think of, although I spent hours thinking every day. Most lawyers will ask me what I want them to say in court, but James is not one of them. He finds valid and strong arguments for my case. Without his expertise, I could have ended up signing an unfair agreement with my unreasonable ex and opposing counsel. If unfortunately, I have to go to court again, although I hope I don’t have to, I definitely want to keep this fighter on my side.

Initially I didn't expect this level of excellent service from Glenn. We had a payments issues from a vendor which was handled legally by Glenn and he made a smooth settlement. We were always kept informed in time by Glenn about the progress on the above legal dispute and he never wait for us to tell him to follow up with the other party. He proactively do it on his own which i see is more needed for any client. I recommend Glenn to everyone because of his excellent service.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Framingham, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
