Was nervous about hiring an attorney when I was hurt on the job. Was referred by my friend who had nothing but nice things to say. I had no idea I was able to go on SSI after my workers comp injury left me unable to work. My name is Stacey Gonya. I am a 54 yr old male who has been working fulltime since i was 16 years old. Many friends and co-workers told me 5 years ago when i first started to experience complications of the Diabetes with 3 different surgeries on my foot due to severe neuropathy, i should explore the option of disability. I put this off due to a couple reasons. 1) I was intimidated by the process and not sure where to start and 2) The mere mention of the word Disability carries a negative condentation that most people look at you in a negative light as either being lazy or being a burden. As i finally started to realize it was time to start the process as not to continue with the effects of the Diabetes on my everyday work and life, i was faced with the task of figuring out the whole process and what to do next. I had no clue as to how to start and figured anything i do incorrect and incomplete could pose serious problems with delays or rejection. I looked at several different options for legal representation online, through ads etc etc. I settled on a company in Plymouth Mass that had previously never heard of. I settled on this company because i had no other insight and needed to rely on someone. As it turns out this was the absolute best decision i could possibly make. Hartwig Law Firm was supportive, informative, nonjudgmental, and up front from our very first conversation. They walked me through the process and explained in detail how the process worked and gave me realistic outlook and time frame to expect. They were honest and caring. Even letting me know that most people have the misfortune of being denied before having to go through an appeal process that can be lengthy and not guaranteed. I was lucky enough to get approved after just 8 months without a denial or appeal. I made the correct choice to go with legal representation and an even better choice of who represented me. Well I believe both emphysema and thrombocytopenia are both chronic illness that I’m absolutely dying with not sure why my application was filled out as it was, and they never asked me for my financial institutions yet had me get my account under $1000.00 to apply for ssi which they never did . Family referred me. I wonder if family Is the reason that so much was left u done or let’s say i wasn’t fully in control over my own case that maybe a family situation though not a keefe situation. I felt very manipulated through the process and I decided to go it on my own as I’m not trying to be the next. Britney Spears.

I haven't dealt with this firm personally,however,the SSI and SSDI payment schedule posted on their website is incorrect. I live in the state of Maryland I've been receiving disability since 2014 I have NEVER EVER received a payment after the 1st of the month. My birthday is in the 28th of September. I've received payments before the 1st but never after. I wish I could find a site that has it right because so far I haven't been able to that's why I only give three stars because if they can't get the schedule right it makes me question other information they have listed.
