It's VERY hard to go after an HOA. Shawn McKee represents HOA's & protects them. But, he can also go after them! His law firm has a far reach. He did a superb job in helping me sue my HOA Management company & it's Board Members! It was a success. He helped make a case with the downtown courthouse on Caroline St., and then about a year later the old bard was removed. Then, I was able to become a Board member myself! I then helped nominate all new board members & hired a different management company. Shawn turned an outdated/ shadily governed HOA into a modern/ fair-governed HOA. I interviewed about 5 of the best real estate HOA attorneys before picking him. If you need an HOA attorney or if you need an attorney to go after an HOA.. Its been my experience that SHAWN MCKEE stresses out the other side so much that they lose in court or give in to his terms outside of court.

I hired Denise to handle my divorce and some other stuff related to it. From the beginning, she was brutally honest with me and didn't candy coat anything. I really needed that. To start, she had me literally get all my ducks in a row as far as paperwork, account statements, etc as well as working out my timeline for everything. That paid off many times over getting everything organized. Every step of the way in the negotiations she helped put me at ease but was still very realistic as to what to expect. I was really worried about a long court thing but we were able to come to an understanding before having to spend to much time and money with that. I know I had to bug her with my questions but she was nice enough to answer every single one whether I liked the answer or not. Like I said, she didn't sugar coat anything. If I had to get divorced again, I'd hire her since she was a real voice of reason.

Jill represented me in a complex employment discrimination and retaliation case against a former employer. She has a heart of gold and always put my needs first, even if that meant connecting about my case outside of regular business hours. She was also incredibly thorough and detail-oriented, identifying additional claims based on the facts that added tremendous value to my case. Ultimately her decades of experience served me well, and I received a settlement that was nearly double the amount I originally thought was possible. Jill is truly one of a kind - a skilled lawyer that is brilliant, patient, considerate, and persistent in successfully advocating for her clients. I would retain her again in a heartbeat should I ever experience employment discrimination in the future.

you need an attorney who will really listen to you. Adam represented me and in our first meeting I said that I wanted to take the path of least resistance. He was willing to do that with me but advised me, along the way, of best and worst case scenarios. His background in social work allowed him an unusual understanding of the human element involved. This was essential when my (now) ex-husband began to press for more and more by way of settlement. There were any number of times when I had to balance various emotions and practical decisions. Adam was there with me fully. He also worked effectively with my husband's attorney, when he finally chose to get one. The result: I am divorced and I have retained my sanity!

I will always remember Lee Owens and her team: Connie, Tristan, and Sandy for how they helped my family. It involved out of state complications, but I didn't concern myself with because Lee just sailed right through them. She was very thorough and when it came time to stand in front of the judge, no stone was left unturned. Her team helped us every step of the way and was very accessible. They turned what could have been a very unpleasant, stressful situation into a manageable problem that we all just worked through-step by many step. I am forever grateful for her talents and her passion for making a real difference in people's lives.

Ms. Premazon did an excellent job getting things done for my family. She was able to sort through our uncertainties, helped us make good decisions and got documents done and filed promptly. Knowing these legal details are handled is a great relief for us. Mom and Dad are able to relax knowing affairs are in order. My sister will be calling her soon for another matter. I definitely would recommend Edith Premazon for your legal needs. She communicates clearly and we knew exactly what to expect, knew what fees were and what steps to take next. Knowledgeable and professional. Glad we chose her.

Ms. Ball and I met under the Auspices of the Family Law District Court in Montgomery County. Coming off of a couple of rough years financially, and being unemployed at the time I was facing an enforcement hearing for being a two months behind on support payments. I was appointed Ms. Ball by Judge Valdez in the 418th. While I was thankful to have an attorney to guide me through the upcoming court proceedings, I must say I was a bit nervous. I've always heard that "you get what you pay for", and with Ms. Ball being appointed I didn't know what to expect. Well, let me tell you, I don't know what her customary hourly rate is but she proved her worth and then some in my case. She not only laid out a precise list of the documents I needed to provide as exhibits so that she could prepare, but we also met the afternoon before the hearing and prepared for what was to come the next day. We met again the next morning as court was coming into session for a final chat, and the hearing got underway. The day did not go quite like I had imagined it would, but that's why Ms. Ball was the right attorney for the case. I knew from her opening statement that she meant business, and throughout the morning she did what was necessary to take care of the the business of the day. In the end the double digit count of contempt charges that opposing counsel had filed were dismissed. Ms. Ball even convinced the court that instead of my paying for opposing counsel's legal fees that the money, when earned, would be better served paying support payments for my children. Although I'd normally hope for favorable conditions under which to meet someone, I'm glad I met Ms. Ball when I did. She is a top notch attorney and the right one for my case. From the get-go she was empathetic and I believe that she had mine and my children's best interest in mind.

Attorney Munsinger did a fantastic job in handling my case. As an attorney myself, I understand both the demands and expectations of the legal profession. Ms. Munsinger met and easily exceeded my own expectations of what effective advocacy and representation should “look like”. All of my calls and questions were answered either directly or in an extremely prompt manner. It was especially evident of Attorney Munsinger’s professionalism when I witnessed the manner in which the staff at the adversarial attorney’s office worked with and respected her as well (this was a collaborative divorce case so the work is more collegial in nature). While I would never want to go through a divorce again, I would strongly recommend Attorney Munsinger for anyone wishing for comprehensive and effective counsel.

Bill was recommended to me by my financial lawyer to advise me legally regarding my drawn out divorce. He has literally been the most supportive, available, reliable and knowledgeable resource during this very draining process. Divorce is already messy, but with Bill's help I was advocated for effectively and aggressively. He accepted my calls and personally went out of his way to represent me, even discussing legalities outside office hours when it was the only time available. He would go over paperwork with me on the phone and made sure I was covered in the final agreement drafted by the mediator. I cannot recommend him enough. Esp to single women. His prices are more than reasonable for the care and experience he has and gives. There are A LOT of lawyers who take advantage of women in the frail emotional state of their divorces and charge them exorbitant hourly fees for hardly any real advocacy or work done on their part. Esp in NYC. So do your research and keep your lawyer on a tight leash if you decide to not go with Bill. Every time you talk to your lawyer, keep track of the length of phone calls, meetings and keep a paper trail. That way, when it comes to final invoicing, you've got all the documentation to show how much he/she should be charging. I was overcharged by one such lawyer and wrote a review about him on Yelp. Keep costs up front and talked about each time you speak with your lawyer. It's not personal, it's business. You have to think of it as a game of chess, and leave your emotions at the door. Lawyers are not therapists so don't get your time with them confused with talking about anything other than legalities and your case. I truly hope you hire Bill though because he is absolutely a gem in the midst of a lot of greedy Wall Street wolves. Good luck and stay smart ladies. I know how tough divorce is, so keep your support system strong cuz you cannot do it on your own. Bill will be in your corner the whole time and keep putting those boxing gloves on you each time until you get the best settlement possible. A paralegal friend of mine told me, "Lacey, you will not get the settlement you want. No one gets the exact settlement they want. But you can walk away with the best one, and when it's drafted, take it".

I know who I would re-hire! I hired Ms. Chambliss to represent me in a divorce and I am forever grateful for the exceptional service I received from her firm. I was a stay at home mother with no idea where to start when I was faced with the end of my marriage. Ms. Chambliss was patient from the start and took the time to personally explain the ins and outs of the law, while encouraging and empowering me to be an active part of my own settlement negotiations, which provided me peace throughout this process. She advocated for my best interest and was always available for questions when needed. She was conscious of my financial position and submitted regular and fair invoices for my review timely. I would HIGHLY recommend Ms. Chambliss for anyone looking for a lawyer.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
