I was sorely disappointed with my counsel.
I found myself in the worst position possible back in May and was given Jason’s name from my brother’s girlfriend who knew him. Jason’s reputation precedes him; he is well known and respected in the court system and he is known for getting people off of their charges with a slap on the wrist, or close to. That is why I chose him to be my lawyer.
I met with Jason two days after this incident occurred, a Tuesday, we spoke about possible outcomes and avenues to take. I am a teacher and Jason expressed I might have to call my union representative to find out what to do as far as reporting goes. I was extremely embarrassed by my situation and he offered to call for me that Friday. I thanked him, paid him, and went on my way. I called him Friday to clarify something and asked if he had called yet, he said no and he would get to it. I also asked him to put in a motion for me the following week. He never did.
It was a month until my pretrial. During that time I called Jason, left voicemails, and messaged him and his paralegal for updates and questions. Jason never responded to me and his paralegal responded sporadically and not kindly. She also uploaded evidence to MyCase that was not mine. I was privy to someone else’s police body cam footage. Another time she accused my mother of messaging her and then confessed she might be confusing my case for someone else's. At my pretrial, Jason showed up 20 minutes late. He was sweating, out of breath, seemed scattered and frantic. He never met with the witness that he specifically asked to be there and never allowed me to be in the room with the prosecutor to at least hear what was being said regarding my case and me.
He came into my conference room and told me what the prosecutor was offering me. I agreed and he went to get the paperwork. He came back 15 minutes later yelling and throwing his briefcase with a new story that the witness was changing his mind about charges and sentencing. He left while he was still speaking, leaving me confused and disheartened. After another 10-15 minutes he came back in and said they were offering me the same thing, and there was a new offer. He was calm and said that we could go and I had time to make a decision on the offers. I told him I wanted to do what wouldn’t affect my job, and asked him again what I had to do about it. He looked directly at me and asked “what do you do again?” I was appalled that he didn’t even bother to look over my case, or remember me enough to remember what my profession was.
A few days later I called him to ask questions regarding the pretrial and the two offers on the table. He told me that I was supposed to report to my school within 3 days and he told me to call. I reminded him that he said he would call on my behalf, which he didn’t remember. It took him two minutes to figure out what I needed to do and call me back. He told me to say that I didn’t have a lawyer at the time of the incident so I didn’t know what to do. I got fired from my job for failure to report within those 3 days. Three days would have been the Friday that he told me he would call my union and get back to me.
Jason was very put together for my plea; he was on time, calm, spoke well, and had a good rapport with the judge. However, it seems the pretrial is what is the most important part of this process where I feel he dropped the ball and did me an injustice.
I don’t doubt that Jason is a good lawyer who puts in work for his clients. He just didn’t put in the work for me. I firmly believe if he would have done what he told me he was going to do, responded to me when I asked for updates (or told me he was too busy and to do it myself), I would still have my job today.

I hired Jason for my son's 3rd DUI. Jason did OUTSTANDING work, knows the system in and out, and got the best result possible for my son. When the judge had an error in her probation order, Jason took the time after the case was complete to file a motion to get the error corrected. He is quick to respond to emails and texts also. We highly recommend this attorney.
