Marsh Halberg, and his incredible team at Halberg Criminal Defense (HCD) are experienced professionals, smart and savvy litigators, while also respectful and responsive to their clients. They are well-respected by all in the legal profession across the Twin Cities and beyond. I cannot recommend Marsh more highly if you need outstanding criminal legal representation in Minnesota. I was falsely accused of a very serious crime in early 2023. I started out with another firm and quickly realized that I needed an experienced criminal attorney who specialized in Minnesota criminal law and had seen it all. I left a message through their website for one of the attorneys at HCD on a Sunday and by 8 AM Monday morning, Marsh Halberg called me back, convinced me that he had successfully tackled cases like mine previously, and immediately started to work his magic. Throughout the case, Marsh, and his amazing assistant Trista, kept me updated and promptly returned my calls, texts, or emails. At key decision points, Marsh laid out all the options - pros and cons - and then carefully listened to and followed my wishes. After eight months, through perseverance, well-considered strategies and arguments, and without having to go to trial, my charges were completely dropped, something that no lawyer with whom I spoke initially thought possible. I am convinced, regardless of being innocent, that I would not have had this outcome if I had not changed defense firms. It critically matters who you have walking with you through serious legal challenges. If you are in trouble, like I was, you can stop looking for the BEST defense team. This is kind of an odd review to write because it's for a place that was there for me during the lowest period of my life. I did wrong, I don't deny that for a second. Halberg helped me find a way to navigate with the courts an outcome that led to treatment, not just throwing me into prison forever. Mostly though I give five stars for Dave Risk as a human being. He genuinely cares about the clients and the people that come through the firm. I was pretty terrified when the full weight of the state came down on me, but I felt a little better when a friend going through law school and described Dave as a "Genius lawyer." Here's the thing, I'm not the same person I was five years ago that made a bad decision. It hasn't been easy, but I'm so grateful for the chance to complete treatment, and to stay in therapy. I sort of always assumed I was too broken to be fixed. That's not true at all; anyone can grow beyond their injuries.
